Tour de France CHALLENGE!

Who rode today, 7/21?
I did not ride today. The dentist took 2 hours this morning and it was too late and too hot to ride by the time I got home. Grrr. I did swim, though. Swimming in 105 degree weather isn't as bad as biking. I still might bike before bed, but the temps got to get below 95 first... which might not happen. Maybe I can talk my husband into setting up my road bike on the trainer in the living room in front of the TV while I watch the Tour...
Andy Schleck is AWESOME!
Be careful out there!

By the way, I'm thinking of doing a similar challenge during the Vuelta Espana (August 20 to September 11), also known as the Tour of Spain.0 -
7/21- in for 90 minutes covering about 23 miles. Knee didn't feel too bad unless I was trying to muscle up a hill rather than gearing or dancing it.
I would be up for another challenge....might help to keep me on my bike after RAGBRAI when the miles tend to really drop off.
Hope everyone stays cool and safe!0 -

I am glad your knee is better; this should make your long ride more enjoyable.0 -
I was NOT going to ride today but I kinda had to. So I'm in for 50 minutes.0

I'm in for 40 minutes / 10 miles for 7/21.0

Who rode today, 7/22?
218.75 pound woman on 32 pound bike in heatwave riding for 2 hours+ (22 miles in neighborhoods). Not smart. Just about over come by heat. Got home and barely made it into the house, only to find Mr. Wonderful sitting in the shower looking like death warmed over (he did his own, much farther, much faster ride). I just stood there unable to speak. He looked up and croaked,"You look like I feel." I climbed in and we had a cold shower until we felt slightly more clear-headed. Yuck. I'm so over the heat. I cut the ride a few miles short because I thought I was getting overheated and confused (I was right).
Be careful out there! It's way too hot.
Andy Schleck in yellow!

I rode yesterday AND today! I went early today, learned my lesson from yesterday. Want to see what cycling has done for me? The gray t-shirt on the right is one of my favorites from last year. I still wear it to sleep in sometimes. The clothes on the right are my cycling clothes that I wear now. "One of these things is not like the others..."

And yes, the gray one on the right IS a t-shirt. It's not a tent. :laugh:0
-
7/22- did a ride around town for about 12 miles in 52 minutes.
I load up tomorrow morning to head west for the big ride. I have 454 miles ahead of me next week (give or take depending on where I meet up with my sag crew). So fingers crossed everyone for nice cool and dry weather (and right now that is the forecast).0 -

Great job. I've dropped from 5X shirts to 3x shirts just this year, so I can relate.0 -
7-22 - Just road 11 miles / 56 minutes after dark tonight. Could not ride this morning, due to a schedule conflict...0

Got in 38 minutes / 10 miles for 7/22.0

Rode 21 miles this morning; at 462 for the month. Keep up the great riding everyone; stay cool out there.0
-
Didn't ride yesterday 7/23 or Thursday 7/22 due to work schedule. I'd be up for a Vuelta Challenge! I plan on getting in a ride and swim today.
@tetedelacourse.. What a great picture! It's nice to have that clear visualization of all your hard work. Congrats!!! :drinker:0 -
I'm up for a Vuelta challenge too!
Skywalker: Thank you! It definitely put it in perspective for me.0 -
Friday 22nd...in for the minimum with ride around town in the fixie
(basically a shakedown ride after swapping brakes levers/cables)
In for later today with the work commute.0 -
Who rode today, 7/23?
Tete stole my grey t-shirt! HAHAHAHA! Somewhere (on a back up drive, probably) I still have a photo of me at 270 pounds (7 or 8 years ago). Scary.
How do I post a photo?
I did the hilly neighborhood loop three times today and finished 1:30 faster than the previous best from a few days ago. WOOT! Then, I drove the team car while Mr. Wonderful climbed a near by 9 mile mountain, twice. He's nuttier than I am! I'd post a picture to prove it but I don't know how...
Be careful out there! It's way too hot.
Have a great RAGBRAI, hawkeyegal!
I have love love loved this Tour de France, this year!

7/22- Went for about a 45 minute ride this morning. Just enough to hit 2,000 training miles for the season.
Here's what my riding will look like for the next week on RAGBRAI.
Day 1: 59.5 miles with 4298 feet of climbing
Day 2: 65.4 miles with 4719 feet
Day 3: 70.9 miles with 1787 feet
Day 4: 56.1 miles with 1147 feet
Day 5: 57.5 miles with 3202 feet
Day 6: 74.9 miles with 2681 feet
Day 7: 65.6 miles with 2363 feet
I am not even going to bother trying to track what I eat this week.....part of the tradition is eating as much as you ride!
Hope everyone has a great weekend!0 -
