Found a Mothers Day card from the pets sitting on my computer this morning, I've already walked the dogs for 45 minutes and had my breakfast. In a few minutes we'll meet a friend and walk for another hour or more. One day at a time my life is good.

Yesterday my DH, DS and DdIL went to a cattle auction. The place was 2 and a half hours away. Very nice place and a Hugh brunch. The funny story was they were selling female black angus and celebrating Morhers Day. The announcer ask for the oldest female in attendance to raise their hand. I looked around and nobody had a hand up so I raised mine. He ask how told and I told him 77 then he brought me a flower arrangement. A lady came over and took my picture and said "you look good!"
Leaving tomorrow for Denver and DGS high school graduation. So excited that I will get to meet Rori for breakfast!!!

For you right now. One day at a time is a good plan for now.

Happy Mothers day to all! I just found this thread. I'm 55 and have needed to lose 10 pounds forever! Looking for inspiration, moral support, and motivation. I already consistently work out so that is not the problem. I always do better when trying to accomplish something as a team. Hope this is the team:)9

Happy Mother's Day dear friends. Pray you have a good day and enjoy getting pampered. I am working 6-4:30 today then going over to our oldest son's for cook out. Going to be in the high 80's and low 90's the next couple days. Since I am off tomorrow want to work on cleaning all the sticks and stuff out of my rock garden.
Yesterday was not a good day food wise. Seems I was eating all day. I have to get back on track as I am not happy with the weight I have put back on and sure do not want to keep going up. Today is a new day!
Barbie--I hope Jake makes the right choice and realizes you can not go back and get different results. Hugs!
Lanette--Congrates on the 6 months no drinks. I know since I have stopped 11 years ago I do feel better. You are right that picture made he relax and smile.
Heather--glad things with your party is going well. That is a great picture of you and the DGB's. They both look happy with the cake. Thanks for the Bea fix. She is growing up so fast.
Kate--Happy Birthday.
Well ladies time to get some work done. Enjoy the day. Blessings, Vicki Grand Island, NE3 -
Sharon in Lethbridge: I'd love to hear more about the horses your brother bought. I've recently bought four plants; two are upright fuchsias that are in the ground next to our walkway and two are hanging fuchsia baskets.
Kate UK: Happy Birthday! :flowerforyou: DH's birthday is tomorrow and he will be 70. May is a good month to be born.

Knackered and just woken up from a crash out nap. It's then when you realise how old you really are!
I think it all went well, though both the kids hurt themselves a little bit at the playground this morning. Took Edie a while to get over her stomach scraping.
Gave them all lunch and sent them on their way. Wonderful, but PHEW!
Going to have to get going tomorrow, cooking and preparing for my brother's 65th birthday lunch on Friday. I have 2 routine health appointments this week, plus yoga and a second viewing. Cleaner coming the day after the viewing. Boo! House is fairly straight, though crumbs are lurking everywhere! Chocolate cake in every crevice!
Going to cook him family joke fish cakes, goulash and Crepes Suzette. The family joke refers to some absolutely ghastly fish cakes I once had on a family meal out with them. It has gone down in family history. So I am going to make some delicious ones.
Spoke on the phone to an old friend this afternoon. That's good.

Thought you might be interested to see my ex, sitting next to me, his soon to be 15 yr old daughter talking to us, my DDIL's mother, who thoroughly enjoyed the day, the hyper cousin and my younger son. My ex also has a 12 year old son, who couldn't come.. He is 70 this year and looks after them most of the week while his much younger wife works up in Scotland. We were married for 28 years. It all got very tormented and complicated towards the end, but we parted as friends.

Sharon, thanks. I will take that hug and maybe come back and get it again. I know on Mother's Day i will be getting up and going to church without myy husband giving me a card or any other kind of sentiment. But when I got home, he didn't say hello to me. Now he always does after I sat hi to him. But for once, when I come in the door, I would like for him to say hi. He was there in his robe, poop bag hanging out and just in his tidy whities. Now 2 hours later he is going to empty said poop bag so we can go out and have a nice lunch with my family. Michelle's roommate which we have had with our family dinners many times was going to come but backed out. Charlie said for me to text her to tell him we can give him $10 toward his meal. Yes, that is nice but why can't he think that he could give me a gift, card, flower, anything. He is taking me out to eat but he would be doing that on any and every single Sunday. he would like to do that every single meal because he likes to eat out all the time.
The lady who sang a solo sang a song that her Mom taught her as a child. Jesus loves me. I think I cried all my make up off. You know why Mother's Day is hard on me. That burden that I allowed on my Mom's heart for months before she died, and was still there the day she died.
So far it hasn't been a good day. Now I will go spend time with my family and maybe my feelings will reverse.

