All of the data available to me which I analyzed meticulously said I was not recovered enough today so the plan was another easy recovery run.
OK, truth be told it was one data point from my Garmin watch's Recovery Advisor. But it was definitely correct as I was stiff on that first mile, and did probably as much walking as running on the last mile. So the actual "running data" validated the Garmin.
Rest day tomorrow. Then an attempt at a "long run", whatever that may be at this point. I'm going down a familiar 8 mile out and back route, so maybe 8 miles if I have a great day.
9/1 - 2 miles
9/2 - 2 miles
Total 4 of 50 miles

4.5 miles last night for the first run of the month. The first 1.7 miles were with Kody, my lab, and the last 2.8 miles were solo as I ran to the auto mechanic to pick up my car that had to be fixed.
Goal progress:
4.5 of 120 miles
The run went great, with a pace under 9:00 when running solo, but in the last 3 blocks the niggling pain I had in my calf muscle turned into a sharp pain. I've have this niggling pain since last week when I had two long runs. I'm grateful it's just a muscle strain and not my achilles. I had planned an 8 or 9 miler tonight but will skip it and hope I'm good to go on Saturday morning for a short one.
For you USA folks, any plans for the holiday weekend? We'll be heading for the lake on our boat and spending the three days sailing. Weather looks great though some possible showers on Monday. Hope to get in some lakeside runs at least a couple of days but won't sweat it if I don't.7 -

Had dinner with friends last night which resulted in the consumption of too much wine. I have speed work on the schedule for this afternoon. Ugh. Is it okay to swap speed work for a "recovery" run? LOL.2

Decided on a rest day today. Partly because I needed a break after 6 days straight of running, but also partly because all my favorite running clothes are dirty. I need to do laundry--or go on a shopping spree...
Of course, today is the day that it's only supposed to be 75 degrees when I would normally be running. Stupid weather...3 -
A weird run this morning. There seemed to be more traffic at the same time I normally run, some construction, lots of dog walkers and halfway through the run my running app started acting up. The dog had to pee in the middle of a run which she never does, she always waits for the cool down walk. Anyway, I wanted it to be a little bit of a faster run, and while it was a slightly faster than my last run on Tues of 3.1 miles I still felt like I could have gone a little faster......oh well, there are more runs in my future still!
09/01 – Unplanned Rest Day but swam 45 minutes (too hot here to run)
09/02 – 3 miles – Pretty slow pace but faster than last run and AVG HR only 139
Have a happy and safe Holiday weekend!
