Speaking of Teacher Appreciation Day/Week, when my kids were in elementary school and I was on the PTA, we would organize a lunch for the teachers each day. We would bring in the warmers/crock pots etc into the teachers lounge, decorate with flowers, tablecloths, pretty place settings. I think they appreciated having healthy foods at lunch that they didn't have to prepare themselves. There was always a "room mother" who would organize the parents of each student to do something special for their teacher (whether it was a $$contribution for a class gift or a simple letter of thanks). It is so hard to continue with a job, even one you love, if you feel your efforts are not recognized or appreciated. Love all of you "teacher" ladies!8

So I have been researching fiber items, for my son. Gradual changes, working up to a normal consumption of 25-30 grams a day. Tomorrow I plan on buying Wheat Chex cereal, because he likes that. It has 7 grams of fiber. A couple of times a week I will see that he takes a pb&j sandwich on wheat bread. That is 5 grams of fiber. I am going to buy some peanuts and almonds (1 cup each) and some M & M's. It will make enough for 3 servings giving him 10 grams of fiber. Then a couple of salads a week, plus a couple of bananas, he should be more happy.
Sadly he thought he was really I'll and needed to get to a doctor. The fact that he could go s couple of times a day, meant that he wasn't constipated. The fact that he saw blood is concerning, but hr wasn't giving his body time to relax. He has an appointment with my primary doctor, because his last appointment was when he was 16, and he has outgrown his pediatric doctor! As a new patient, the earliest I could get him to be seen is this Friday. If we pay attention to what he is eating, then it might just be a new patient well appointment.

I think Pip is bottom row, 1st one.
Bedroom windows in now!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It does look different to have a uniform look. I will post a picture later. Charlie was asking what we do now. I think he really wants to get into the landscaping but I am afraid of the sticker shock. I don't know if he thinks it will only cost about $1000 or not. But we need boat loads of new soil in the back yard and some in the front yard. After seeing some of your flowers here, it has made me wonder if I could just put some simple flowers in. I don't know what kind of difference it would make but it's pretty bare and as the season has gone on my azalea has really looked bad. In fact it looks quite pitiful.
My poor kitty cat. I knew she would hide when the installer was making big noises right next door in the office. So I was able to get her out from under the bed and was going to put her in Charlie's room and close the door. But as soon as I put her down in his room, she ran out and got underneath my bed again. This time at the very head of the bed where I couldn't reach her. What she didn't realize was that he was going to be in that room next. So the poor baby had to stay under there while he was using his power tools to get the window out and put the new one in. She is out now that he is gone and has enjoyed some lap time.
While my bed was all ajar, I took my quilt off and washed it. Will be nice to have it nice and clean.

Hi Gals,
So fun to read how everyone is doing, a new beginning for all who slipped in April and a hip hip hooray for all who made some or all of their goals.
Tomorrow is Rori time for me… we are having dinner together in San Francisco – I’ve tried on everything in my closet to find just the right outfit! LOL you can tell I don’t have an excuse to get out of my gardening clothes very often!
I thought a lot about how to get more balance in my life today – it helped to tell you I would be doing it.. and the gardening job at Camp is about 10-15 hours a week, broken up over 3 days which during the school year is how it needs to be, but in the summer, I can just get it done – whenever! So I am thinking that from mid June until September I can just work 2 days a week, go in early (avoid the heat) and leave by noon – so 7-12? And that would give me one free from gardening day each week, that would give my body a break, and save on car expenses (its a 30 min drive each way)… more thoughts to come..

Quick Hi Ladies!
No time to catch up since I got back but I thought I'd share a couple of pictures from the Daffodil weekend in Nantucket.
My 5 good Friends and I'm the second to the left in the pink sweatshirt. Couldn't find a green sweatshirt in time.

Hello, I'm new to MyFitnessPal! Happy to be here and be inspired to continue towards my goals. Have a great day!5

stayed the same weight for the whole month. Had hoped to loose something, so cracking down and going to work harder at this. I want to loose a minimum of 50 lbs before year end.
I have stolen your May goals NYKaren because they so reflect what I want to do. Thank you.
1. No junk food, salty, crunchy or sweet
2. No processed food, including pasta
3. Log honestly and move every day
4. Stay within the calories and don't eat the exercise calories
4. stay positive and stay focused on what matters
I am driving to Winnipeg tomorrow (approx. 8 hours) and will take healthy fruit and vegetables to munch on during the trip. There are no decent restaurants along the way that serve food that is healthy - lots of deep fried, fried and unhealthy junk food will not be in my plan for tomorrow.
Have a great day ladies. Hugs to everyone.

