Unexpected results of weight loss

This may be a weird one, but lately I have been noticing how my more roomy the driver's seat in my car is. I feel a lot smaller sitting there than I used to, lol.
Right?? I don't have to prop my arm up high by the window. There's enough room by my side for it to be comfortable. And this last weekend, I spent 8 hours in a little BMW roadster on a road trip and was comfortable the whole time, didn't have any trouble getting in and out of the car, and the seatbelt fit me. Holy crap.

I have a new tan line from my fitness tracker22

My fitbit one, which lives in between the cups of my bra, pokes me in the chest now if I lay on my stomach. Also, I'm thinner than my profile pic on MFP now.4

The offhand comment from people saying I still look as fit as I was when in the military. I don't have the heart to tell them I've only been retired since SEP8

Got the fright of my life when i found a large lump in my chest, was going to go to the doctors then a friend said it was my xiphoid process. What a relief thought it was an alien......lol.

My desk chair is one of those which, as a safety feature, needs a certain amount of weight on it before it will roll properly. I'm only 20lbs down so far and still pretty heavy, but it's getting harder to push my chair back!1

How much easier it is to fold smaller clothes. Just folded a pair of my old 50" jeans, and a XXXL shirt, and it too longer/was harder than folding a pair of 36" jeans and a M shirt.
This is the truth for sure!
My size 10 jeans are super easy to fold, way better than 20 was. And medium shirts are a dream compared to my mom's 6XL. Those are a nightmare to fold.

Another is how much I'm freezing all the darn time.
And how much I love physical exercise
And how incredibly grumpy I get if I don't get my exercise in.
And for the TMI - I have endometriosis. The pain during my periods was insane, but now that I'm normal weight, the pain is gone.
I agree about being cold all the time! I had to have a coworker close the vent in my office, and I still have to occasionally use to little heater under my desk!4 -
Being able to feel my pelvic bones against the matress when I lay down facing down
I agree with this, when I'm laying on my side I have to position my arm now cause my bone is sticking out at me making it uncomfortable haha I'm not where near finished with losing weight but this freaked me out the first time!3 -

OMG! Have just spent the last 4 days reading this thread, what an inspiration you all are. I cannot wait to add my own "surprises"
Not looking forward to the being cold all the time part as I already feel the cold, but I DO love winter fashion ;-)
I think the thing I'm looking forward to the most is being able to get on my horses without having to lift my foot up to the stirrup with my hand (even with the smaller horses!)
I'm early in my restart, but I've already noticed I'm much more positive and focussed this time than any other attempt. I feel so much more energetic already, and it's only been a week that I have been fully focussed.14 -
The hipbones, the collarbones, the leg crossing, the shoes/clothes being too big, the seats/airplane seats/booths being more comfortable, the bony bum and hence necessary (and now possible!) leg crossing. But most of all, the stronger joints from the walking/running/lifting. I used to be a fat but sporty kid-teen and had one sprained or fractured limb to show for each school holiday from a trip or fall while playing sport or climbing a tree. Sometimes, even a bad sprain from twisting my ankle on a pebble or a crater in the road.
Now, the most pleasant surprise is NOT having a sprain and feeling how sturdy my gait has become from reinforced joints and bones. i no longer carry Volveran/Voltarol on every holiday!
Extremely small but for me, very significant victory i realised that this is what I do this for, to help my body be it's best.13 -

Yeah, every time I fold my shirts I'm always surprised at how small they are.
Also, my husband and I fit so much better on our double bed. Now if I could only train the cats to sleep where they won't lock my legs in place...9 -
Last night I sat on a bench waiting for my pilates class to start, and I pulled both legs up in front of me and tucked them under my chin. it was only when I looked over in the mirror, that I saw how I was sitting, and realised that I literally couldn't have got into that position a year ago. More than that, I was comfortable! 10 months of weekly pilates classes has changed my body, almost more than the actual weight loss. No more back pain (at ALL!), fantastic core strength, I stand up straighter, and have much better flexibility.
Also, I keep tightening my favourite yoga pants with the string, as I'm loath to lose them (they're so comfortable, and just the right length), but I'm losing the battle, they keep sliding down when I'm on the mat! I never thought I'd be sad to lose clothes because I'm too small for them, but some of them were my favourites! Oh well, I guess I know what the birthday vouchers are going to get spent on!16 -

When you figure that one out let me know! LOL

Hip bones hurt when I'm sleeping now. Crossing my legs and being able to sit indian style again on the floor, believe it or not is motivation for me to keep going. Makes me feel good that I can do it again.5

I'm a tosser. My cats learned fast that Mama don't stay uncomfortable for anyone! Lol.6 -

Me too. Well, actually I'm a slow roll to the new position while hoping not to get clawed by a cat that's been thrown off balance by my shifting positions. I totally get having my legs locked in place by the cats though. That's happened in the past.

I've had my babies since they were kittens, so they learned pretty quick. And I would also try to toss slowly so I didn't accidentally kick someone. But I knew when I was tossing a bit too much when my Bandit kitty would get up, wait for me to stop tossing, then pounce onto my leg and use his entire kitty weight to try and keep it there!11 -
Fantastic! Experienced many of these, too! LOL1

So, I gained really fast... but losing now, my body is different than I remember. More muscular. It's kind of nice. I don't even lift (yet, but I am about to jump right on that. Seriously, people's results are amazing!)2

One thing I notice more now is water retention and bloating. 50 lbs heavier I could never understand how people felt bloated or distended, but I do now. I can tell pretty quickly if I'm bloated now. It's strange.18

Things that have stood out to me are being able to cross my legs, looking down and being able to see my toes, not getting a backache from walking and having legs chafe together lol12
-
I did not even think of this until saw the post above me. Yes no backache from walking. Using another hole on my belt because my waist is getting smaller and can't wait until I am out of holes and ready to buy a new belt.2
