...I think I mostly go around the perimeter of the grocery store and down the frozen vegetable aisle. Fully 75% of the stuff in a grocery store is not edible any longer.
There have been many documentaries and comments on how a person should only go around the perimeter of the grocery store as that is where all the "food" is! Great job figuring that out for yourself. The amount of salt in prepared food is very high.
One downside with wanting to eat healthier is having to make all the food I eat from scratch to avoid salt. Much easier to buy premade food, but now it tastes salty. Salt salt salt.
So another thing nobody told me is that after eating healthy food to lose weight, all normal food would be to salty.

As my body detoxes from all the toxins I experience a healing crisis (old wounds or aches happening again or flu like colds but after some research found that they are only detox symptoms)...4

That some people who are thin or actually underweight will suddenly ask you if they are fat. One of my coworkers actually lifted up her shirt to ask if she had "rolls" on her flat stomach. I had no idea that my weight loss would be so disturbing to others.19

People now find it acceptable to tell you how "fat" and "massive" you used to be
You never called me those names to my face when I was fat so why do you think you can now? It was still the same person inside and that same person could also go back to how they were55 -
While an advantage is that you fit so much better in airplane seats when you have lost weight, it does come at a price.
On long long haul flights (like 24 hours in a plane around the world) your behind and sit/hipbones are so utterly sore as there is too little padding to cushion it anymore.12 -
You lose your 'laptop shelf', it used to rest really nicely on my huge stomach now it falls into a deep void and I have to use a pillow

Be careful.of putting your laptop on a pillow. Ot can overheat and damage your computer or start a fire.15

Fitting into airplane seats was one of the reasons I wanted to lose weight. On our final trip before my husband was laid off from the airlines, we were lucky enough to get first and business class seats. I knew that from now on, if I wanted to travel I'd have to buy my tickets and fly coach. Wedging my fat behind in those seats would be adding insult to injury!10 -

Good point! I believe you can buy a version of those cushioned "lap trays" that has built-in cooling for laptops.

Has anyone else found that the willpower you use to lose weight, carries over into the rest of your life?
For me I'm finding it easier to get rid of stuff I've been hauling around since I was born. I have everything I have ever owned, pretty much. I look at others people's "thin" garages - no shelves full of boxes, and I think wow, where is all their stuff. My garage has been going on a diet as well. Not as fast as some people would like, but I'm going through it all.

I fell off a little and was disappointed at the hospital yesterday to see that I gained weight. Can't be mad at anyone but myself. I'm glad this thread always uplifts me and helps me to bounce back....26

Nobody told me that I would ever be sitting in a staff room at a new job, eating lunch and listening to another person talk about losing weight and how hard it is and when I joined in on the conversation, telling a very short version of my journey from where I was to where I am today...that person would say: "I just would never have thought you would have ever had a problem with weight. You are so healthy and thin." If only she would have seen me a year ago when I was 75 lbs heavier...I think she would know I can truly empathize with her.

I second that one! I would add to that the head has some fat to loose as well since two hats that were snug last year are now comfortably loose!

That you can lose 30 lbs and look the same in photos, in the mirror, and to everyone else apparently. 181 to 151, and in much smaller clothing. Weird. (shrugs)13

That people in your life you'd expect to be supportive may only offer temporary support until they realize you're serious this time & making serious progress towards your goals or that they may not be supportive at all.
It surprised me how uncomfortable the 60 pounds I've lost so far has seemed to make overweight friends & family members in my life. It's like people use your fatness as a comfortable buffer zone for their own life/body. (And I'm still very overweight so I assume this experience may only get worse)31 -

YES, I am struggling with this as well!! I can honestly say that I do not have much support from my family or friends and when I do get their "support" it always about them and their constant need to bash themselves. It really hurts to hear all of the time! If they bring up the topic, it's not to hear what you have to say about it, it's more about what they want to say about it or how they are just jealous of you. I eventually learned not to say anything at all. I tend to keep to myself and look to my MFP friends for support. It's quite the lonely road and honestly, something I never expected!25 -

I think you are onto something. It is hard to say anything without implying the person was fat and now is less fat.
Most that lose weight gain it all back so I do think many see but want to wait to make sure we are not just doing another fad diet that is once again is going to fail. People do see more than we think I expect. The first thing I lost was my fat jaws and being an old man I think more people said something to me because I was a male perhaps.7 -

This happens for sure, especially if people don't know you are trying to lose weight. I had the conversation with a co-worker. He said something to me when I had lost about 45 pounds and I asked if he just noticed. He said he had noticed for a while, but didn't really know how to bring it up...especially to women, as so many of us are very sensitive about our weight. Another person that I don't see regularly asked my brother before he said anything to me. He didn't want to say anything in case I was losing weight because I was sick.
I really didn't notice on myself just looking in the mirror, but when we took a family photo at about 40lbs lost, I could tell. It was a wonderful feeling.12 -

Totally agree...I have had friends (now ex-friends) say the same things and even imitated how I looked too...not only do we lose weight but people (toxic) ones too...17
