Weighed myself in again and down -1.2 from first weigh in - I think my robe is heavy, but robe is part of official weigh in. So, that feels a little like cheating to weigh again, but encouraging.

Dog walk was short, I will make sure she gets another chance before I leave.

Happy Birthday Vanessa! Make a list and cross things off, it feels wonderful to get the list done.

Hello all! I am back in school now and have kind of restarted my weight loss journey. All the food people brought after the funeral really overwhelmed me because I don't like wasting food. Wish me luck and I'll check in as much as possible in between my studying.

One funeral down. One to go. The family decided to have the memorial service for Grandmother in September.

My work took a few minutes to go out together and look at the eclipse. That was kind of fun with everyone.

Saltine - Sorry to hear about your aunt. Hope she recovers quickly.
Good luck with the puppy training! Cant say that we did anything special. At night he stayed in kennel and we were punctual getting up and letting him out. Made big deal with praise when he did do his business outside. During the day, we just took him out every couple of hours like clockwork. Kept him out until he went, then praise and immediately back inside till next time. It was tough, but he did learn that outside is the only place to go. Made sure we cleaned any spots with Natures Miracle or other good enzyme/neutralizing cleaner so he wouldnt be attracted back to it. Scooped any poopies in the house and dumped in basic area where we wanted him to go. Lots of patience and had someone with him 24/7 for the first week or so. If your pup cant handle the crate/kennel, try a playpen sort of set up to just pen him into a small area or gate off a door to a small room, like the bathroom. Just something to limit his space so he wont be tempted to go there.

Lana - sorry to hear you are still battling that head cold. have the Cboys whip you up a hot toddy and a massage so you feel better

rsamuels - the fit of the clothes is the real test of weight loss. dont get obsessed with the scales.

Annie - hope the new case manager works out well. dont stress about it until you meet them. enjoy the current case worker as long as you can!

DH booked some time away with friends for my birthday this coming weekend. With all the stress of everything piling up on me this summer, it will be a welcome break. Am sure I will not be within my calorie counts most days if we have to eat out. He did book a suite with a kitchen so I can cook some to stay somewhat healthy and be able to make my chai. I am having cake and ice cream on my birthday - just not as much as I did last year.

It is a lounge chair at our virtual/fantasy Serial Starters Waterfall, Pool and Beach Club, with palm trees and our Cabana Boys, of course

Happy Birthday, Vanessa - hope the day was just what you wanted it to be!

Happy Eclipse Day to everyone else! Our office was pretty empty due to vacations but it was REALLY empty during the peak time of the eclipse (we had 80% coverage in DC - pretty cool).

Kathryn, your DH deserves DH-of-the-Year for such a thoughtful and wonderful bday gift. Especially after the summer you've had...

Enichols, welcome back! Here's to a successful school year for you.

Sara, well done on the weigh-in!

Waves to Samuels, Lana, others - save me a lounge chair under the palm tree: 3 more days until vacation and I am dragging towards the finish line....

    Good evening,

Will watch something on youtube and knit while watching and then call it a night. Wanted to post one of the funnier eclipse based FB posts, but it doesnt work. Someone was tired of waiting for the eclipse and stuck a piece of bologna at the window - that was funny.

Food choices were okay today and green # so that for today is enough. Window open to help cool off a little.

    Wishing all a good night

Sara - I'm with you - something to watch and relax and then I'll try to get to bed a bit earlier than usual. I've been staying up too late at night--then there's too much "up" time to be snarfling around the kitchen looking for something to munch on. Need to adjust!

    See you all tomorrow!

We had 90% coverage, today. We all sat outside for about 30 minutes watching... luckily, we have no appts between noon and 2:00... was very exciting... it didn't get totally dark, but was enough for dusk to dawn lights came on.... really was neat to see, and knowing, that it won't happen again for over 100 years.... amazing

    TUESDAY

    Good morning,

As I was watching CNN yesterday I was thinking of you Dawn and wondering - my coworkers were not impressed - I guess they thought the eclipse same with a big "o".....hehehehe

Wondering if I should select a medical plan for one specialist? To do so would put all my dr's in a place I cant easily get to - thoughts?

Oatmeal on and window open - I heard paper and dog did not - she was snoring and was angry when I woke her to get paper. Such a life.

Wave to all who follow, lurking from work later.

It was a very lovely birthday! There was a lot of cloud cover, but I was still able to see totality here. So awesome! Back to work today. 2 12's then I am leaving town Thursday to go see my hubby. He's about 9 hours away from me for a while, so we road trip to see each other.

Tilliesmommy, it sounds more convenient to have everyone in one place. That's what I would go with!

Count the wins. When it feels like you're failing count the wins. Whatever they look like.

I mopped the bathroom floor before going to work this morning. It was one of my goals and I did it. So regardless of the other things I didn't do at least I got that right. It's a tiny thing for others but its huge for me. And the laundry might be piling up and my calorie goal almost destroyed BUT I have a shiny bathroom floor.

Sara- some coworkers were disappointed because it wasn't total darkness...I thought it was really cool, with the partial... either way, it's something we will never see again in our lifetime and I think the is amazing...

Was so sad to hear of the loss of Jerry Lewis..I grew up watching his movies and the MDA telethon... he will be missed...

I'm torn between continuing this journey... or, just accepting myself the way I am... like it or not... the scale just keeps going up...I've been watching my Macros, and just can't get it... no matter how good I think I'm doing, Fat and Carbs are always high... some days, Carbs aren't so bad, Protein is almost never good... even when I think I'm doing good with Protein, Fat wins out... I'm just frustrated ...I will continue to track, to try to keep from getting outta control... just need to make better choices... even more than I think I am...

