    Easiest thing to remember is the Three Hour Rule - don't eat THREE hours before going to bed

    The body burns energy night and day.

    I've lost 79 lbs in the past year and reached goal, and I eat three quarters of my calories an hour or less before bed.

    The "Don't eat X hours before bed" is a myth.

    Best wishes.
    Agreed. Digestion is 24/7. It never stops.

    However, I promise myself to not snack at night if I have no more calories left over.

    ~~~Goals for May~~~
    No eating dinner after 8:00
    No snacking after 9:00 (only fruit)
    May 24
    Me 24*
    LNS: 0
    Streak: 24
    Wow, it's actually getting easier! On a couple days I ate something sweet (trigger food), so I adjusted the my menu. It helped tremendously that night! The REAL test is THIS weekend when for my family reunion, :):|:)
    I think with this being Memorial Day weekend, it's going to be a REAL test for lots of us. As you said to someone else about "making your own rules" and you are probably going to be staying up later due to visiting with everyone, maybe you could adjust your rules as well. Or just stick to your 'fruit only' rule after 9:00. Good luck to you and all of the rest of us, too.
    Digestion isn't 24/7, unless you eat every three hours around the clock.
    Not eating late at night is not a "myth". It is a habit that helps people control their eating, control GERD, and keep to an intermittant fasting schedule if they are doing that. Ultimately it's calories in calories out, but there are many many strategies for managing that, and none are myths. If it helps, it's real.