Heather: I love the family photo on the patio. You look fabulous!
Joyce: Mother's Day is tough. I've talked to both of my kids on the phone and am grateful for it. They live thousands of miles away. My daughter is stuck at home babysitting her own children and the youngest daughter of her brother-in-law who died. When my mom was alive I had her come for Mother's Day and cooked a special meal for her. Sometimes my Auntie came too. I never moved father than driving distance away from my parents because they needed me. My parents didn't ask for this, but they needed it and I knew it. Sometimes I feel a little sorry for myself that my kids are so far away. Self-pity is not pretty or fun so I try to stuff down negativity and look for blessings. So far, I've always found many blessings to help me through.
My husband & I went to a local Chinese Restaurant for lunch. The food was delicious and we brought home leftovers. We drove to a nursery in a neighboring town to look for a particular fuchsia that DH wants, but they didn't have any on display. They said they'd have some brought up from the greenhouse in a couple of hours, but they're a random assortment and there is not any way to tell whether the one he wants is among them other than looking at them ourselves. We didn't wait.

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY to all my dear friends here that are mothers. And Happy Day to all the rest. You guys are the best and I love having you in my life.
Janet#2, how sweet of your kids. Did both flowers come at once? Bet your house smells wonderful.
Katla, your riding lesson sounds like fun. Glad you all enjoyed it.
Kate, I hope your stay with your DD is less stressful than you expect. You are good to go when you aren’t looking forward to it. (((Hugs)))
DD and DH took me out to brunch. We had a great time together and it’s a beautiful day. DD gave me a lovely card that she got in Oregon before she started home. I’m so enjoying having her here!

Hello everyone! I just found this group and love all the activity and supportive posts. I'm 55, 5'10" and need to lose about 65-75 pounds. I'm one of those life long yo-yo dieters. I think I've finally figured out one of the reasons is because I would lose weight but still not be fit. Even though I'd hit goal weight I still wasn't happy because I was out of shape. I believe that to be happy with the weight loss I have to work on my muscles as well as the scale. There are other mom issues as well (love you Mom!) but now I recognize them and deal with it.
I have to create a plan for getting fit while I lose the weight. Still figuring that out. I have access to a full gym and live next to a nature preserve where I hike so there's no excuse, except the fear of looking like an idiot in the gym. Does anyone else feel that way? I look forward to getting to know everyone and reading about everyone's successes and how you overcome.5 -

Kate Happy Birthday!
Katla I was recently looking at a Pema Chodron video - she was talking about recognizing when we take a "hook" and then learning how to choose a different response to the "hook". It sounds as if you and your husband react very differently to the same "hook". I like your response. Your husband's response causes him to expend negative energy on stuff he can't control. It's seductive. But a waste of energy, I think.
Happy Mother's Day! to all who celebrate it today! I am thinking Mother's Day in Europe is in 2 weeks? My partner and I had a wonderful Mother's Day this year! One son and daughter-in-law sent us EACH a dozen of the most beautiful red roses I have ever seen! And another son made brunch with Mimosas, crab cake Eggs Benedict, asparagus and hollandaise - yum yum! Plus a bouquet of beautiful lilies for each of us. In past years my son has given me something but nothing for my partner. This is a big shift. I think my 8 year old granddaughter has something to do with it. She is quite insistent about including my partner when she talks about her grandmothers. It is sweet and has helped us heal. She is something else.
Here is a picture of my mother, in my opinion the best person on the face of the earth. She was my best friend, a wonderful mother, and was wise and smart and witty. She wasn't perfect, but she had so many great qualities you didn't notice her faults. How very lucky I was to have her for all those years. She died in 2001 at the age of 76. She is in the pink outfit. The woman to her right is my paternal grandmother.

welcme jddavis2015. I go to the gym just for me, I don't look at anyone else and guess what, nobody is looking at me! Not a fan of group classes but love the machines and how much better I feel when I move, sedentary is a dangerous place for me. Keep checking in and let us know a little more about you, general area you're from and what you like to be called. Reading posts has helped me stay accountable, very very supportive group here. Katla, I think a lot of it was, and is self pity. Going to church I knew at least the church gave out flowers to all the Mothers. But the person that usually does it was out of town and therefore no one else took over. So although the service was good, I didn't get my flower. Michelle, did get me some chocolate. The meal, for some of us, was great. everyone ordered steak except for me. I kind of ate good. I ordered chicken breast but it was smothered with bacon, real bacon, mushroom, bbq sauce and cheese. Really tasted good. Several of the family said they wished they had ordered what I had. Discussion stayed away from politics until Charlie started it. No one answered him in anything and he stopped.
So I have heard from both my girls. Christina put a post on FB of a silly picture of us and saying how much ome people love their Moms but she also likes me a whole lot.
Have a good day ladies.
Joyce, Indiana4
