Hello everyone. I'm Sheryl from Michigan and I'm glad to join this community. I am 61 and had both hips replaced over the summer but I'm back to my exercise routine, even if it is somewhat modified. It's the food quantities I really need to work on. My first goal is to stop eating after 7:00 pm since it seems like the nighttime eating gets me into the most trouble. Happy New Year everyone21

beth love your goals, checking in even if reading not posting, has been critical for me.
I have to face the fact that I keep losing and gaining the same 5 pounds!!!! Yeesh
Also, I am participating in an uber frugal-no spending kind of month. I already track expenses just like calories but I went off the rails December with $-out (and yes calories in!). So I am renewing my commitment to lower our food waste, not eat out and in general prepare Real Foods--not processed foods to reset my finances and health for the new year.
I am so inspired reading everyone's reflections and resolutions! NYKAREN11 -
Well grocery shopped and just got the rest of car cleaned out... Gonna put groceries away .Tom went to see his dad and then I'm sure over to the girlfriends house....3

Mary from Minnesota – Thanks for the links; I have emailed Tiffany; one of these websites said that it, basically could not open, error message. The other one went to a page basically stating that it was fun. I know I got a ‘confirmation email’ about it and I thought I was in. ?????
Michele – Either way, cat or dog, sorry you have to end up having to give him/her any kind of seizure meds. I’m sure watching Loki have a seizure is about as difficult as watching a child have one.
My eye is still driving me nuts!!!!!
My plans for this year are:
To use the DVDs that I got from you, a minimum of 3x a week.
1) To find out if I actually got registered in time for the Keto-whatever program that Mary sent me the information, or not and work it if I am.
2) Have a more positive outlook on things that are beyond my control.
3) Walk a minimum of 20 minutes on treadmill, whether I feel like it, or want to.
4) Enjoy this ‘blessed life’ I have been given, and Praise God for giving this to me.
5) Clean out studio so I can get back into it and do some painting.
6) Find something ‘new’ to learn this year and do it.
7) Be more careful in what I say to others.
8) Continue de-cluttering the rest of my house; and
9) Enjoy every day and find the good in people, things, and places.
OK, now to see how many I can actually do.
DH cooked a great breakfast this AM, he always cooks breakfast on the weekends. He was home Friday and cooked then, too … so it messed me up on days … I am not able to keep up with my days when he does … makes me think that the 3rd day he cooks, as if he is home cooking on a Monday.
Going to the “Walk-In Clinic” … hopefully they can give me something to put in my eye; because I ‘claw it out’!

Barbie! I forgot to thank you so much for keeping us on this amazing journey by starting this thread over each month. It is truly a blessing to put the old month (and this month, the old year!) behind and start fresh each time. You have such an awesome spirit and are an inspiration to me daily.
Love,

A New Year, so new monthly goals are in order.
- I had gotten a bit sloppy logging last month, so I will get myself back on track.
- I promised myself I would work in at least 4 days a week some form of exercise to get back to where I was in early November.
- I like the mindset 'be lighter', so I will try my best to work this new goal into my life this month.
The neighbor's New Year/White Elephant exchange was it's usual over the top fun. I will take a picture of what 'treasure' I came home with and the story behind it on another post later.
The pink flamingo umbrella was well received. Folks kept avoiding picking the box it was hiding in thinking they would end up with 'that leg lamp.' Finally the hostess bit and picked the box. It was the right gift for the right person.
Charleen in Colorado ( So looking forward to cleaning out the frig of all that 'stuff' and get back to eating healthy)4 -
Hi I wish you all the very best in this New Year. I started this journey about 5 weeks ago. Have only lost a few pounds. I am 67 and have torn Miniscus in knee along with psoriatic arthritis and fypromyalgia .. I try my best to stay on track and fill my diary out daily. Even with my difficulty of walking I do get out and walk in shops every second day. It is at slow pace but I am moving. I am so discouraged as only have lost 2 pounds. I am eating 1200 calories a day. Wondering if I eat more protein then carbs would that work better. I am also looking for some other ladies who are seniors who I can have for support. Thanks Barb from Ontario6

I am going to have one more day of light eating/no alcohol and then weigh myself to see the holiday damage on Tuesday.
While DSIL and boyfriend were here we arranged to go up to London on Friday this week to meet them. We will go to a famous Soho pub at 4 pm and then on to the Israeli café. I will look to see what exhibitions are on for DH and me to go to before hand. Lovely!

