I started swimming for exercise last night. Only did a half hour of leisurely but WOW am I sore. 394 calories burned does NOT do it justice!
My Wednesday wish is to become the beautiful mermaid princess I envision myself to be. And I also wish my muscles would stop aching.5 -

Welp, not so great a start (yet). I was so pleased with getting down below 215 on the final Saturday weigh-in of the previous challenge that I threw all caution to the wind on a night out at my favorite restaurant this past Monday night. Then, the following day (yesterday), I had the "bright" idea of trying to cut waay back on my calories to make up for the splurge. Result: cranky, ravenous me...who then overate late that night to compensate. So that's why today's weigh-in finds me right back where I was last Wednesday.
So, that said, here's what I'm going to do RIGHT starting today. 1) I am getting back on track with my logging. If I eat it, it gets logged. 2) No more overeating one day, starving the next. I will be focusing on consistency with this challenge. 3) Setting weekly goals for myself. My goal this week is to get up early and go for my long walk/jogs 3 more times before my next weigh-in (Monday).
Welcome back to our returning challengers! And welcome to all the new folks! I think you'll like it here.2 -
@MermaidPrincessRach : It's awesome that you got in a nice swim! Way to go, and I hope that the muscles start feeling better soon. It's always like that following a new workout, for me as well.
My Wednesday wish? Well, I'd really like there to be a break in the rain today so that I can take the kids out for a walk. It's been basically one continuous torrential downpour here since Saturday, and even though I love rain, it's starting to mess with my exercise plans.2 -

Hey SCALE ... that's not the direction you are supposed to be heading! ... This was a maintenance week for me ... didn't even try to 'cut calories' ... just ate to see what sifted through the numbers I keep. However, eating at will does have me eating an extra snack or two ... enough to add up to a whole 4th meal worth of calories that put me into the gain zone. This weeks goal ... maintenance eating but cut the snacks down or out.0 -

A great way to start it off!! Here's to hoping I can maintain this pace and crush my goal this challenge!!
Also, got back to the gym yesterday morning for a pretty intense full-body workout - Bench press, squats, deadlifts, hip abductors, hip adductors, tricep extensions, shoulder press, bicep curls. Needless to say, I felt a bit like jello rolling out of bed this morning. Maybe a run tonight will help to work things out.
Wednesday wish - that I could share some of the beautiful weather that is coming with all of you that are foreseeing rain. We have an unseasonably warm, sunny stretch coming though - 20 today, 26 tomorrow, 19 on friday, and then back to low teens. I'm looking forward to getting outside and taking advantage of it.2 -
Welcome to all the newcomers. I joined MFP in September and have found this thread very inspiring (although I must admit I read it more often than I post). I lost about 30 pounds from September - November while diligently logging my food on MFP and reading the threads and blogs for ideas and inspiration. Then, I went into hibernation mode over the winter, and while I didn't gain any of the weight back, I also didn't lose any weight. Since resuming on MFP at the end of March I've lost another 7 pounds (still have 85 pounds to go to get into the "healthy" weight zone). I am convinced that logging is the key to losing weight, even if you go over your intended calories on some days.
Here are my stats for the first week of the challenge:

I was pleased that I accomplished my goal in the earth day challenge. So I splurged a couple of times since Saturday. I didn't lose anything. Just glad I didn't gain. I'll have to get back in gear! My wish is that the weight would just drop off instead of having to work so hard at this.2 -

