You're broken....
Normally don't work Wednesday nights but we had qualifications for firearms so I'm covering. They gave me Friday night off in exchange. Don't know what I'll do with a Friday night off...I haven't had one in a LOOOOOOOOOOONNNNG time....2 -

Our Night Animal Techs work 8 days straight(10 hours) and then get 6 days off. I want THAT schedule!
They work Wednesday to Wednesday. I think it's beautiful.
But maybe I only think I want it because I don't have it. Then again, I have worked 12 hour days for 10 days straight before and only having 2 days off after that was not enough.0 -

You'll find something to do. Clean house. Drive mom around. Try a new recipe....0 -
I always spend them sleeping! Except this week, when I agreed to work some extra hours. Good thing Spring break is next week.0

'Good mornin' all, lol. Starting set of nights tonight.... glad I had 4 nights off as I am sore and exhausted and tummy keeps randomly acting up. Something niggling in the back of my head tells me maybe I should get tested for parasites... not feeling up to par since we got back from 3 wks in Jamaica in December (and no, we didn't stay at all-inclusives).
Here's hopes for healthy pets and healthy co-workers this week.0 -
Lots of storms moving through just north of where I am. It rained really hard for about 20 minutes.0
-
Also, this week's wildlife sighting was a racoon that waddled through the parking last night.1
-
Big storms rolling through here. Expecting 14 inches of snow tonight. Got six last night. The skiing should be great.0
-
I have 12 hrs to go...lol0
-
Yuk, more bloody snow here but temperatures mean it's nasty in the valley. 0 to -2C then melting with highs of 8C by the afternoon again. Hubby & I want to go away for our 35th anni. but seems like every night all the major highways are under snow warning and travel alerts. It will be last minute plans for sure. At least maybe the hot springs 3 hours from us.0
-
Ew. Temps have been in the 70s all week here, but it's dropping now, and I heard it was supposed to snow today or tomorrow. Bleck!0
-
I have also seen a couple of stray cats at work, but I'm sadly finding they are not interesting in being petted. *sad panda*1
-
Night one of three almost over. Just got a good workout in. Started snowing, although I think we are expecting only about one inch. Hope everyone is having a good night and staying safe.0

They asked me if I'd pick up some extra hours covering a special event at the city art museum this week. It looks they're gonna have a regular contract here for about the next six week, and my boss thinks it's a good gig for me. I don't know yet what they're gonna do, but this place is pretty cool!2
-
Good for you Jen. Sounds like a fun gig.0

Thanks!1

Oh I have a phone interview with Wells Fargo. Not my 'ideal' job but it will help me pay off debts and get back into/through school. They have tuition reimbursement, so that's nice.
I keep getting told to "stick it out" and that I'll "be off nights before you know it" or "so-and-so is going to retire in January"
PUH-leez. "So-and-so" was saying he was going to retire in August. Now he is saying January. What's to say he just doesn't decide to leave?
I LIKE the benefits of the state job but working nights is now a MASSIVE drawback for me. I don't like being told something is going to happen about a change in shifts and then NOTHING happens.
I need 3 days off in a row if I'm going to continue working nights OR I need to find a daywalker job. It's unfortunate but it's what has to happen in order for me to maintain some form of order/happiness in my life.
So this turned into an "in person" interview for the next day. Then I got a call on Thursday(I was hanging out with Alycia, who I haven't seen in FOREVER) and they offered me the job! AND $1.10/hr above my current pay, I get quarterly bonuses, 401k, insurance benefits, yearly raises, and I'm excited. I am waiting until the background check comes back clean, per the recruiting specialist Allecia's instructions, then I will put in my notice. I am thinking sometime next week. *fingers crossed* I should be out of here by the end of the month.
This is going to make things pretty rough for the people I am leaving here at the detachment, but after the argument I just had with PSO Reece about marking alarms correctly, I don't feel so badly about it now. Mostly, I am happy I will be working days again AND Allecia was very adamant over the phone that she wants to see me move up a bit in the company branch because apparently I scored REALLY high on the interview. I am not sure at ALL how their scoring works, but I have no problem being promoted(most of the time).
Though Chad wasn't as enthusiastic as I had hoped about the new job, he did invite me to meet his sister and nephew on Monday. This is a big deal because we've been doing this "thing" for almost 2 years and in the beginning he was adamant about not meeting each other's family.
So, new job, new school, and I just bought The Sims4 Deluxe Edition.... I am also back down to my initial goal weight of 164. Took me a while after the vacation and surgery stuff but I hope to be at my ultimate goal weight by November.
Gotta give myself plenty of time.7 -
That made me tired0

Congrats @BodyByBex - More money, bonuses, and a 401k plus yearly raises and good benefits. Happy to hear about your success!0
-
@BodyByBex - Congradulations on the job! Those are fantastic benefits.0
-
@BodyByBex -sounds like a great opportunity, congrats!0

WooHoo! Congrats Bex!
Black ice meant cautious travel home tonight. Wet roads from snowmelt and sleetiness earlier today and temps of 0C. Yuk.
Supposed to get up to 11C for the next couple days... heading away for the weekend Sun-Wed to celebrate our 35th anniversary at an Icelandic Horse farm by a hot spring. Planning a tour of an artisanal cidery too. It's supposed to rain the whole time, but whatevah!0 -
@BodyByBex WOOHOO!!!!!!!! On everything!
It's currently snowing outside but not sticking to the roads. It's looks really pretty though. I'm not digging the fact that it's 33F out; I want 70s and 80s back. Of course it won't be too long before I start complaining that it's too hot/humid out0 -
Hello fellow nightshifters. I am very excited to have been told about this group.1
-

Yes I did. Last night was anything but boring. Pretty sure I burned some calories here at work tonight. Now I'm ready for bed, but not going to happen for a few more hours. I have to take my daughter to the dr for and MRI for her migraines. Curious...what schedules are followed for working out? and eating? When you log here do you log from midnight or from YOUR am? Hope my questions make sense.0
