Can anyone explain what this Fitness and Fatigue graph is in Strava? I read the blurb but still have no understanding how to use the data.0

I'm a bit late to post, but I've been running! My goal is 100km in July, preparing for the Toronto Waterfront Half in October.
KM to date: 10.4
If anyone else is aiming for 100kms in July - add me!

SO I am at -22 if I read this right. I guess that means I am too unfit to race? Odd. Considering I am faster/fitter now than my last race. The help files @Stoshew71 link were not much help either. I guess I will just ignore it.0 -

That's what I got from it too... it bases form on the whole fitness vs fatigue thing, but I have a hard time believing it. I really need to stop looking at it...LOL1 -

It's weird. I probably wouldn't have tried to pass a guy... it's probably my competitive streak or thinking if she can do it so can I.
I'm with you on that - although I did once insist on passing two older guys just because I couldn't let the old guys beat me.
If it had been @mobycarp though I wouldn't have even bothered trying....
Hey, you never know. The top 3 women at Firecracker Four Mile finished ahead of me, and it's a rare race that I finish ahead of the first woman.2 -
Main goal is to survive the Eugene Curnow Trail marathon and get more time on feet.
Nominal mileage goal: Let's say 100? Maybe I'll be a @PastorVincent and set my goal at the end of the month

Hope you all had a runderful day!

Omggggg, 15 pages in. Ughhh. Guess this is what happens when I go on vacation! Lol. I'm going to try to catch up, not sure if I'll have time, but in the meantime, here's my goal for July along with what I've done so far. Hope everyone is off to a great start!
I officially start my full marathon training plan on the week of Monday the 17th. I'm nervous and excited! Eeek! Setting my goal at 150, we'll see where it falls, since these few weeks between my last half and the start of the full plan have been pretty loosy goosy, and have included a vacation with no running, lol.
Tomorrow morning is the Women's Distance Festival 5k, not sure how conditions are for a PR, since I didn't run for 6 days straight (from the 30th through the 5th), and it's also supposed to already be 72°F at race start, but I'm gonna give it my best effort!

Don't feel bad @mobycarp I rarely finish in front of the first woman either.5 -
@KatieJane83 you're so close to starting it officially! You're going to do do great!1

Training for first marathon in October and had a week off with a niggling injury. Back on it this week. Goal for July is 160km. 15k down, 145 to go...4

@PastorVincent downloaded your book "The Enemy of an Enemy"
On the fueling for long runs, I think it's good as an experience for your body to get used to the process of running and consuming at the same time but what @Stoshew71 is saying about training your body to perform at the depleted levels makes sense, so on some of my long training runs I will go totally without and others I will consume while running especially with the type of fuel provided on the day of the marathon.
On the women's effects on runners I do believe there was commentary that suggested women are more likely to step it up in the presence of other women. I'd be happy if I finished before the first woman in my age category. My half marathon I was passed by a 15 year old young woman with less than a half mile to the finish. She passed me like I was standing still, very humbling.2 -
5 miles this morning.

Thanks @KatieJane83 I just registered for my full in October. Harford Marathon supposed to be a nice flat course, a buddy of mine proposed the idea that it might be boring to not have many hills. Don't think that would be a problem.1

I have been considering this too. I do not fuel for like a 10 or 12 mile run now, but when I think I will be out for say three hours, I start fueling at 45 or 60 mins. Might try next long run without. Sure would save me money on Clif Blok and gels

Tomorrow will be different, we're going out for 4 hours and planning on fueling during the run/hike... I'll be trying Tailwind for the first time, and my new Honeystinger waffles.
From this point on out, I'll probably doing some fueling on most all of my long runs, as I'll be ultra training, and the name of the game is fueling...0 -

Not heard of Tailwind? Glancing at their site seems to be a drink mix?0 -

Yeah. Basically electrolyte and fuel mix. Buddy is bringing it. It's his main fuel on ultra. Still in the learning/experiment phase for fueling and have a steep learning curve before October0 -
When I got home from work it was 33°C "feels like 36°C", and on the radio they warned that the "humidex was above 41". I had to look up what that means (humidity index, aparently) , and found it means "great discomfort, avoid exertion". Duh, I could have told the radio guys that without any fancy formulas!
I waited until after sunset to go running, but it was still too. dang. hot! In the end I used the darkness as a reason to look for some geocaches in locations which are too crowded during the day, which happened to give me an excuse to stop my watch a few times while I looked for them. I was out maybe 1h45min, but only running for 1h15 of those, with 7 geocaching breaks (which were not always complete recovery, since some of them involved climbing trees or crawling through shrubbery ).
And to make things a little more interesting, I switched on chases in the zombies-run app and ended up running away from zombie hordes four times. Not the most focused run ever, but the most fun I could have in this heat!
1.7.17 - 10.9km running (6x800m intervals with warm-up and cool-down)
2.7.17 - 30km bike, 20min "quick strength for runners"
3.7.17 - 10.1km running
4.7.17 - 36.3km bike (commute + evening ride), 25min "quick strength for runners"
5.7.17 - 12.9km "mountain running"
6.7.17 - 28.5km bike (commute + ride to pub)
7.7.17 - 10.5km running with geocaches & zombie chases (+ 13km bike commute)

Goal = 93 miles
The humidity got to me yesterday and likely will today. I'm not a fan of running at night but, I find I'm at my best at that time.
I decided to update every Friday on my running.

7/3 - 2.8
7/4 - 4.2
7/5 - Rest (I was driving all day)
7/6 - 3.4
7/7 - 3.1
Goal = 93 miles
So Far = 20.28 miles
Every Saturday I plan to run 5 miles whether I end up walking it or not.
Good to see everyone is sticking to this challenge! It motivates me greatly!7 -

I REALLY like the sound of its advertising. If all I ever had to carry with me was hydration.... hmmm... that would be way easier. I am a very heavy sweater. 2 hour a run has me adjusting the drawstring on my shorts so that they do not fall off and tightening hydration belt and easily dropping 7-10 pounds. I could dilute the stuff out to 40oz which is what I drink per hour during the summer (only cause that is near the limit if what I can easily carry right now) which will help with the complaints I see it beeing too salty or too sweet for some.0 -

July 7 – 6.75 miles Intervals
Total: 31.75/100 miles
It’s Fartlek Friday! I hadn’t done an interval run for two weeks because of time, temperatures, and work schedules. I was kind of dreading it, but it felt good. Today’s intervals were 200m, 400m, 600m, 800m, and 1000m at race pace with half the distance recovery. I was really happy with my pace, and so surprised to make it the entire 1000m on that last interval. Hopefully, these intervals will help me reach my 29-minute 5K by September.
Upcoming Races:
July 21 - St. Pete Beach Series, Race #2, 5K

So effing hot today, 90 is some BS. Hoping it'll be less than "kill me now" degrees tomorrow when I do my first long run of double long run weekend #1 at Wilmore
July 1- 9.7
July 2- 5
July 4- 11.7
July 6- 12.1
July 7- 7.6