Though the scale did move down, I feel like I am struggling these last few days. Last night, I just wanted to EAT! I don't know why, I didn't feel stressed, I really wasn't hungry - I just wanted to EAT! Maybe it was just the temptation of the junk food that found it's way into my house via my daughter. Entenmann's donuts were BOGO at the grocery store over the weekend and she forgot she had ordered a dozen Krispy Kreme donuts at a Fund Raiser at the school where she works. On top of that dozen, her friend gave her the dozen she ordered because she didn't want them in HER house! That made another 2 dozen donuts that came home on Monday.
So 3+ dozen donuts in the house! Last night, I succumbed to 1 Krispy Kreme which was the least amount of calories of all the options. The night before, it was the lowest calorie option in the box of Entenmann's. A donut every night will DEFINITELY NOT see the scale moving down again next week!
My Wednesday wish? For someone to get these d@mn donuts out of my house!!
Maybe "Peter" will eat them?? (Peter is the name my daughter gave the "ghost" in the house that gets blamed for everything ever since my kids were little.
ME: WHO made this mess??
My kids: I don't know.
ME: So I guess a ghost did it?
Eventually, my daughter named the "ghost" Peter and the answer became "It must have been Peter". Smart aleck.
Until next time; wishing everyone Peace , Love and Weight Loss !!5 -

No change for now. I have been hoverin between 276 and 278 for over 10 days. A little frustrating but I am not overly concerned since it happened when I was around 290. I did eat a little more this weekend but only went over my calories by 200ish (which is still around 400-500 below maintenance). I am hoping it moves before next week's weigh-in though!
@MermaidPrincessRach Congrats on going swimming. I wish I knew someone who had a swimming pool! I hope your muscles heal fast!
@RobinB0812 I love your ghost story, it actually made me chuckle. Hopefully Peter will eat those doughnuts before you are too tempted!
As for my Wednesday wish I will have to join @RunningOnWontons and wish for some sun. The neighbour's tree is blooming and I want to take some nice photos of it before thunderstorms ruin it! A sunny sky would make a much lovelier background than those grey clouds!

Wednesday - Wishes (what do you wish? It can be weight related or not, can be realistic or not)
There's a lot on my mind today ... and as I don't really have anyone to talk to recently, you folks will have to stand in. So ... you can just skip by this post and move along.
My ex-husband is 78 years old today. I sent him a greeting via the messages on FB ... when I sent it, I noticed that he didn't pick the last message I sent him, when he turned 75. Anyway, I still wished him a happy birthday and hoped the years have been gentle with him. He was the baby in the family, and still has several siblings kicking up their heels, having a good ole time. While our relationship got side-winded we had a good time of it for the 16 years we were together and produced one fine offspring. I never wanted to 'tie any knots' again afterwards but now in my own old age I sometimes wish I'd accepted one or another of the proposals I had gotten when I was still young and fab.
I changed my goals in MFP today. It's something I do every couple of months or so. Now that our last challenge has ended and I've been able to work up my statistics, and had time to reread some useful topics on setting goal calories and macros (good stuff right here on MFP) ... I changed my macros to 40/40/20 from the default of 50/30/20. I also dropped the total calorie goal down to 1470 so I can have a strong deficit target for the next 9 weeks. My aim is to see me reach that goal that skipped right by me on our last challenge.
This reflecting and messaging was all done instead of heading outdoors to attempt starting my lawn mower again. I couldn't get it started on Monday and it rained yesterday ... and that grass is getting too tall. However, the lawn service company is/was scheduled to come here today and I didn't want to cut the grass right before they sprayed it. But, so far they have not shown up. And we are expecting rain again for the next several days. Well ... that will all give me time to go shopping for a new lawn mower, I'm pretty certain I will not be able to get my 13-year old mower running well ... and if I do, it will be used for the weedy parts of the yard edges instead of the lawn.
With that thought, I spent a lot of time last evening searching the ads online for a new lawnmower. The one I have now is self propelled, (that doesn't propell itself as it once did, like myself). I came away thinking that I'm not getting another self-propelled ones ... I tried out one of the variable speed models last year and think I don't like the way you cannot lean into the handles like I can with my present one. A new self-propelled is probably going to go much faster than I am able to step along any longer. So ... I think I'll get a regular old model that I have to push to make move. It might be harder to move through the grass, but at least I'll be able to lean into it with my strong upper body and let my legs catch up as I go. ... now to settle on the brand.
OK ... I'd done talking at ya. If you hung in there with me, thanks for listening. If you moved along, that's fine, there's not much to see here anyway.
Oh yes, ... those Wednesday Wishes for today ... it was for that old man to have a good day today.
