What nobody tells you about losing weight

But have gone from, I never run, I will never run to. Ooh I can use Tuesdays workout to up my speed on the treadmill and I am at 9km/h. I have a running playlist! And I have registered for park run for when I finish C25K. And I have a goal of eventually getting 5km run in under 30mins.
Totally. I hated running before, but after losing 40 lb. and lifting weights, I am in shape to run and enjoy it now. Just finished my first half marathon this weekend!

That I would have to relearn how to shave my legs without cutting myself over the bony prominence's...My legs need to heal.....LOL6

That I would feel more uncomfortable walking home at night. I've been approached more by men and I feel intimidated by that.29

People have said similar and that it's the last to go but what I find weird is that my belly remains pretty much the same size but my legs and arms are thinner so I feel like I "look" fatter than when I started. Hopefully that will pass18

How much I'd want it for others. I used to selfishly feel better about myself if others were overweight, but now that I'm getting stronger and the weight is coming down, I want everyone to feel empowered and happy in their bodies too.53

Me too. I feel so sad for people, especially children, who are hugely overweight.

I feel the same way, today I saw a young lady in early 20's who was very large and hope that she will find her strength to be healthy.11 -

I know the feeling. I'm getting more attention from men. I'm not intimidated but severely annoyed by the increase in attention. I don't care for it. I have to constantly wear my sun glasses when I walk outside now. It's sort of my protective shield. I can pretend I don't notice the random guy that keeps trying to talk to me when I'm clearly ignoring him and minding my own business. I have to be creative to ignore the unwanted attention. Most of the time I pretend I'm deaf and keep it moving.

OMG! I totally need less sleep! How have I not 'noticed' this in relation to losing weight! I have tonnes more energy when compared to 5 months ago and I do way more.
example: yesterday, I swam 3km, went to work (9-5), played squash, got home (7.30), mowed lawn, prepped 2 lunches, cooked 2 teas, prepped lunch for gf, packed gym bag for next day. And it was still only 9pm, so went to bed and read for an hour or so. Then up at 6:15 this morning full of beans!
Am loving this!!

Same, I used to need 9h to not feel like a rotten potato, now it's just 7h! I've gained 8% more life!

I agree with this, I am guessing it is because the quality of the sleep is so much better. I fall asleep and stay asleep for the most part. It is wonderful.18 -

I agree also. I can run on so much less sleep! I'm still a large woman and still have another 100lbs to lose, but since loosing 65lbs, I have noticed I don't need as much sleep! I used to sleep up to 12 hours a day and still felt like crap. Now on 5-6hrs I can stay up all day and stay active.18 -
Going to hang out and people only talking about their food around you and being self-conscious. I think people really believe I am judging what they eat because I am careful about what I eat. I just want to shake them sometimes and be like, "I could care less if you eat that cheeseburger and then go home and not workout!!" Lol. Sorry this just happened for the millionth time last night.
Also, it hurts sitting in wooden chairs for a long period of time because I forgot that I have a naturally bony butt (this used to be a real issue when I was a kid).22 -
Also, feeling insecure about eating healthy when everyone else is eating unhealthy around you.19

This is so difficult. I usually eat lunch at home with my family, but once or twice a month I go out with coworkers. They typically get beers and burgers with fries. There I am with my unsweet tea or water and a salad with grilled chicken. I just don't think I can get a 2 patty, 2 cheese, bacon, bbq sauce, potato sticks burger into the calorie budget! Plus I don't feel right without the lunch salad.

This is why I feel happy watching the kids triathlon that takes place the day before my triathlon in Chicago.8
