@pthyay Great job on the 5k - and you already passed your goal for the month too!
I've been waiting for a while for the Saucony Cortana 5 to come out, so that I could get some good deals on the previous model. Finally did a bit of google research today, and just found out the the Cortana was discontinued after version 4
On top of that, now it seems near impossible to find a pair of the 4s in my size anymore. Maybe I should have taken to hoarding them while I still had the chance!1 -

then osteopath tomorrow to fix all the tight niggly areas (mainly calfs and glutes) before the race on Sunday

Today is supposed to be a 12 mile long run. Today is also the last day of school for 2 of the 3 school kids. The other one is already done (early education). It is a half day of school today. My wife has a volunteer gig this morning so I can't fit in my run after getting kids up and ready for school because I need to keep an eye on little man here until they all get back around 1pm. Had I woke up at 2:45am I could have fit it in but that violates my 3:30ish in the morning rule. We are supposed to get storms, possibly severe at noon. So I will probably get wet for sure, or maybe have to wait until a couple hours later if they are threatening somehow. As long as there are no tornadoes, large hail or excessive zippy-zap then I have no issues running in total deluges. Bring it on Mama Nature!!6

I was away at a wedding all weekend, so I had a lot of catching up to do this morning.
RE: The laundry discussion:
I definitely re-wear running clothes, sometimes. Like many others, I do the smell check. However, now that I will not run two consecutive days (because of my, probably unreasonable, fear of another overuse hip injury), I find myself having to do it much less often. I can also attest to the tech material/spandex/polyester holding smell after a while. As you probably know by now, my boyfriend is a rower. He only competes a few times a year, these days, and it is more of a workout/social thing, but, my god, do unis smell! No amount of soaking, vinegar, sanitary cycle on the washing machine get rid of the sweat and river smell.
Congrats all who ran, both to those who hit your goals and to those who missed them. We all have our good days and our bad, and just getting out there (and finishing) is over half the battle. You did it, and that is something to be proud of!
RE: Small Beat The Blerch discussion:
I REALLY wanted to do the race when it was in New Jersey last year. I am obsessed with Matt Inman. I seriously feel like we could be good friends. He is a (incredibly good looking) nerd with a weird sense of humor, and so am I (minus the incredibly good looking part). However, I was already committed to an 8K race in Delaware with friends that weekend. At the time, I figured it was no issue, I would just do it this year. Little did I realize that they are apparently moving it around the country every year. I had thought about doing the virtual thing, but I would so much rather run with Matt (even though he will blow me away), experience the Blerchs, couches, and cake first hand. Maybe one year it'll come back around, or I will be able to travel to attend one.
Speaking about traveling to attend a race, the Everglades Half Marathon has made it onto my race bucket list. I won't have the vacation time or funding to make my way to Florida this year, but maybe next year. I already tend to end up in Florida at least once or twice per year (I belong there, and I will reside there one day), so I figure I can plan a trip in November. Flat, fast, and through the Everglades - sounds like a fun run!3 -

@MNLittleFinn - This 3 week cycle is 54 mpw with 3 long runs/week. This first week is 12 mile long runs on Mon, Wed, Sat and 6 mile easy/recovery runs Tue, Thu, Sun. The next two weeks I start doing back to back long runs on weekends with the schedule being 12 miles on Wed, 14 on Sat and 10 on Sun with easy/recovery runs on Mon, Tue, Thu.2

5/1 - Rest day after HM to finish April. Another ugly, rainy day.
5/2 - 4.25 miles.
5/3 - 3.1 miles. Quick 5k while my daughter had soccer practice.
5/4 - 4.53 miles. Cool, pleasant morning run. Mostly base pace, but last mile tempo.
5/5 - 4.95 miles on treadmill (Trek class).
5/6 - 4.47 miles. Base pace.
5/7 - 4.84 miles, Market to Market Relay Leg 4
- 4.01 miles, Market to Market Relay Leg 11
5/8 - Planned rest day
5/9 - Unplanned rest day
5/10 - 5.17 miles

