I'm a walker, usually 5-7 per day, plus whatever I walk doing my daily chores. Yesterday I went to the high school track to walk and for some unknown reason, decided to jog for half a lap just to see how it felt. It felt pretty good, so then I tried a full lap which turned into a lap and a half. I finished off with walking the rest because I have a bad knee and bad back and want to see how they feel the day after.
This morning I feel good, no knee or back.issues, but do have a tightness on my shins which I think will walk out once I get moving around today.
I haven't jogged since High School, over 40 years ago which proved that it is never too late to get fit. I may just try C25k!44 -
Today, my bf told me I was getting my waist back, and he noticed more definition between my butt and thighs. Also insisting I buy smaller shirts. According to him, bagging clothes on me is unattractive and he wants me to stop flashing everyone when I bend over. Guess I need to give in and buy smaller shirts.17

Since I started logging again everyday, I've been taking note of the nutritional content of my food as well as the calorie content. I've noticed that I'm consistently not getting enough calcium, iron, and potassium and am now trying to find ways to change that. That means that I've begun focusing more on how I can get more healthy nutrients into my body than on how I can cut out empty calories to slim down, though that is also an important goal. It's a subtle change, but it makes all the difference in terms of motivation. I'll take a self-care approach over a self-deprivation mindset any day!28

Thereshegoesagain, when I read through all 490 pages of these NSVs, every time I saw your picture I was happy because you are so inspiring, and my age (just 40 years post high school). I am just beginning my weight-loss journey and have a long, long way to go. 2 weeks ago I decided to try C25k, and I got through the first week just fine. However, I decided to wait about 20 lbs. to repeat and continue because I will feel more comfortable knee-wise. But if you can run 1.5 laps around the track, you will find week one a total piece of cake!!! It was fairly easy for me, and I couldn't make it once around at this point. I'll bet you would enjoy it. I look forward to getting back to it in a few weeks.

Way to go!! I am doing C25k now and love it! If your shins ache and you believe it may be shin splints, I would watch a YouTube video on proper running form. I had an issue with shin splints when I started and realized I was landing on the wrong part of my foot while jogging. Changed my form and haven't had an issue since!

Started a 30 day squat challenge in addition to my gym visits This time last year didn't do any exercise at all14

I ate & logged half a slice of b-day cake yesterday.... and didn't go shove some more in my face at night when everybody was sleeping like I would have done in the past LOL32

My husband asked me what I've been doing to perk up my booty because he noticed a change!20

It's been a couple weeks since I checked in on this thread, so my NSV is a week old. Two years ago, I tried doing the c25k program and made it 4 weeks before letting my pregnancy become my excuse to quit. Well, last Monday, our temperature got up to high 30s/low 40s, and it was just beautiful out! I got my mom to come watch my son and I went for a run. Started week 1, day 1, and let me tell you, that was so much easier with 30 pounds less!! I was actually able to run further during the 60 second times than ever before!!22

I recently set a new 5K PR on a training run. This past Sunday I ran my first competitive race of the year and was hoping to beat my best by 10-15 seconds. I didn't beat it... I crushed it by almost 2 whole minutes.17

So at my largest I'd never been able to fasten the seatbelts in the back seats of cars around me. They were always too small. Well yesterday, I hopped in the back of an Uber because there was already someone in the front and decided to try and fasten the seatbelt. Lo and behold, it fastened, and not uncomfortably so. I grinned for the rest of the day. It's these milestones of progress that keep me striving for my ultimate goal.41

This weekend was filled with NSVs because I was able to log both days and exercise both days. Granted some of my food choices were not the best, but the fact that I did not ignore the journey is a big NSV for me.18

My clothes fit so much better! Nothing is "too big" yet, but it's all "comfortably loose".
Also...I'm not hating every picture taken of me!21 -
Today, I wore my daughter's size 16 jeans and my son's size large hoodie! Score!27

Had to drive my daughter to her soccer practice today. Instead of hanging out at Starbucks or Tim Hortons, I grabbed my skates and skated on a beautiful outside rink for half an hour! It makes me want to go to Ottawa to skate on the canal!33

Siegfried, I love seeing your NSVs because it's so obvious how affected you are by them, and how much they motivate and inspire you... it's wonderful to see! I hope your partner is as proud of you as we are!14 -
1. I am back (after a lot of false re-starts); logged in for 5 days but my mind set is just different from the other times.
2. I have drank at least 1l of water everyday for the past 5 days. This is dramatic for me; previously I could just go with one glass a day.
3. I was exhausted yesterday and dinner (which I have no control over) was fatty pork curry where you could see the grease. I also had a chocolate slice which put me slightly over my calories. Normally this would have been enough to stop me. But here I am back again with 400 calories remaining for dinner.27 -
I had a bad day yesterday. For some reason, I was just in a really bad head space. So, I ate very, very poorly. But...for the first time, I made my peace with it. One bad day is not enough to derail my efforts. I have been under my calorie goal every day for the last 4 weeks (since I restarted MFP after almost a year). One day over budget will not define me. Today, it's right back on track. This is big for me, as one bad day would usually throw me off plan for good.28

You definitely should! I live in Ottawa and one of my favourite things about this time of year is busing to the far end after work and then skating the whole canal.11 -
This Sunday the BF was feeling down, we had no plans besides watching the Super Bowl. I asked him what he wanted to do for the beginning of the day. He had no ideas. So I tossed out about 10 different ones. I would say at least 3/4 of them were some kind of physical activity. (A year ago, I would have suggested movies, video games and staying in bed) We ended up going roller skating.25

Have not done that since I was a kid. On the wrong side of the country these days, but it does sound like fun.4 -

Yesterday I blasted past my 5 mile walk goal (very hilly, some steep) and did 6 miles. My bad knee and back didn't hurt once, and I'm not sore today. Three weeks ago, there's no way I could've done that without seriously paying for it.22

Years ago I would hike the trail up Camelback Mountain, and would get headaches on the way from exhaustion. I had never even tried Piestewa Peak, as it looked even steeper and more intimidating. On Sunday I finally made it up Piestewa and I was fine. Tired, yes, but not dying.28

I have lost enough weight so that I can wear my wedding rings again, which were so tight 6 months ago they caused me to sprain my finger.23

The scale actually moved a pound down. Which I realise is technically a Scale Victory.
However, my scale hasn't moved in two weeks. I have only really lost 2 pounds since I started working out and eating healthy. That was 5 weeks ago.
So I'm waiting for my whoosh and it isn't a whoosh. It's a trickle.
And I get bummed and eat some chocolate and STAY UNDER MY CALORIE GOAL AND STILL GO TO THE GYM TODAY AND I'm not letting it stop me.
Did I make a post on the food and nutrition forum? Yes. Was it a bit whine-y? God yes. But I'm not stopping.
This is the longest I have been healthy and not given up, despite ZERO results.
That's my NSV. My new found willpower and determination.34 -
