What nobody tells you about losing weight

Lose enough weight and wine starts to pack a good punch...38

What no one ever told me was how easy it would be to lose weight if I'd just count my calories faithfully. Calorie counting apps are a godsend if you are trying to lose weight. They forced me to make hard decisions every day about what I was shoving into my gob and it works. I made smarter choices, meaning choices that would keep me full and satisfied all day long so that sticking to my calorie goals was really, really easy. I'd lost about 60 lbs, down from 240 to 180, over the space of about 10 years but always down and then up, down and then up. I wanted to lose that last 20 and get my BMI under 25 for the first time in 20 years and the weight just fell off over 3 months starting in September. Easily holding steady at this point and still counting calories every day.35

My head thinks I can drink like I used to.... My non-existent memory and hangover the following day tell me otherwise...

@HappyCampr1 I was thinking the same thing lol. I enjoy my workouts a lot and I never have have to force myself to do it, but I also really like my rest days, I don't get antsy or restless at all haha.6 -
I bought new clothes in misses sizes and came to the realization that I will need a smaller phone next time I upgrade. I don't have phablet sized pockets on anything now and have to carry a purse.18

Food extacy. When you eat clean and when you are actually hungry, everything tastes SO VERY GOOD. I had a grilled tortilla, tomato, and ricotta and swooned from the flavors. Not that I wanted to keep consuming- I was overwhelmed by flavor and equally satisfied by it.
I am totally with you on this one. If I ever have a small amount of something sweet now, the flavour is so intense. Like you, I do not find it necessary to have more. In fact, it actually makes it so much easier to stop at a small amount rather than binging until the treat is no longer even pleasurable.3 -
My eyes were going to suddenly look alien O_O i guess with a slimmer face my eyes just go O_O constantly8

This. So much this.
And the smaller phone doesn't fix it either since I had the smallest available. I just spent the day waiting in line to upgrade my dead phone because there is only so many times it can fall out of the child sized pockets and not break and I surpassed that number this week. Tomorrow's agenda is phone case and a purse.9 -
- Having a coworker tell me I approach weight loss like an engineer
- Talking about weight loss strategies for nearly an hour with another coworker (instead of working )
- Being told I look like I'm in my late 30s
- Being told not to lose anymore weight because I've lost too much
- Not being able to sleep on my stomach because the lack of belly makes my back hurt
- Getting to wear sweaters
- Getting asked to write a testimonial for my trainer
- Inspiring at least two people at work to follow my lead
I was excited to write a testimonial for my trainer, he even used before and after pictures. This was all sent out in a flyer for the gym I belonged to. Funny when people brought it to me at work14 -

Freaking. Day. And then, if i eat unhealthy for a day or two, i feel disgusting and i start sleeping and pooping a lot. Seriously, it's like my body is saying to me, "What the *kitten* are you doing?? You've put in all this hard work and you're just going to stop? No, keep going, your legs like feeling the burn, your stomach likes digesting healthy stuff! Why are you quitting???"
THIS!!!
I have started to realize in the last few weeks that this was my problem. I have noticed that days I don't get some form of exercise in, I'm more fidgety and irritable. I notice that I don't have as much patience for my toddler demanding the red cup instead of the blue one or my oldest's refusal to pick up one mess before making another. I also have noticed that when I over indulge I really feel it the next day. I feel really bloated and I don't sleep well. Just reaffirms that I need to keep cheat days or meals to occasionally. My body is now craving fruits, veggies, and lean protein. How crazy is THAT?13 -
Today I ate at Sams cafe two slices of cheese pizza and I was so full when before I could of have eaten three or four plus the soda drink. My stomach has really shrunk for real.13

That sometimes compliments feel awkward because you aren't sure how to to respond, especially when they are passive aggressive
That people will ask for help on how to lose weight but aren't willing to track calories, consider using a food scale and avoid restriction of entire food groups. I mean, how do you expect me to help you? I can't eat at a deficit for the both of us....
You know how people say you seem to get hungrier the smaller you get? I swear it's true. I've been in maintenance for nearly a month because I keep going over my goal. I'm okay with this. Not gaining means I've still REALLY changed my eating habits. And I can feel that I'm starting to refocus.

Their questions can be hard to answer.
I just tell them I decided to stop trying to lose weight and just stopped eating foods that contains no added sweeteners and/or any form of grains.0 -

Down 95 pounds
Yeah I went from 232 to 155 and iv been hovering at 155 all month. I'm STARVING constantly now when before I had no issues at all. Not sure if it's mental because the disgusted by yourself motivation is gone or truly a thing but it feels real. Sadly even going over the 200-300 calories has definatly effected my weight loss almost entirely sadly xD it's okay tho look how hot we look after all our work already13 -

Is this for real? I swear this past week I could have easily eaten half the planet, I've been so hungry! So many huge salads/stir fries/etc to keep within my calorie allowance but still being able to eat ALL THE THINGS!

Yep, I've had the same problem. Last week I put it down to TOM but I don't have an excuse this week . . . . although, thinking about it, I actually noticed that the ravenous hunger began when I started strength training about six weeks ago. Fed up with trying to kill the hunger with water5 -

I've noticed this happens to me when I'm about to drop a couple pounds -- woosh -- all at once. I just ignore the hunger as best I can. I figure my body is going, "Do you REALLY want to do this? Because once it's gone, it's gone ..."36 -

I've recently started losing again after regaining thanks to my medication (it's levelled out now and I can lose again safely)
Anyway, my boss and assistant manager were asking me about it. I said I'm just counting calories. No! They say. That can't be it? That's too simple. Then they get asking by about my weight lifting. Oh obviously it must be from that. That's why they can't lose the weight, cause they can't find the time.
Omfg it's so annoying!!!!
Edited to add, yes chairs don't sink below me randomly anymore either lol13
