Back in West Texas, where the coffee tastes like it ought to, and the bed is just to my taste. Unfortunately, dragged back with me a sinus infection steadily moving toward a bronchial infection. Going to try to get an appointment or walk-in with a local clinic this morning, get a round of antibiotics to try. Hopefully not too expensive, but don't know if VA will pay for it outside their care or not. Blah. Don't care. Need to get it taken care of--I have a new job to begin on Monday morning!
Heather, bless your heart. Tough day.

Morning Ladies~
dropping my car off at the dealership, some noise in brakes or struts, but they are giving me a loaner for the day..I have the day to myself. and want to sit and really think out money situation.. I have money in my account and wondering if I should pay off my loan, so I will have no debt..and then try and invest for my retirement.. it is a long way away ,but Tom has been doing the finances for so long and investing , I know I will get part of that, but I have no 401k and a 1200.00 IRA ..I do not want to end up like my dad living on social security... I am still toying with the idea of joining the gym again.. yes it did help the 2 times I joined.. but should I spend the money more wisely and just walk...but I guess it is an investment in my health and future.. it is right across from the dealership so I might go see what there special is.4 -
Mary you look fantastic!
Macha9 WOW!
I am starting a 6 week assignment today in Kindergarten. I taught Kindergarten full time a number of years ago. They do keep you on your toes. Since being a grandmother is not looking likely soon. This is my way of getting to enjoy the little ones.

So Happy It's Thursday!!
First, wanted to say how appreciative I am of all the "before, during, after" photos posted here. Sometimes when we fall off the wagon a bit we need a good reminder how far we have come and how it's been worth it. Your before and after photos are very inspirational to me and a kick in the pants for me to get going again. The reality is also that exercise makes a huge difference!! Walking, biking, weights, kettlebells - we gotta keep it moving!
Mary, what are you doing in a group for gals in their 50's+? Way to go! Again, a wonderful testament to your routine of daily exercise and your Keto eating plan.
Machka - how neat you had photos showing your success along the way. And I love your braid! To have thick hair again!
Toni, ((hugs))). Glad your son is there for you.
Sarah, I like your happiness checklist and copied it. The only tweak I'd make on it would be 10,000 steps instead of the 1 hour of exercise - hard for me to get an entire hour block in but a few 20 minute segments of walking or heavy duty gardening would fit the bill I'd think. I was very surprised last week I got in my morning walk - about 3,000 steps then was back and forth in the garden, hoeing, weeding and such - by the end of the day had well over 10,000 steps plus had used all the different muscles lugging bags of dirt, etc.
Katla, glad you were able to attend the planning meeting for the riverfront. You had great points: Keeping it simple and sturdy.
Sharon, WOW on the snow - I think we are finally past that here. I am ready to break out the shorts - some of our UPS and Postal carriers wear shorts all times of the year it seems even when it's snowing and bitter cold in the winter. I told DH I'm ready to cut my hair short again...but like it mid length now except even with clips it seems it's always in my face and eyes. My hair is also thinning (the coloring did seem to help thicken it up when I was doing that.) I saw the video on Cannabis oil and Parkinson's and I'd sure give it a try.
Heather - take it easy!
OK, time to cut this off. Back to work this morning for a bit. Yesterday I cut it short-after a couple hours of filing I had such back pain - my upper back! Came home, grabbed a bite of lunch and snoozed in the recliner for a couple hours....haven't done that in a long, long time. And slept fine when I went to bed last night. Allergy symptoms are getting better but I think it's trying to become a cold now.
I think I'm finally ready to get back on the wagon... no cravings last night. Anyhow, this one is going around on FB right now...yes I DID have some twinkies last week. How did they know? (I think something is fishy here with attaching this link but it seems to be showing as an inserted jpg?)
Have a good day!

Ladies, send out your strength and prayers today, I'm getting something checked out at the doctor's today cause I can't keep ignoring it. Won't say just yet. But you are such a positive strong group of women, send out your support into the air and I will surround myself with it!!!!!

Great pics you gorgeous gals, Machka and Mary.
Lanette - wish I could wear shorts, but my knees are hideous, especially the left one. My ankles are pretty awful too. But if you've got it, flaunt it. I've been looking at some casual summer maxi dresses in catalogues. Hmmmmmmmm.
Got home and wasn't hungry after my hotel breakfast. I only ate it because I'd paid for it. I ordered stuff from the cook, so they'd have to work for my money. It is unheard of for me not to be hungry :noway: , so DH said I must be sick!
I did an hour on the bike to try to undo some of yesterday's calories, so today I've done 235. Better than nothing , but nowhere near my normal. But I'm pleased I did something. I wore a scarf as a sling while I was on the bike as anywhere I put my arm was uncomfortable. I've got my lymphodema sleeve on as well. DH was gardening in the front as we've got a viewing on Saturday.
NY KAREN - Sending you lots of support
Toni - Thinking of you. :flowerforyou:
Alison - Hope you are scurrying off to that lawyer asap. I would be changing the locks and getting an injunction for Coercive Control.
Think it's time for a little nap.