Happy May everyone! I had a nice weekend but still find I am struggling. DD#2 is struggling too. she finally went to the dr. who gave her an anti-depressant and insisted she go to counseling. Now she has finally agreed to go. I guess mother's advice isn't good enough lol. We had a bit over 4" of rain from yesterday through today. I have made no new goals for the month, but need to really get back to it. I washed my new fitbit so this one is not working either. DAMN it why do I keep doing that? DH is going to let me have his for now. OK have a nice evening. Meg from soggy Omaha3

Good evening friends
Pip- I knew that was you!
Dana - love the roses and more than that I love that you bought them for yourself!
Enjoying Antiques Road Show now. Had a good study group session earlier. We are studying the geology of the National Parks. Today was about Yosemite, the red woods, and Pinnacle National park in California.
My medicare supplement does not pay for a gym membership. It is a fabulous plan, though, so I don't mind. I pay so little for my health care. By working at the Y I get $63 off our membership dues so hubby and I pay just $14/ month for membership in the 15 different Ys in middle Tennessee.
Speaking of the gym, I plan to go to a water class tomorrow. I haven't done this one in several months. Looking forward to it. Then in the afternoon I am going to a counselor (I saw her some last spring) to help me sort through some of my feelings about our "situation". I really appreciate the fact that I have so many friends here to support me.

KYKAREN – My BF and I used to climb up in the cherry tree on the corner on the Church grounds and eat them until we almost we sick. Then, we decided to make a cherry pie for our boyfriends (they were 1st cousins). Beautiful pie! Crust was just right … BUT, we did not ‘pit’ the cherries! LOL!!!!! We were in the 6th and 7th grade. We also decided to make some peanut brittle; but, the more we stirred it, the stickier it got. So we poured it out in the middle of the side street and watched cars ride over (what looked like a big pile of vomit) and it really was like taffy in a pulling machine. We threw the pot and spoon away. Of course, it was a pot and spoon that my Mother used ‘daily’. Did we know where it went? ER, NO M’HAM!
There are a lot of cherry trees in Macon, GA and they have a Cherry Blossom Festival every Spring. Today Louis and I were going to Macon and I don’t think Georgia is going to have many peaches this year. They have just begun to leaf out; and, usually by this time, they are fully bushed out, and about to bloom and form peaches. I love my peaches! Glad I put up some this past year. When we lived in Macon; my Daddy would bring a bushel of them by my house.
KJ – Our DYS and his family were in Branson, MO just a couple of weeks ago. What a difference a week makes. I emailed them to see if the MS River will be affected down where they live (across from Natchez, MS – which is a lot higher than on the LA side.
I think I might be afraid to serve it to daycare kids … they might think a real litterbox was a cake. That probably would not go over well with their Mama’s. Oh, for the last baby shower I went to, they had melted different chocolate candy bars and put the stuff inside a Pamper’s and passed them around and you were supposed to ‘guess’ what kind of candy bar it was. I lost my taste for chocolate candy for several months. No, I would not ‘think’ it would be very appetizing to cut into a Red Velvet cake shaped like a baby. When I win a prize at a bridal or baby shower I will present it to the bride or mother-to-be. It is usually something they can use for a different purpose. I won a make-up bag; which would be just the right size to put about 5 or 6 Pampers in. I usually tell them ‘what I think I’d use it for’ when I do.
Lanette – I’ll get around to posting some, hopefully soon. Right at the moment I have lost an ‘elephant’s heart’ … I am aiming for his penis. Took the Weight Chart comparison chart with me last time I went in for weigh-in. Estee thought it as hysterical.
Heather – Having grown up as the daughter of an attorney; and, working in the legal field most of my adult life … I don’t understand people who have the attitude of “I want what I want, when I want it; and, I don’t care who I hurt to get it.” Some people just think they have to gripe about something to get a ‘good’ deal (or not have to pay for it). Our ‘estranged’ daughter was married to a man who was about my age (or older) and he would always … ALWAYS gripe about how things were done, use intimidate and threats to get away without having to pay to get things done. That’s just wrong! Louis had a client who would build Southern Living Homes and live in them for a year, build another one and sell the first one. He was the same way. He would have 2 door jams in a corner; and, he’d take a dental mirror to make sure the trim was painted and that neither the wall paint nor the trim paint were on the other. How many people are going to look in that 1 or 2 inch space. I asked Louis why he did not paint that area before they put up the trim and paint the trim before it was put up. Timing! The carpenters are in and out BEFORE the painter comes in. Then the flooring guys. This guy would pick job to death. Then he got into trouble with one 2-story house that had chimneys at both ends of the house; that leaned in. He did not want to have to tear them down and build them again. I think the owner sued him because he did not build houses for a while. He also would sub-let jobs and not pay them, most of the carpenters, painters, and electricians made sure they got enough up front to pay them for the job. He called one night after we had move out here and I recognized his voice. I told him that Louis was in the shower and could I give him a message? He said he wanted a quote. Louis did not call him back; so he called Louis and before he answered the phone I told him that if he did not quote him some really outrageous amount to paint for him again, I did NOT want to listen to him. So the man wanted ‘just’ a quote on the outside, just trim, brick house. I think he wanted Louis to quote a price because Louis’ quote sometimes was lower. So he told him, ‘well sight unseen, $30,000 for the trim and soffit. I could hear the man cursing and I was standing in the den. He asked Louis if he was serious … YEAH, serious as a heart attack. Never heard from him again. I don’t think he is in town any longer. He was someone that I would say was a *^$#^&*(_(%$709 person.
Heather – Work is WORK is you don’t like what you are doing. IF you are lucky enough to enjoy and love what you do for your job, you will NEVER work a day in your life. I have always enjoyed the jobs I have had; but, I am very happy NOT working. It would be far to ‘stressful’ for me to attempt to work after being ‘retired on a disability’ … I know what my ‘limits’ are. My last boss made ‘working’ a lot of fun. Easy going, laid back, and we laughed all the time. We’d prank one another.
Kate UK – You also probably got a good deal if you bought it ‘off season’ on it as well. It is very nice.
Katla – We’re staying with DirecTV; we’ve been with them since before we moved out here 16+ years ago; but, they have jacked up our monthly rate until now it is ‘double’. But, we got a Netflix account. Just got the first DVD to watch. Will do that later this week.
Since we could not use our remote for about an hour, when we did get it fixed the picture seems a lot clearer than before. I hope it stays this clear.