Gayle- I had asked everybody to join the 40 pound loss challenge by the end of May. You can join in with us on this thread. I will post the challenges and we can encourage each other here!
Lenora - that page that I sent you you have to scroll all the way down to the bottom for the different thread. Check that out and see if that works. Otherwise, I know Tiffany can help you.

Happy New Year!!
I'm so glad to be a member of this group. Got a very nice surprise when I got on the scales this morning. I'm down to 299 from 305 in a little over one week. Great way to start off the new year. I was not sure if the ketogeic diet and intermittent fasting would work but it seems to be working quickly. I'm diligently logging my food and water intake daily on MFP and have managed to drink more water and eat less than my allowed calories each day and NOT BE HUNGRY. Wow! Now I just need to get this inflammation down so I can start walking more and get off of this blood pressure medication.

debbieinva & Anita: Welcome. This group has been active for a long time lead by our fearless leader Barbie. You've come to a great place.
Well, I didn't do as well on my December goals as I usually do. But in the interest of being kind to myself I will not beat myself up, it really was a difficult month on many fronts. Looking forward to January. I need to reflect more on what I want my goals to be.
Happy New Year to all!

Happy New Year!
40lbs by May 27th Challenge
The task for today if you choose to participate is to take your measurements! Common measurement places are;
Neck
Biceps
About chest
Below chest
Waist
Upper thighs
Calfs
A lot of the time especially if you are exercising you may see loss in inches instead of weight. Good luck everyone!

Many of you know that I am a great fan of Gretchen Rubin and her writings about happiness. I have my own happiness commandments and often use one of them as one of my resolutions for the month.
I recently found this list (not from Gretchen Rubin) and wanted to share it with you.
Nine Things to Give Up If You Want to Be Happy
1. The need for approval
2.The need to impress others
3. The need to always be right
4. Dwelling on the past
5. Resistance to change
6. Negative self-talk
7. Limiting beliefs
8. Blaming others
9. Complaining

Lenora hope eye issue quickly heals. Do you wear contacts?
Allie I think you are smart to do your normal routine until you get your ducks in a row. It must be hard, but know I am praying for you during this time.
Happy New Year Friends!
Posted this yesterday:
KINDNESS and logging are my resolutions for 2017
I was already thinking about kindness when I saw on the news that at Times square they are going to be dropping notes about being kind. It was also a topic for Parade Magazine. Doesn't surprise me after 2016.
The mantra is don't be mean in 17.
Thanks for the reminder on how to change colors. I put it in my word documents.

Happy New Year from Alaska.
Turning 52 at the end of January and want to lose 50 lbs this year. This looks like a great balance of motivated people willing to get the job done
My husband does all of the cooking but he's willing to help me out. His mum and grandmother were chefs from Denmark who had their own restaurant in San Francisco. They taught him how to cook and he loves it .. but its heavy on the cheese and sauces. I'm also a type II diabetic, and am looking forward to better sugar control.
The furry faces attached are going to get a work-out this year. We have 4 dachshunds. The eldest not pictured here is 18, named Eddy-Spaghetti. These 3 are two (Ruby May (red), Mali Summer (dapple), and TyTy Stryker (long haired male). Last summer I broke my left foot tripping over one of my weener's on a trail walk. We're going to be more careful this year

Happy New year my cyber sisters. It sure is quiet when my 10 year old DGD leaves. Her 15 year old sister is a typical teenager, always has her phone and reading what ehr friends are doing. My two daughters are always noisy together. But I am so glad they love each other and totally enjoy each others company. They have left but we have a store here in Evansville called $5below. Everything is $5 or less and you can get pretty much everything. Michelle always gives her nieces $20 a piece for Christmas but I think what they enjoy most is she takes them to this store and they have a ball. So for $20, they get 4 gifts. My son in law loves it that he can get things like Star Wars or Dr. Who shirts for $5. So the house is quiet, most of the food is gone except turkey, turkey and more turkey. I think Michelle bought about 32 pounds of turkey this year.
This oil nasal spray that the ENT specialist ordered really does the job in keeping my nose moist, plus using the humidifier at my side constantly. It's not in the kitchen when I am eating but I'm in the living room most of the time.
Allie, hugs to you. As you all know, we have had our share of marital issues but we know we love each other and are devoted to each other. Big hugs.
