What nobody tells you about losing weight

I'm new to MFP forums, but lost 50 lbs toward my goal several years ago. ( then yo-yo plateaued and am here to finally get to the rest of it.) I am currently 40lbs away. I found it somewhat frustrating that all people could focus on was my weight/ body. It was the first and only thing they would talk about when they saw me and I feel like they only saw a body instead of a whole person. I have a pretty rich inner world, talents, interests, etc...so, weirdly enough, even though I was proud of my accomplishments, I also resented people's compliments because I felt objectified. Any one else know how I feel? Am I over thinking this?
To those who feel family didnt support them, YES!! So many people would ask how much I want to lose then discourage me from my goal because it's "too skinny" Ridiculous! Also never expected working out to be such a lonely journey/process. I've become a lot stronger and determined, though!
And on the positive side- getting used to taking up less space is wonderful. Three cheers to the middle seat on the subway! And being able to buy clothes much easier. Having hip bones, clavicles, and a tail bone is pretty nice, too26 -

Yes! I completely understand. I haven't figured out how to deal with it.

I get this A LOT. Knowing that it will happen makes it somewhat easier to deflect when it does. Conversation will go something like this:
Them: Wow, you look great, you've lost so much weight!
Me: Yep, I have, thanks for noticing. You look fabulous as well.
Them: But nothing like you.
Me: Celebrate yourself girl! What else is going on in your world?
Give them a chance to discuss it and them simply move on. The convo will circle back to you, but just keep pushing it in a direction you are more comfortable with.
The ones I find funny are the ones whose eyes about pop out of their head when they see you but never mention it! It truly does get to be comical after awhile. Enjoy it, it won't last forever. And congrats on your loss, OMG, you look fantastic, how the heck did you do it, you must have lost a ton... lol!18 -
That no matter what you do to shape a certain area the fat will come off where it wants to and not usually where you want it to. Just learn to celebrate the fact you are losing and if you continue it will eventually lose in all areas of your body25

For the guys: being able to actually see the low hanging dangling fruit again now when taking a shower...18

That's a cake I made for a course I was doing. It was torture watching my children eat it and not having any 'cos it wasn't worth the calories. They enjoyed it though

I have so much energy now and my husband does not. Makes it kind of hard but he cant keep up with me. I am always running around and he is 7 years younger than me but more laid back. Oh well I just keep busy and he sleeps a lot.9

I'm cranky and depressed when I don't work out.

ETA- I was THE ONLY overweight person in a full class...
I was always the heaviest in the class.
The only class I have ever taken that made me want to cry, I went anyway, but it was so upsetting. They say to modify your pose, still no help. But I no longer go, due to $$, not the frustration.

Look on the bright side - it's always the girls in matched sets who die first in horror movies, right? So it's safer this way...

@orange_hoodie Right!?!?
And, thanks for that @MimiOfTheLusciousLawn I am going to save that and come prepared next time! It's kind of disturbing, though. For all we are told just to go out there and be ourselves, not be self conscious and stuff because no one is looking at us... it's not strictly true, is it. I think that's what gets under my skin, the feeling that people are always watching. LOL OK going into paranoia mode now.
OH! Also. Can I add? BEING ABLE TO TIE MY SHOES AND BREATHE AT THE SAME TIME!! HOLLA! Made combat boots much more fun to wear16 -
I am hyper personality and hubby is laid back, I lost weight and I am more hyper, lots of energy and I guess it is not so good for him but I have to keep busy, very busy now that I feel good.6

Gets maddening at times, right?3 -
- don't size wedding rings until you're done and maintong a weight
- You will find bones (my collar bones and hip bones were the first I found)
- Friends and family don't always support. Keep pushing through anyways!
- Don't weigh yourself every day
- yoga pants, track pants, and baggy shirts will be your best friends
Then at the end.... YOU DID IT!!20 -
That you'll keep the subject quiet so you are not sabotaged or discouraged.34

that a workout would clear my headaches and that sickly grotty feeling - it's a real tonic.13

+ That I would love giving and getting hugs. I used to hide from them because I was embarrassed that I was so wide.
+ That I would have so much energy! I used to sleep 10 hours a night, have two cups of coffee, and a 1-2 hour afternoon nap to get through the day. I've had no coffee, no naps, and sleeping 8 hours a night for the last 2 months. I feel amazing!
+ That I would actually be able to tell when I was getting sick! Before I felt crappy all the time. This morning I woke up and I knew immediately that I was coming down with something and sure enough at 1pm my cold hit me with full force. Healthy me vs sick me is blatantly obvious now.34
