Great day today.6

Marcelyn: I'd be proud of your DGD, too. Sewing a lovely dress like that at only 9 years old is very impressive.
Re: Great advice to Trish.
Barbie: I'm happy for all of you that Bessie handled the sleepover well. Things seem to be getting better for her.
janetr: I love the poster about fitness is about being better than you used to be. Sweet! :flowerforyou:
DS is leaving early tomorrow & I'd be sad except that it sounds like he will be coming our way again relatively soon. Yay!!! I plan to be up are 4am to see him off. I'll probably go right back to bed after he leaves for the airport.

Barbie, that is so neat. I thought he would have to have new hardware putt in that would match the new computer set up. I wonder how much of that cost is passed onto you. It was amazing how they could tweet Mom's pacemaker over their equipment. I know it made a world of difference in her health. It was awful when they used the magnet in hospice to turn it off. But she was suffering so. It had to be done.
Awwwww Allie. So sorry you have strep throat. God will have a silver lining waiting for you at the end of all of this. Make sure you cough Tom's way.
It is so wmderfuk how Christina's boos takes care of her. She is by all standards, uneducated except for a high school degree since she didn't finish college. But he has taken her natural intelligence who I'm still now sure where she got all of it from and everyday molds her more and more. But he is so generous to her. They empty their freezer every month or so and give he about 25 pounds of food, he has permanently lent her his old Mercedes until he needs it but he doesn't see that coming in the far future at all. Now it rides terrible and has no airconditioning but they are used to that with the clunkers they buy. Last. Isn't their AC went out in their house. The landlord is bringing two window u its but her boss told her to use his credit card and buy one and when they are done with it he will put it in his bonus room. I am always amazed at how well she is treated.
As usual choir practice was wonderful tonight.

Rori - Thank you so much for reminding me to do my HIIT'S. There is an email today from MFP restating the benefits for older people. I did six sessions this morning. I know Michele does them often.
I left the door of the garage freezer not quite shut overnight. It's iced up a bit, but still at -2° so I'm hoping everything is OK. Good job I went to get out some chick peas this morning.
We are going to have a chickpea, cauliflower, pea and cashew nut curry for dinner. Mainly because I had a cauliflower and a packet of cashews I haven't used . Cashews are 179 calories an ounce!!! I can't decide whether to do it in the IP or just on the stove. We don't like our veg overcooked. I'm just winging it - no recipe and I haven't cooked exactly that combo before. I'm soaking the 1 oz of cashews.
I did my typing yesterday. Today I will write a short section. I have written about my fear, when young, of staring at myself in mirrors. This is common in abused children. Today I want to write about the similar terror I used to voluntarily induce in myself by concentrating on my being really here. I mainly used to do that at my desk in school.
Luckily I am properly back in my body these days.
Lots of love, Heather xxxxxxxxxx UK

Morning! We hosted a potluck last night. I still have anxiety but am at a point where I can recognize when I'm enjoying myself, somewhere in the middle and see the benefits of reaching out. Will remind myself to be open to this again (had been 3 years since I had these folks over!!)
And grilled peaches are really amazing if you've got good peaches--didn't need sugar or ice cream just beautiful all by themselves!
Going in to sit on interview committee all day but will bring my gym clothes and head out after to work out the stress and let it go.
Have a healthy day and stay cool. NYKAREN6 -
Good morning all! Hurray! I got up and got in my four mile walk this morning; but it is 98% humidity! Temp this morning was 82. It's like walking through water. I was drenched by the time I got home. But it's done. A cool shower cooled me down and woke me up.
Marcelyn- forgot to mention yesterday that your granddaughter is adorable and so talented! That is a spectacular dress she made!
I just have to share: I was watching the news a minute ago, while I read posts, and our local news did a health segment on breast exams and what it means when you have dense breast tissue. This is what caused me to go back for a second mammogram the last two mammograms I have had. Dense breast tissue shows up as white areas on the mammogram; so does breast cancer. The thing is, your doc will often suggest that you have an ultrasound or a MRI done to rule out cancer. Here is the thing. In Michigan, most insurances do not cover the ultrasound or MRI and there is no law to enforce insurance companies to pay for that! ALSO...if, after the ultrasound and MRI are completed and the doctor decides, based on the results that you need a biopsy, the insurance ALSO will not cover the biopsy and all of the lab charges, etc. that go with that! THAT makes me SO angry! Your only option is to either have these tests done and pay out of pocket (approx. $2K for MRI) or to not have them done and just hope for the best! I really hope congress can get a comprehensive, affordable health care plan out to the people. One that gives even us "everyday citizens" the best coverage at a reasonable price. Sorry rant over.
Gotta fly. Promised myself I would be off the computer by the time kiddos arrived. ttfn KJ (Kelly)4 -

I am leaving it on my lawyers hands..6 -
Allie hope you feel better soon.
I realize the big concern is about what is happening to health insurance and the cost of it. Right now I have help with my insurance but that is running out. I will have at least two years where my cost alone will be at least $400-$600 a month.
I had a long talk with a friend last night about how no one seems to be asking the questions Why is the health of our nation in such trouble? and Why is health care itself so expensive? MRI here are not 2K try 3-4K. Colonoscopies are also in that range. Those are just tests to see if you have a problem. Husband's surgery was close to $100,000. If he had had to stay on Chemo it would have been $6000 a month.
When I went to the PT I did not use insurance my cost was $90 a visit. It it had gone through insurance it would have been $150 a visit. I find that interesting too. My deductible is so high that even with all my visits it won't come close to my deductible so it was cheaper for me just to pay it up front even though my insurance costs are $440 a month with a $7000 deductible.