OK. The reason I asked was that I was thinking about making my Thursdays "more productive" after my HM in July, buy adding an evening or morning Easy run of like 4-5 miles, in addition to the Fartlek/Tempo intervals/cruise intervals I am scheduling in. Just not sure if it's a good idea or not. Fridays are always off days.0 -

The back to back 10 milers were starting to wear me out, and when I wanted to fit in more miles, I didn't want to get up even earlier. So I started breaking my longer week day runs up and added in the extra mileage in the afternoon.
You can schedule the easier run immedietly after your fartleks or tempos. That is what I was doing until it started to get unmanageable.0 -

Thanks for the info. The reason I was looking at doing doubles was timing, I'm not really wanting to get up at 3:15 to fit in a fartlek or tempo and then an easy run, before my wife leaves for work and I have little man duty.1 -

Did another trail run today. It was not as bad as the first I still feel like a confused baby deer though.
See? I will win you over yet... by the end of the summer you will prefer dirty, smelly running clothes in the woods over clean pretty dresses in the air conditioned mall...2 -
pouring *again* - it's wearing on me
I know the feeling... after a week of running in cold rain and sloppy mud, I just bagged it yesterday. I woke up to more driving rain and said "eff it" (except like I how I normally say it) and took a rest day. This morning it was clear and sunny, so I decided to run, even thought it is a rest day...

5/2 - 30 min indoor cardio, 12 min lower body pilates
5/3 - 3.1 mi run
5/4 - rest day
5/5 - 30 min indoor cardio, 15 min lower body pilates
5/6 - .5 mi walk/4 mi run/1 mi walk
5/7 - 3 mi run, 40 min strength&pilates, 2.3 mi walk
5/8 - 3 mi run
5/9 - 1 hr 40 min of indoor cardio mixed with light strength training, not all at once
5/10 - 25 min indoor cardio A.M. then 3 mile run P.M.
5/11 - 15 min light cardio, 15 min lower body pilates
5/12 - active rest with 40 min light walking throughout the day
5/13 - 3 mi run, 20 min pilates/lower body exercises
5/14 - 3.5 mi walk that should've been a 5 mi run :-/
5/15 - rest day
5/16 - 1 hr 25 min indoor moderate cardio mixed with light strength training
5/17 - 30 min indoor cardio A.M. - 3 mile run P.M.
5/18 - 40 min light walking, 3 mile late evening run
5/19 - 1 hr light walking
5/20 - 4.25 mi run, .5 mi cool down walk, 40 min total body strength and pilates
5/21 - 3 mi run with 4 fast intervals in mile 2 (A.M.) and 3 mile walk (P.M.)
5/22 - 3 mile run
5/23 - So far 15 min light cardio.....after work is kickboxing and strength training
Run goal: 35.44 of 45 miles - I will most likely end up at 50 miles

This is the last week of school here so my schedule is changing, yet again, but in a good way. I'll be home earlier in the afternoons since I won't be getting my son from school (this year he's been getting off school later than I get off work). So hurray for less time in school traffic and more time in my day to workout. LOL
We are saying goodbye this week to the cooler weather we've been having. Lots more 80s coming and no more overnight 50s. So I'll be adjusting to warmer weather running.2 -

Supposed to do week 8 day 1 today, but meh... my energy levels have been kind of zapped the last few days. What do you guys do to get your energy up before a run? Caffeine?0

Few funnies: Yesterday morning when I told my husband I was going running, his exact words were "What is wrong with you?" LOL So I went running and I saw this lady running with her son who couldn't have been over 4. He was running in his PJs and he was very anxious to give me a great big "runner's wave" from well down the street. So cute! Then last night I had this crazy dream that I was running through this complex and parking lot and these people were in my way a long time and I couldn't pass them. So I finally got around them and said something ugly to them (who, me?!) and the one lady started chasing me and I couldn't lose her

The run gives me the energy? It's how I wake up. Normally a mile or so in, I'm feeling totally ready1 -
