Yeah I was arditarose I needed a new account and no friends for a little while. I bulked and struggled cutting weight and was in a really bad place. So now I'm at my bulking weight. Still never officially lost I suck at deficits now.
I knew it was you, but didn't want to 'out' you

What meet did you do? I recently did an in-house friendly meet, and am thinking of registering for an Elite meet that's in August in Toronto, but I'm terrified of doing a "real" meet!quiksylver296 wrote: »middlehaitch wrote: »Ooh @quiksylver296 you could do 3 of me and my cat!
Just out of curiosity what are your other lifts like?
Cheers, h.
The most I've ever benched is 160 lbs, but I only got 145 in my meet last month. Squats, with proper form, 200 lbs. Pre-trainer, with bad form, 280 lbs.0 -

I am having that same issue. Gained 10-12lbs on a bulk. Lost 5lbs of it and now am just like la de da sucking at cutting.
I can do it, I know I can but also was tested last time at 16% or so fat at my goal weight pre bulk so know these last 5lbs of fat are not easy.1 -
I recently added a gym membership to utilize equipment I don't have at home. I don't lift as heavy as I'd like on some things because of joint issues, but I push it as much as possible. I'm enjoying the changes.

I never thought about that. I totally didn't mean to "out" anyone.0 -

Yeah. It's so hard. I do NOT have that willpower on the weekend that I had when I was fat. I want a drink and I want ramen and burgers.0 -

350 lb deadlift - hopefully by the powerlifting meet I'm doing in August. Still cutting/recomping - not sure what my goal weight is at this point, but I'm not there yet.5 -

Nice to see an updated photo @quiksylver296. You look awesome! It looks like so much more than just a 16lb drop. Good luck at the meet!2 -

So I have a question that I'm sure has probably been asked on this thread: which program should I use (Starting Strength vs nrolfw vs Strong Curves vs StrongLifts 5x5 vs Thinner, Leaner, Stronger, etc.) I am a beginner and have lots of weight to lose. I also am dealing with some low back pain, which is new. I will eat at a deficit for weight loss, but I also want to build muscle (if that is possible on a deficit). What do you guys think?0

Those are all great programs. My local library had paper copies of many of them so I read up and picked what worked for me and the equipment I have access to. Most people will say you can't build appreciable muscle while eating at a deficit. There are some exceptions including those new to lifting that you'll see referenced as "noob gains." However those gains will generally taper off. One of the greatest advantages of lifting while losing weight, it will help minimize muscle loss. Many will also recommend you keep your protein intake high while eating at a deficit: 0.8 to 1g per pound LBM.2 -
Four month results.
I have been working out from home as I am relocating to another country soon and have to save money. Been doing dumbbell front squats, deadlifts and hip thrusts 3-4x a week since February. Started with 60lbs, now using 110lb dumbbells (can't find any heavier ones atm). Added some HIIT at the park and kettlebells every other day from mid April.

I agree with the previous answer that all of these would be good programs to start with. I recommend you just pick one and get started. I personally chose StrongLifts 5x5 because of its simplicity (just a handful of compound lifts to learn the technique for) and because the free StrongLifts app made it super easy to track workouts (and it automatically adds the weight for you on the next workout, so you just do what it tells you). There are also tons of free Stronglifts resources online (form videos, etc.). For me, this was super foolproof.
There's a great women's StrongLifts group here on MFP with lots of info about modifying the program for women. You may want to check it out.5