Hi all this will be a quick check in. I had "a moment" last night. I was home alone and lonely and frustrated and ended up ordering a pizza instead of cooking dinner. After 3 slices and 2 drinks my tummy was not happy, although it was delicious at the time! I have noticed a big uptick in stress eating lately. Gotta fix that!
Sending prayers and hugs to all who need them and high fives for achievements! Thanks for your encouraging words!
Take care, Meg from chilly (again!) Omaha9 -

It sure would be cool if this app would allow you to reply to each comment like Facebook does. It's hard to follow everyone and reply.

Toni in TN: I'm so happy for you for having such a great son.
Mary from MN: WOW!!!
Leigh: You've lost a lot of weight already. Congratulations! Keep up the good work.
Sharon: in Lethbridge: Good luck with the sleep issue. I had to work on mine and kept charts for a while. Eventually I got through the tough part and developed better sleeping habits. One of my problems was DH wanting to be "frisky" in the middle of the night. We eventually worked out our timing so that play didn't interrupt sleep.
Heather: (((HUGS))) Good luck with your home viewing. I hope you feel better soon. :flowerforyou:
Machka: Wow! Your progress photos are amazing. WTG!!!
Sarah, Ontario CAN: I like your happiness checklist. What a great idea!!!
Lanette: As a young kid I liked twinkies best but then I grew up a bit and fell in love with chocolate cupcakes. I haven't had either in a very long time. :noway: I do get chocolate on a regular basis. I buy Endangered Species chocolate in individually wrapped 50 calories squares. I get this from Amazon because the store where I originally found it stopped carrying the individually wrapped pieces. If I open a candy bar, I eat the candy bar. :ohwell: If I open a 50 calories piece I'm in heaven, satisfied, and not tempted to pig out.
NYKaren: Sending support. (((HUGS)))
Meg: You've got me thinking about stress and wondering how to combat it effectively. Yoga helps me on that front, and so does simple walking. I wonder about dog walking as a good idea for you. You must be missing Benny Beagle like crazy. I had a friend who walked dogs for the Humane Society. Eventually she fell in love with one of them and they're currently living happily ever after. I hope you'll find something to do for yourself at this tough time. Alcoholism is not likely to be helpful but it could sure be tempting with stress levels high. Walking or petting animals is a sure-fire stress reducer for me. (((HUGS)))
Today I have plans to visit the stable and ride Arrow. I am so lucky to be able to get this wonderful opportunity. It is great for me, good for Arrow, and good for his owner, too.

This was sent to me by Lenora and I think it is very beautiful. I do not know who the author was.
At birth we boarded the train and met our parents,
and we believe they will always travel on our side.
However, at some station
our parents will step down from the train,
leaving us on this journey alone.
As time goes by,
other people will board the train;
and they will be significant
i.e. our siblings, friends, children,
and even the love of your life.
Many will step down
and leave a permanent vacuum.
Others will go so unnoticed
that we don't realize
they vacated their seats.
This train ride will be full of joy,
sorrow, fantasy, expectations,
hellos, goodbyes, and farewells.
Success consists of having a good relationship
with all passengers
requiring that we give the best of ourselves.
The mystery to everyone is:
We do not know at which station
we ourselves will step down.
So, we must live in the best way,
love, forgive, and offer the best of who we are.
It is important to do
this because when the time comes for us to step down
and leave our seat empty
we should leave behind beautiful memories
for those who will continue to travel on the train of life.
I wish you a joyful journey on the train of life.
Reap success and give lots of love.
More importantly, thank God for the journey.
Lastly, I thank you
for being one of the passengers on my train.

Heather Sure hope you heal soon. Sounds as if you will be stiff and sore for a few days. Sending healing thoughts.
Meg Pizza and drinks was a small transgression considering the stress you are under. (((Hugs)))
Mary and Machka Both of you look great. Fit and Fab!
NYKaren Thinking of you today. Hope everything turns out OK.
Having a day off after 5 hard days at work, but it doesn't seem like much of a day off because we have someone coming over to clean the house this afternoon, and 2 more people are here now helping us clean out & organize our garage. I was not in charge of the scheduling. I either need to leave or get involved in the process. Guess I'll get involved. Maybe it will go faster and they will all leave sooner. Ugh!

Good morning! I am back on MFP, I am in need of getting that healthy feeling back. I have yo-yo'd my entire life, (well, since age 12, that would be 45 years) and now I am really feeling it. Had blood work done and it showed nothing, despite my overall exhaustion and aches and pains. Perhaps it is from my excessive weight, me thinks? Yes, I have autoimmune thyroid disease, but I have for years and have not felt this way since I was severely anemic (and I am not). HERE WE GO! Glad to be back, actually. I know there will be moments and days of less enthusiasm. But I shall persist!
High fives to all who are doing well, you are inspiring!
Prayers to NYKAREN and all who need them.
Thanks for all of you being here and mutual support rocks!!!