My husband and I attend the symphony relatively frequently ... and we went again tonight.
Rachmaninov Piano Concertos 1 & 2
Very good! Excellent pianist.
We like to dress up a bit ... this is an older photo of a somewhat plumper me, but it's pretty much what I wore tonight.

Heather: I am so awed by the courage and determination you are employing to look back and write about bad times from your childhood. You are an amazing woman.
NYKaren: Congratulations on hosting a successful potluck. WTG!!!
Allie: I am so glad you're doing things to make yourself happy. Enjoy visiting with your best friend & her family. :flowerforyou:
Our son just left for the airport. He thinks he may be back on our side of the continent again in a few weeks. It was lovely to be able to spend some time with him and I'm happy his work brought him this way for a little while.
I'm planning to go to yoga today and also to head up to the stable for a little while. Maybe I can get there in time to do a little work, & maybe it will be done before I arrive & I'll just get Arrow out of his paddock and move his feet for a while.

Good morning everyone. I haven't been on the discussion for a few days.
Bit emotional right now. Had my family here with me to give them my results. Its very nice to have a support group in person as well as here. I know that my diagnosis has been beaten by so many others. I won't let it consume me.
Now back to why were here. I have been logging my meals everyday. I am very serious about my heathy eating journey.
Thank u for letting me share.

Hi, all - thanks for the shout-outs. I do read every day, but feel utterly incapable of being a source of advice or wisdom for anyone else, thus the silence for now. I'm doing yoga 5-6 days a week, which is helping a lot of things, and Egg is helping me out while I'm in what's supposed to be lotus position. Alaska was amazing, I leave for Montana on Sunday, and hopefully sitting on a mountaintop for a few days will be good for what ails my soul. Oh! And I'm also on Day 4 of no sugar, which is a massive step for me. Love y'all. Lisa in West Texas.

Trishayla: Fifty pounds over two years is great progress! Little by little, you can do it!
Meredith: Hope your son finds a job!
Allie: I hope you feel better soon!
Margaret and KJ: Totally agree that there is something terribly wrong with health care in the USA. The per capita expense per person is almost double that of most other developed countries and the care provided is much less. This article has some interesting comparisons: http://edition.cnn.com/2017/03/17/health/health-care-global-uk-national-health-system-eprise/index.html
I had a great NSV today - my gown at the hair salon not only closed, but overlapped slightly! I started with a 6-8 inch gap. Silly NSV, but it made me feel good!

Good morning!
Poor DH is out mowing. He insists on finishing before rain tomorrow even if it's only 40% chance. It's 92f heat index right now. He's been out there for 2 hours and only 1 break. His tee-shirt is totally soaked with sweat. I wish he would quit but he won't. Men. They never listen!!
I slept in yesterday till 1pm. I didn't sleep the night before and overworked myself too. I did get a new prescription with a higher dose (gabapentin) so I feel much better today. At least I'm walking around without my cane today and not all hunched over!
I agree with the health insurance issues.
Obamacare is imploding and insurance companies are bailing out of the program. They can't afford the high prices either or it will put them out of business. Hopefully the new plan that will be unveiled this week will be better and can work its way thru Congress. It seems like both parties want their way or nothing. It's the American citizens that are being hurt by their uncooperative actions. Dang!! The election is over, like 8 months ago.
We are so lucky and I'm grateful we have State of Texas retirement insurance. My back surgery was $150,000 and numerous other office visits and MRI's and X-rays. We have not paid one penny!
Zero, nada, nothing. I only pay a copay for my meds which is not much per month.
I love all the pictures of Olivia, Joaquin, Bea, the little seamstress, and all the pets! Love, love, love!!
I'm sticking to my goals. I gained 1.8 lbs but maybe too much salt and not enough water. Plus changing meds could of had an effect. I'm not going to worry too much. I'm focusing on my upcoming back surgery. Another fusion plus the first fusion will have to be replaced. But I'll have to have the IVT filter done first and discontinue the blood thinner. I probably wrote about all of this before but it's on the forefront on my mind.
Have a happy happy "Throw back Thursday"!

Dana - 1982! Cute photo! Takes me back.... I was the shipping manager for a seafood company in Seattle that year. Glad you are feeling better - hope your DH is drinking a lot of water out there in the lawn sauna.
Heading into town in a few - lunch with a couple GF's and dropping my old spinning wheel/books/supplies off at a little shop that teaches spinning. They may have a buyer for all the stuff. It was a huge part of my life for many years but now time for someone else to enjoy this hobby.
Reading the posts, waving HI to everyone!

Dana - You were a beauty! Sorry your back is such a worry, but if I were you I'd want to get it over with. Worrying is the worst bit.
My cauliflower and cashew curry was delicious! I did use the IP, just out of curiosity. It wasn't slimming as I used coconut cream, but my portion, without rice, was 400 calories, so OK. DH approved.
I did my tiny bit of memoir today. I feel I am crawling along, but at least I'm moving forward.

Went to Seattle to Pike Place Market with a group from the YM yesterday and got in 13,000 steps. Went on the Y bus so did not have to drive. Made it much more enjoyable. I ate fish and chips while there and bought fresh Rainier cherries to bring home. Yum!
Ginger - Love the boot sandals,LOL.
Karen - The pic of Olivia is awesome, love those dark eyes.
Chris - Prayers.
Allie - Sending healing angels your way.
Dana - Hope the back issues get resolved soon so you don't have to worry about it anymore.
Lisa - I like your yoga helper. Enjoy the mountains and hope you find what you need.
Everyone take care, Sue in WA1