Dawn - It seems as if you need to seriously change what you are eating, even if only for one meal per day.
One meal of your day needs to be either a soup ("clear" not cream) or a salad with some clean boring protein added to it, such as some chicken breast. Chicken breast can bore me to tears, but if I stick it in a soup, I can get it down. If I put it in a salad, I have to be careful with what dressing I use.

We can't give up - things will only get worse! Stinks, but it's true.

    Courage!

Dawn - look back at your best days and see what it was that made them your best days? what did you eat?

what is it that you are eating that is problematic? Is it having to take lunch to work or is having to cook, or not cooking, as the case may be? Do you have the ability to pre-plan your day meal-wise?

try to find substitutions for high calorie, high fat, or high carb foods. there are lots of different websites that have substitution guides. i got lots of ideas from the blog, Hungry Girl.

dont give up. but dont try to do it all at once either. try it one thing at a time. if you cant get quite get a handle your calorie count, that's fine, at least make sure what you are eating is nutritious and not empty calories. once you have the healthier options down, then go for the calorie count. same with exercise. baby steps.

like they say, the weight did not appear over night so its not going to go away overnight. that's why i only weigh myself once a week or every other week. i know my weight will fluctuate a lot in between and i dont want to stress about it. by doing that, i have been able to lose the weight I have lost. also, i go by they way i feel and the way my clothes fit more than by the scale. dont give up!!

    Good evening,

Dawn - I agree with all that has been said - I wanted like crazy recently to go to a buffet and allow myself at least 2 plates worth - but then remembered what it felt like at my heaviest. I know you are down to like your last 15 pounds or so and they are the hardest. Just want to make sure you are not throwing in the towel completely - One of my favorite quotes from WW was - Just.dont.stop. How is your job going??

Will see eye doctor tomorrow for last time, will ask for referral to see if they have the new insurance. Not a fun process getting new doctors.

Pizza leftover last piece in toaster. Dog is all happy fed for know.

Ali and Missy are awol with those NASA hunks after watching the eclipse.......

With any luck will stop by before snoring starts.

    Be good to yourself.

Thank you every one...I really appreciate all of you...I don't want to give up, completely...I just feel, I'm stressing over my weight and if what I'm eating is good or bad...I struggle with making "good" choices...

As I'm writing this, I just realized, the only time I made "good" choices, was the old point system at WW... it's kinda like, I need to know my limit for the day... if I had 30 points, I would stay on point, almost every single day...I could eat whatever I wanted, but was more able to stay on track...

Trying to make better choices while shopping... but, I truly can't afford to eat "healthy" yes, I can make salads... but, produce is just ridiculous and, it goes bad before I eat it all...

I almost always stay within my calories... or less than... it's just getting my Macros in check...

I eat a lot of chicken...I do eat too much pasta... I'm not a big bread eater... yet, I find days that I eat it 3 times a day (without realizing it until it's too late)

Ever since I worked nights, I started gaining and it just hasn't stopped...i thought for sure, my eating habits would change...as before, I would eat and go right to sleep... now, I'm at least active (sorta) after I eat...

Sara - job is going really well... still having little struggles here and there... much less stress... although, I'm having lots of stress at home...I love SO to death... but, some days, I don't know how I do it... men cause the biggest stress (for me anyway)

Fell asleep too early, so came online, got up before snoring started, have to brush teeth.

Dawn - do you eat a lot of sandwiches - hence the servings of bread? Is pita bread or tortillas to make wraps an option? Variety and less starch.

Glad to know you are doing well at your job. Must be a relief.

Sara - I eat half PB sandwich for bkfst, most days.. or, if I eat eggs, typically have toast... some days, I have sandwiches for lunch... not very often I have bread for dinner, but does happen at times... many times, I don't eat bread (if I have a homemade burger, I won't eat bun)...the days I don't have sandwiches, I grab a snack at gas station (nuts, trail mix, Fritos and bean dip)...the grocery store has a salad bar/ pre made salads, but they are not cheap...

Dawn, one thing I learned fast, junk food is the cheapest food in the store...... How are your fruit/veg in a day? Pre made salads for me are good for 2 reasons, portion control and they weigh the salads and it gets to be almost double the price of my pre made. Give me an idea of a normal day's diet and lets see what we can do.

I went online at advice of nurse (we all knit) and found the closest dr practice is not a good fit, so I found a couple options with both possible med groups and will see if I can get any recommendations.

Time to take Miss T to sleep.

    Good morning Ladies~~

Up early to get to airport to go to NC.

Dawn - Fruits and veggies can be $$$. Balance with apples and bananas, which seem to cost less. Sara has really good advice--stick with her!

Sara - what a huge pain to have to switch up all of your doctors and such. I remember you wrote that some new ones are either far away or really inconvenient to get to. I wish you the best in working it all out to your best advantage. Hugs.

Might not see you all until tomorrow, depending on how today goes.

Waves to everyone who stops by today~~~

    MONDAY,

    Good morning,

Did some research on a website called healthgrades that help to see if dr has qualifications especially good for specialists. Yelp tended to have whiners posting, just saying. With one option all my Dr are far away and may require an uber ride, other option I can drive myself. As they are all new doctors.... it may be a coin toss.

Dawn - bananas can be frozen and are a good treat in summer - apples that are ugly are sometimes cheaper, make applesauce- can also be frozen and makes a good gelato of sorts.

Lana - safe good travel. Stop back in when you can.

BBQ at work, eye doctor apt. Young lady who drives me heard me say that I take my knitting which made her think she could work on her crochet project while waiting. Long appointment and luckily only once a year. Hopefully these long appointments are only connected to the medical group I have now. So maybe that will be an improvement.

Will lurk from work - wave to all who follow!
