WOMEN AGES 50+ FOR NOVEMBER 2016

ok peeps -
the weather for the run was OUTSTANDING!! kirby did have issues on his run. for the 1st time, we walked some of it, we NEVER walk any of it. to give you an idea 2 years ago, when we first did it, it was 4hrs 38min.. last year, he did it at 4hrs 22min. this time he did it over 1-1/2hours longer, 5hrs 37min, 12sec. that's 12.52minute mile when the other times were more like a 10min. mi.
on the positive side:
out of 222 males, he was 168th.
in his age group, he was 13th out of 19
at the 1/2 marathon point, he was doing a 10.34min mi pace. it was the last half that killed him.

at mile 8, i saw that his right arm was involuntarily spazzing, shaking. he said it didn't hurt, it was just shaking. i switched over to the other side of him to hold his hand so it would stop. i later noticed that i kept running faster than him and i kept slowing down to stay with him. after about the 5th time of doing that, i asked him if he was ok (we usually don't talk to each other while running, we're all business). he said that his legs were reverting back to the way they were when he was first learning how to run again, the brain wasn't signaling to his legs telling them what they need to do. at around the 14th mile or so, he had to stop and walk, he couldn't run. from that point on,we jogged and walked. i just stayed with him and encouraged him. i just kept telling him how awesome he is and he is doing so well after just a year, during the tail end, roughly 23rd mile, he said, this will be my last marathon, i can't do this anymore. i told him whatever he wants to do is ok w/me. after it was over, then he said he wants to do it again, so who knows. i will be there if he does or doesn't. after the run i video'd his leg spazzing and shaking. he said both of these things that were happening didn't hurt at all, that was a blessing.

i did mention to him that he didn't train the way we normally would have before, his furthest distance was 12-13 miles which is NOT 20 so he didn't know how his body would respond at that distance.
The great thing was that he didn't have an involuntary bladder or bowel movement during the run. he had a adult diaper for the run to ensure that nothing accidental happened.

For me, i was just running with him and THANKFULLY i didn't cramp up the way i did last year and that's because i was running a lot slower pace so i wasn't pushing my pace the way i did last year.

My time on the run is really irrelevant because i was doing it with him and i was slow because i was doing it with him, i was roughly the same pace because we crossed the finish line at the same time. I will post the videos of his had and leg shaking later.

Staying with mom was a little stressful, she is doing better by the time i got there which was good. she uses a walker and we spent most of the time with her. mom is mom and she can get on my nerves but thats mom. i told my sister to keep me informed on her progress and if she sees that she's getting worse to let me know and i will go back and spend time with her. someone is with her 24/7 either my sister, one of her kids and one of my brothers. as far as she's concerned, assisted living is NOT an option for her, or selling the house etc... you have to remember, she's old school, it is what it is with her.

i hate long posts and i don't really read them when i see them but this i know i have not posted about the run or kirby.
my stats on the run:
i was 264th out of 369
i was 95th email out of 147
in my age group i was 12th out of 19th
at the 1/2marathon mark i was at a 10:36ap
12:53minute mile
the thing i feel good about with this stat is i know i would have been capable of a lot faster than this and i held back because i was running with him.