Instead of April Fools. We had May Fools with snow falling today. Fortunately none of it stuck.
Love all the flower pictures.
Goal for May is to get to pool as often as i can to do knee exercises.
One of my colleagues came in on crutches today because of her knee. She is in worse shape than me.

Happy May Day! Love the pictures of flowers. We went to see our baby goats last Saturday. They are a week old today. We have been thinking about getting goats since we bought this place and have finally cleared a space with a shed for them. They are Kinder goats, two boys. They have to remain with their mom until they are weaned in about three months.Right now they are about the size of our cat only a little taller. One of them is black with gray ears and the other is black with brown markings. No names yet.
Lanette - I do not take a multi vitamin as I cannot take vitamin D because of sarcoidosis. I do take B-complex because it helps when I am taking prednisone. Also calcium and magnesium recommended by bariatric doc. I take eye vitamins recommended by ophthalmologist.
Sarah - You are so close I'm sure you will make it in May.
Barbie - Thanks for keeping us going.
Goals for May: 25-30 grams of fiber per day
Continue 8 glasses of water per day
1 hour of intentional exercise per day.
Everyone take care, Sue in WA

machka - I remember when I first started taking a spinning class. Boy, did my butt hurt!!! I got one of those padded seats. Now I don't need the padded seat.
dcdickerson - welcome
Took the cat litter cake to the gal tonight. Everyone thought it was really cute.
RuthsFitness - welcome
Paula - whenever we go somewhere, I always take my own food with me. Vince can eat the fast food, but I actually wind up having more to eat. Drive safely
I got the DVD's that I ordered. I completely forgot that I could have used my 10% off coupon.
Dana - beautiful roses
There is this one guy who does a lot of landscaping in the neighborhood. We've asked him to move some dirt and then seed, fertilize, and put straw down in the backyard. He said he would, but that was over a month ago. I realize that we aren't regular customers of his, but he knows that we have other things that we'd like done so the potential for future business is there. I'd really like it done before it gets too hot.

Becca: I hope your son has a good recovery even before the doctor appointment. (((hugs)))
Kim: Have a great time with Rori in San Francisco. What a great opportunity!
RuthsFitnesss: Welcome!
Paula: Love your goals-especially the second #4. Staying positive and focusing on what matters is the key to sticking to this and leads to success.
Meg: Post a notice on your washing machine to "Beware of Fitbits."
Toni: We love Antiques Road Show, too, and just watched it moments ago.
Planning this week was not very well thought out by either of us. I had to take DH to the eye doctor this morning, and I go to the eye doctor Wednesday morning. That means I'm missing 2 yoga classes this week to go to the same eye doctor. Darn it. :grumble:

^this^ me too, except I haven't been working out every day, or logging.
The back is still painful after my snowmobile-lifting mishap, so I've been obliged to take it easy with the jogging. One consequence (on top of all the stress I went through in Jan-Feb-Mar) is that I'm 10 kgs above my lowest after-50 weight. Grrrrrr!
On the second week of a two-week teaching stint. Soon I'll be my own mistress again. Maybe I should get myself a whip.
Must run... er... um... that was what I couldn't do. Must walk with care.

Welcome to everyone new! Warm hugs to all who need them.
It is a dreary, rainy day here. While we need the rain, I am afraid it will finish my lilacs and peonies, which are still in full bloom. I love this time of the year when the trees begin showing their spring green foliage. Here in France on May 1st, everyone offers lilies of the valley to their loved ones and friends. They are meant to be a token of affection and to bring both luck and prosperity for the year to come. My DH did not have to go far yesterday to pick the ones he gave to me. From a single wild one that appeared suddenly one year, I now have a large bed of them.
As I posted in another MFP group to which I belong, I realized this morning that I am starting to look like my sons in their baggy jeans phase - jeans not quite falling off yet, but definitely riding low on my hips. I am, however, careful to wear long tops, because the only cheeks I care to show the world are definitely on my face! I am quite fond of some of these jeans, so am determined to wear them until they literally start falling off!
Wishing you all a lovely day!
