My grocery trolley is no longer burdened to the hilt with unnecessary food ...and that I now use the express check out lol

Has anyone else found that the willpower you use to lose weight, carries over into the rest of your life? I'm dealing with a financial issue from an auto accident and the at-fault driver's company does not want to pay up. A year ago, I would have accepted their unbelievable low-ball offer just to get it over with. Not any longer! I have pushed and pushed (nicely) and finally got an offer waaaayyy higher than I expected to get. I reasoned to myself that if I had the sheer willpower and drive to force my own body to consume its own energy stores for ten full weeks, I could surely push these guys a little further. Losing just a few pounds, nowhere near my goal, has given me a lot more confidence in all parts of my life.
Yes definitely, I am able to say "no" more and I like the power6 -

Totally! Last year, I was totally demotivated at work and this year I managed to push through a new training for me. Usually I would have ended up not doing it or paying it myself etc. Now my employer is paying it, including travelcosts (time is for me). The best part is, it is a training for me only, not needed at all for my work (though in a weird way related). Managed to convince them that I needed it for personal development.
I am starting later this month and it is going to be a tough 6 months, but I am so happy that I am going to take myself through that challenge I am setting myself.25 -

YES, I am struggling with this as well!! I can honestly say that I do not have much support from my family or friends and when I do get their "support" it always about them and their constant need to bash themselves. It really hurts to hear all of the time! If they bring up the topic, it's not to hear what you have to say about it, it's more about what they want to say about it or how they are just jealous of you. I eventually learned not to say anything at all. I tend to keep to myself and look to my MFP friends for support. It's quite the lonely road and honestly, something I never expected!
I have also been keeping it to myself. I'm fact I just told my husband a few weeks ago I was resolving to not speak to people about it anymore because the conversations aren't pleasant at all after you lose more than a good 30 pounds14 -

I find that I tell everybody what they want to know. Then they either get on board with putting their health first or get bored.
To me its very simple to answer questions:
1 Comic Answer One: I found if I rest my jaw muscles and use my thighs and calf muscle more, I lost weight. Who knew!
2 Comic Answer Two: Its rectal cancer. Im taking donations for my own make a wish foundation. I perfer large unmarked bills. But I am a registered 501c Charity
3 - 2 second Drive By answer. I essentailly eat less and exercise more. Not answer people want to hear. But the devil is in the details.
Details : Kitchen scale, Calorie count and Treadmill and lots of time - 1.5 years.29 -

Oh, I'm never unkind to people, nor do I get outwardly annoyed with them. I just don't get why they ask the question if they don't want to hear the answer? And no, I don't say that to them either. I just say "calorie counting and exercise". You can just watch them switch off because, yes, they are hoping that you've discovered a magic formula that means they don't have to work to achieve a healthier lifestyle. I don't bother saying anything else after the eyes go blank.
But I'm allowed to vent a bit here, aren't I? Because you guys understand30 -

that you can go from rocking it one day everything in control to huge loss of motivation overnight (lost 55 and curently lost motivation) and that it is still a huge part metal game. I'm still plugging away but not feeling that awesome motivation at the moment....where does it go ??
the empowering feeling of losing weight spills to other parts of your life... quit bitting nails after 30 years of biting nails!!27 -

That's a cake I made for a course I was doing. It was torture watching my children eat it and not having any 'cos it wasn't worth the calories. They enjoyed it though

I'm new to MFP forums, but lost 50 lbs toward my goal several years ago. ( then yo-yo plateaued and am here to finally get to the rest of it.) I am currently 40lbs away. I found it somewhat frustrating that all people could focus on was my weight/ body. It was the first and only thing they would talk about when they saw me and I feel like they only saw a body instead of a whole person. I have a pretty rich inner world, talents, interests, etc...so, weirdly enough, even though I was proud of my accomplishments, I also resented people's compliments because I felt objectified. Any one else know how I feel? Am I over thinking this?
To those who feel family didnt support them, YES!! So many people would ask how much I want to lose then discourage me from my goal because it's "too skinny" Ridiculous! Also never expected working out to be such a lonely journey/process. I've become a lot stronger and determined, though!
And on the positive side- getting used to taking up less space is wonderful. Three cheers to the middle seat on the subway! And being able to buy clothes much easier. Having hip bones, clavicles, and a tail bone is pretty nice, too26 -

Yes! I completely understand. I haven't figured out how to deal with it.

I get this A LOT. Knowing that it will happen makes it somewhat easier to deflect when it does. Conversation will go something like this:
Them: Wow, you look great, you've lost so much weight!
Me: Yep, I have, thanks for noticing. You look fabulous as well.
Them: But nothing like you.
Me: Celebrate yourself girl! What else is going on in your world?
Give them a chance to discuss it and them simply move on. The convo will circle back to you, but just keep pushing it in a direction you are more comfortable with.
The ones I find funny are the ones whose eyes about pop out of their head when they see you but never mention it! It truly does get to be comical after awhile. Enjoy it, it won't last forever. And congrats on your loss, OMG, you look fantastic, how the heck did you do it, you must have lost a ton... lol!18 -
That no matter what you do to shape a certain area the fat will come off where it wants to and not usually where you want it to. Just learn to celebrate the fact you are losing and if you continue it will eventually lose in all areas of your body25

I have so much energy now and my husband does not. Makes it kind of hard but he cant keep up with me. I am always running around and he is 7 years younger than me but more laid back. Oh well I just keep busy and he sleeps a lot.9

I was always the heaviest in the class.
The only class I have ever taken that made me want to cry, I went anyway, but it was so upsetting. They say to modify your pose, still no help. But I no longer go, due to $$, not the frustration.

when you try to replace your panties to your matching sets in smaller sizes it is a crapshot if you can find them at all. whines... pouts...6
