I haven't read all 179+ pages of these posts so maybe this was mentioned already. It's kind of a delicate topic, but let's be real here. Bathroom/toilet/loo hygiene...does this ring a bell with anyone? In fact, the first indicator that I was gaining weight was that I began to have difficulty accessing all of the parts of my body I needed to access! After just ten pounds, however, it's become easier. I'm sure the people in the stalls next to me wondered why they heard giggles of delight coming from me!36

Nobody told me that after reaching my goal to wear size pants size 32׳ that my hip and waist would be to wide for the crutch of the pants, therefore creating discomfort when sitting and walking because the pants are to small on the crutch area. It took few weeks and it seems that my hip and waist have adjusted and now I don't have problems with the pants anymore. So the body does take time to adjust even though I already had lost the weight !

I think it's important to realize that if you do binge eat one day/night/meal, your diet isn't over, everything isn't ruined. Just when your lil' eating episode is done, get back to keeping to your diet. You won't have gained all the weight back in one meal.

Im only on day 14, but going from drinking only pop and little water, I have no longer needed to take advil every day, Eating better, drinking water, and exercising in just 14 days has stopped my headaches and body aches!37

Today I felt so different breathing! Before, my big belly would cause me to feel that breathing was a bit hard and I could feel my belly fat pressing against my stomach and lungs. Now, after losing 30 lbs I don't even feel my organs squeezed or my breathing being hard anymore. I just notice the easiness of it this morning. Wow36

I know this has been mentioned before, but I feel fatter now, at 173 lbs, than I did at 234 lbs. I think it is a combination of loose skin letting the fat wobble more, and me realizing how many lies I had told myself over the years. Despite what I and others said about my body I have admitted that I am NOT big-boned. As I lose weight, the tiny size of my ankles alarms me - how did those tiny little bones hold me up at my heaviest? It scares me to think that I was probably one mis-step or stumble from permanent disability if I broke my leg.
I see the progress, but I have sooooo far to go. And my doctor's goal weight for me (135) is not unrealistic. I nearly *kitten* myself when he told me 135 was what I should aim for. I spent 3 months being mad at him, but he is right.31 -

I completely understand what you mean by feeling fat although you're losing fat weight. The mind is a trip !

That while laying on my back on the mat in a class, I'd miss the fitness instructor explaining what we were to do next, because I was busy feeling my now prominent ribs
Or that I'd have some loose skin near my elbows, making side planks more uncomfortable there, instead of the whole lifting my body off the ground part.

I totally understand. There's days where I'm wondering 'why bother, I look worse now than before'. But that's just my head talking *kitten*. It's just that before I wouldn't acknowledge how bad it was (landwale comes to mind...). I've printed out two pictures of myself (current and starting mess) and pasted them next to my mirror. Since I don't see the change when I look in the mirror, having the reminder helps set that silly voice in my head right.
What shocked me was the size of my wrists. They're tiny! I only have 3 holes to go on my (small) fitbit band before it's too big and I still have 20kg left to go until I hit my goal weigh of 65kg (I thought my doc was joking when she told me to aim for that. Her deadpan "it's actually a good 3-4kg higher than I'd like you to be, but it's closer to realistic for now" kinda rattled me. I really really really hope I don't lose more weight on my arms!

Hihi. I've poked myself until I bruised when I first found my collarbones. Same thing for the hip bones. Then again for the ribs. It's utterly fascinating what bones are hidden inside of our bodies.14 -

This was the biggest step i made just recently. And i can advice anybody to spend time fully and absolutly deeply realising this.
If you really live by this you will always stay on course long term.
I did read somewhere that no matter how much you binged the actual damage you have done weight wise is very limited. You simply cannot gain more than 1 lbs in fat(everything more is water) .. nothing that matters in the long run.
Also beeing able to cut myself some slack and stop beating me up over a bad day was something i had to learn recently.21 -
I've seen quite a few posts here claiming that "eating healthier is more expensive"
I honestly don't see how that is possible, if you show any concern about prices when shopping
- no fast food saves big $
- I'm eating half the food before I was dieting
- Many healthy foods can be bought in bulk
Can anyone explain why healthy eating is deemed much more expensive? I would agree it takes more planning and prep, but not more money. I would need to buy everything single servings at Whole Foods, to spend more money.
I can try.. well at least from my perspective in Germany where i am from.
If you want to cook a balanced meal with Veggies and Some Meat or Fish you can easily spend 3-4 € per Meal especially when you are Single and cant really buy in bulk.
Now compare that to some junk like Pizza where you can get up to 3 under 2 € thats 66 Cents per Meal!
Adding to this in Germany at least you cant even really buy frozen veggies in Bulk.. there are very limited options and they are rather expensive too ( 2€ per Kilo for a mix of Brocolli and Carrotes)
It gets better over time because you learn where you can save money;
- look for Sales (especially with Meat and Fishthis can save you a fortune)
- buy Seasonal veggies
- Potatoes, Lentils, Chickpeas and Beans are your friends (Cheap and really filling)
- Make the Efford to go to a real butcher. There are some really tasty cheap cuts of meat you dont find in Supermarkets
From my own Experience i am sure most people just changing their Eating and grocery shopping habbits also simply have to learn how to shop more cost effecient.
You look at non Seasonal Veggies and think "how the hell am i supposed to afford this"

I've lost 65 pounds have 80 still to loose to be at the upper range of my goal and being told by 2 people I shouldn't loose anymore as its not healthy. I still OBESE not overweight but obese!!23

That sometimes you have to look back at how far you've come to stay the course in where you're going. Oh, and self-sabotage is a sneaking kitten, a bump in the road purposely meant to throw you off, so watch out for her, and step on over her.10

That my dry-elbow problem would go away!! Before, they'd be super dry, cracked and scratchy. But now: just normal, nobbly but moisturized elbows! Maybe because I drink more water...?12

Me three!! Suddenly I was able to wear eye makeup without it smudging. People are suddenly telling me how pretty my eyes are... I don't think you could see them before under my fat eyelids LOL10 -
How irritated you would get with people who 'hunt' for parking spots when you're in the car.
It's like, what difference does it make? There's a parking spot right here just take it. Why do we have to circle the lot for ten minutes because you're sure we can find one much closer. I just want to get out of the car *I whine in my whiniest voice ever.* Even if we park in the very last spot it's at most a 2 minute walk. We'll live.38 -

So when I was in high school I was pretty severely anorexic and I lost 70 lbs in 4 to 5 months. Even though I was underweight I was never happy. I was cold and sad and weak.
Now at 22 I've recovered and had a baby which caused me to gain it all back. I'm eating a balanced diet with enough calories and working out. My weight loss is definitely much slower but I feel so much better about myself than I ever did then. I know the confidence factor has been mentioned quite a few times but for me specifically, being healthy has really been helping my confidence more than just weight loss ever has.
Then, too, I love the feeling of no longer modifying moves in my work outs! Especially when i go from not being able to do something on day to being able to the next.

Right! We moved to the suburbs so my husband stole my Fit for commuting. Now I'm driving this big truck everywhere and for whatever reason Reno has tiny parking spots, so I always head to the big empty area in the back of the lot. It's so funny, because a year ago I got mad at my husband for parking in the back of the slightly uphill lot at Costco. Now I'm like I have to walk all over the store anyways. How does walking to the back of the lot make any difference? The only difference is my attitude.33 -

That I would be trying out how to train for a 7k in an elevation that is 3000 feet higher than where I live, or that I am possibly thinking of doing a half marathon (Even if it is just walking.)19
