Claudia SIFF sounds amazing. We have TIFF in Toronto but that is 4 hours away. We have a very small one in the town I live, only one weekend lol! I love the quality and diversity of films at these festivals. Have a great time!
Welcome Elisha, Renee
Margaret Wonderful news
Jane I applaud your motivation
Katie Congrats on a very significant NSV
So my pumps kept up through the night and still dry, it is raining lightly now and hope it stops soon. I think a move might be in our future too.Sarah

Rori and Kim That photo warms my heart. So glad you could catch up with each other! Rori that is amazing you have met 13 of this group! I have met 1 (Cheri) and am so glad I did. She is so great...
Concerning all the talk about FOBT, FIT, and colonoscopy, I will throw my 2 cents worth in. I have chosen colonoscopy every 10 years because colonoscopy is superior to either FOBT or FIT at detecting adenomas (precancerous lesions).
Rainy day in Virginia - the plants are loving it - sending hugs to those dealing with flooding, though, wish I could bring you a dry warm towel for your shoulders and a hot cup of tea...

Rori I too am looking forward to your visit.

Morning and afternoon all,
Nyquil nights and Dayquil days are starting to wear, but at least with Nyquil on board, I can sleep. Been more than a week since I got more than three or four hours sleep, but a dose at 9 p.m. then again at 1 a.m. let me get in quite a few hours of shut-eye last night. When I sleep, I can start to get better. My husband's going on three weeks with this cold, so there are a few more days of it in my future, as I picked it up a week after he did.
Rori and Kim--What a great picture! Heard from my boss that Rori often pops in for training for new grant developers like me, so hope to see her again when she can fit us into her travel schedule. I have a feeling they just want to see Rori!
Did I mention that it's a four-day workweek in the new job? I actually didn't catch that part until I went through my new-employee orientation. Of course, if there's an event or meeting that's scheduled over a Friday or Saturday, I'll be there, but no office hours on Fridays. Heavenly! Trying to get my arms around all the grants that I'm responsible for right now, and making good progress. Attending, but not speaking (I think) at my first presentation next week Tuesday, plus meeting bunch of other donors in Midland/Odessa area with my new CEO, so that will be fun and instructional. Plus, riding from meeting to meeting with my CEO will let me get to know her better and figure out her priority set.
Probably headed into town today with my hubby's truck to see about a trade-in on a small SUV or a car, as my 23 counties are going to require a lot more travel for me. There's a Ford Escape hybrid at one of the dealers that we're going to go check out. Plus I need to get a business suit or two--my new boss has already seen my two pieces of professional clothing, so will stop in at Ross/TJMaxx/Burlington Coat Factory to see what I can come up with--plus a drop-in at Goodwill, most likely. Haven't gone shopping for business clothes in a decade or so--it was strictly boots and jeans as editor of the paper, and worked solely online before that.
And our son comes home tomorrow! Haven't seen him for nearly 16 months, and he's been through a divorce and the mental health issues I spoke of last month since then. Can't wait to see him at baggage claim Saturday--been WAY too long since I hugged him.
Weight's staying steady, as my appetite is not good with all the meds and congestion. Hope to be able to breathe well enough to start working out again next week.
Love y'all!

Happy Cinco de Mayo!
Gloria – We got the rain and the thunder/lightning big time yesterday afternoon & evening – reminded me of the Midwest – but not the winds. Sounds like you guys got pounded – hope your power is back on.
Pip - wow, sounds like your ride home was a doozy! Glad you made it OK, I bet traffic was a bugger.
Rori and Kim – lovely photo and sounds like you had a great time! Meeting 13 of you lucky gals...that's got to be a MFP record.
Becca - you are the whirling dervish of cleaning. I could use you here for a few days but let me order a dumpster first.
Claudia – that SIFF sounds like great fun. I looked up the location – lots of good eating spots there on Queen Anne, lol. I remember when Le Tastevin was the place to go..maybe 30 years ago.... close to that location. I worked at Pier 89 and Fisherman’s Terminal for many years. The Italy trip sounds great. One of my BFF’s went there several years ago on a Rick Steves tour and loved every minute.
Heather – neat story about you meeting your DH via the internet introduction. You two are perfect for each other!
Welcome newbies! Jump on in! Dana is right – pull up a chair and get to know a few folks and it will soon feel like home.
Before I forget…. Saturday is “World Naked Gardening Day” for those of you who are interested. I won't be participating since high is 57 here tomorrow:
Time to drag out the rain jacket and see what the neighborhood looks like as soon as the sun comes up.
Have a great day!

Heather and Claudia thank you for the inside scoop on food in Italy! I won't have the option to cook my own food or have a mini fridge [bummer!] so I'm stuck with restaurant fare. We will be walking a lot, but I'm also going to plan ahead that I might gain a few pounds during that trip even while trying to eat moderately- just need to make sure my mother of the bride dress will fit for the wedding that happens almost as soon as I get back
Paula Agreed dogs are great therapy!
Karen I love your white egret avatar
Mary I applaud your energy and determination
Regarding the talk on the colonoscopy, I had mine last year and they found and removed 2 polyps. My opinion is that is one of the benefits of going the colonoscopy route. But agreed - the prep for it is pretty awful! Lucky for me my insurance covered it because I have to have another one 3 years from the last one.
I got in 45 min on the stationary bike this morning - now off to a very inactive desk job. I finally am recovering from a bad cold and the work will be piled up I'm sure. And the scale says down 9.2 pounds YAY!

Heather’s relationship with her difficult friend reminds me of a friend of mine. I do love her in many ways but she drives me batty. She is so self-centered and everything and everyone in her life is just “the best”, “the greatest”, “the most wonderful” that sometimes I can’t take it. She makes lots of money and can’t get through a conversation without letting it be known. Her children, grandchildren and others just have “the most wonderful jobs” in the world. They all live in the most spectacular homes and drive the greatest cars. Sometimes it just gets exhausting. She doesn’t look down on those with less but can’t help but brag. I do consider ending our friendship but can’t bring myself to do it.

DJ,
Your friend must be my friend too. Lol. My friend could brag for the US if it was an Olympic sport. And lest I forget any of the accomplishments of her kids, she repeats their major feats often. I doubt she could tell you much about me, but I could speak volumes about her... Yet, she is kind and would give me her last dollar if I needed it. I guess like most things, friendship is complicated.
Have a good day,

Rori & Kim: You are lucky to have met Kim in person & she is lucky to have met you. I agree with Janet from OKC. I am very lucky to have met you. The first time I met you was at the Denver Airport and you were a Guardian Angel full of help that I desperately needed.
Gloria: I hope you get power and heat soon. Looking for an apartment that is on higher ground might be an excellent idea. Do you know whether the apartment management folks have any plans to improve this situation? Good luck to you. :flowerforyou:
Heather: I worry about my adult children, too. Dogs are Guardian Angels sent to people who need them. My son is in a career that requires lots of travel. DDIL's dog is a constant companion and friend when he is away from home. He is her Guardian Angel, protecting her from loneliness and isolation. Shyness or choosing isolation from other people is a different challenge. Dogs don't make it worse and do ease loneliness.
machka: I just had an eye exam and ordered new glasses. They are no longer covered by insurance, and I will be shelling out about a thousand dollars. Gulp. :noway: I hope your situation is less costly. :flowerforyou:
We're off to the eye doctor for DH again this morning. this guy does laser surgery to get rid of extra blood vessels.

Oh wow. That's is awful. Do you have renters insurance? Is your landlord good when problems like this happen? Moving is a pita but worth it if you don't have to go through a flooded living room. Take care.

Hi Dana,
Arkansas certainly has had more than it's fair share of rain. Prayers for those affected by the storms. I'm in an area that has been in severe drought for year now. But, I think yesterdays storms and surely brought us out of drought status.
Lol about nude gardening. I'm won't participating either. Too many sharp implements and I don't want to tempt the mosquitos...
Have a good day,

Katla - OUCH on the cost of new glasses! Were they anything special? I was able to get a COBRA for vision care so DH and I will get our exams and another pair of glasses this year. Our vision hasn't changed much in the past few years- hopefully it won't for a while and these exams (plus frames and lenses) will do it for the foreseeable future.

Hi all! We're back from our trip to Winchester to celebrate our 14th meeting anniversary.
Actually it's tomorrow, but the trains are all up the creek tomorrow, so we did it today.
We enjoyed our meal in the French restaurant, sitting in the corner by the window. Best seats in the house. They brought us a complementary glass of Prosecco each as I had mentioned while booking that it was our anniversary. Well, it's always worth a try.Without telling me DH had also ordered us a glass of champagne each
so my resolution to only have one drink went out of the window!!! Only a raised eyebrow sticker for me today. They were small glasses.
I had mussels and steak tartar, two of my favourite things. Accompanied by arugula and parmesan salad.. DH had crab cocktail and suckling pig. Then we ordered a lemon tart for DH , which wasn't brilliant, and I had a small spoonful of the lemon custard. No bread or carbs apart from the tart. So not too bad.
Then we went off to buy my present from DH.I had done some research online so knew where to head for. An expensive shop. I had a 15% off voucher on my phone. I bought a pair of white linen beach pants for the cruise. And couldn't resist a gorgeous white Boho, tasselled, cheesecloth top. (Not to wear together - I think all white I would look as if I belonged to some hippy cult
) So I am paying for one and DH for the other. He carried the beautiful bag it comes in, with riibbons, home on the train. It was vanity sizing, so a size 10 UK - 6 US. :noway: Never in my life have I been that size.
The sun is out now.Lovely!
DH is in the middle of negotiations to buy a new car. He is trying to knock the price down and waiting for them to ring him back with a yet lower offer. Currently we have a three year old diesel, but the government is fast closing in on diesel emissions and we fear the trade in price is about to plummet dramatically. So we are getting out while the going is good. Otherwise it could be worthless before long. He is very good at negotiating these things and sits it out until they get back to him. He has had a text to say they are very close to what he wants.
I am pleased he is doing something as it has been worrying me for a while with all the adverse publicity.

Hi ladies. This is just a quick hello; today is graduation here and we have lots of activities to attend. So I will write more tomorrow. I do need to know what kind of dog Dolly is though! Best to all of you! Meg in Omaha4
