Today marks 76 days without alcohol for me! I figured out that if I make it to the end of October, I will be at 100 days.10

I'm a recovering alcoholic and today makes a year I've been sober, so I'm definitely in!13

Day 39 for me. I spent last night with friends, who got polluted. We played darts and I was the only one who could add the scores. It was quite funny in a sad way. Water is my friend. It was so nice to wake up this morning with a clear head and know I made the best choice. I didn't miss a thing. Stay strong people, you're really not missing anything either.
Congratulations Purplelavender and bootyrubsan.. It feels great, doesn't it?9 -

Does anyone use a "something in the hand" substitute at the end of the day? My go to is a bottle or 2 of IBC Diet Root Beer, but was curious if anyone else has the mental hangup of wanting something in your hand. When I quit smoking 30 years ago it was lemon drops, the more sour the better!6

Sometimes I have sparkling water in a wine glass.

@cmeride I once went to a New Years Eve party where I was the only one sober. It was like being in a parallel universe where no one could really see me. I actually vowed never to do a completely sober New Year again because it wasn’t very pleasant. Not deliberately unpleasant on their part but just odd. And drunk people repeat themselves, a lot. Now I often go to Swing Dance related parties where we don’t drink much as it doesn’t make the dancing better.6

Survived a weekend without beer. Makes helping with the newborn so much easier. Clearer mind in the middle of the night and pop up ready to go in the morning.10

One weekend in October almost behind us, three more to go!4

Just checking in with all you lovely people. Started this challenge on 8/29 and have had a grand total of 3 drinks. Cravings subsided after the first couple of weeks, but still feel very tempted in certain situations. I have to have a little internal dialogue to talk myself out it and remind myself why I'm doing this - better sleep, increased energy, weight control, etc.
Also, I have to admit I don't want to end up like my friends/family who made a hobby out of drinking. They all look pretty rough and far older than they are. Some died prematurely or in a very sad, dependent way. Sorry to be a downer! It just helps me to remember there's a big price to pay for drinking heavily.
That's a good incentive.. sometime vanity is ok. I too notice a few friends and relatives that haven't aged well or sadly died early due to alcohol.
Unfortunately I drank last night (my goal is to be AF during the week..which I did) but I also ate too much and I feel like crap today. I was at a party and wasn't driving so I gave into the cold beers.
I've got a wedding next weekend but will be AF til next Friday.4 -

I did this A LOT in the beginning. I was never a social/party drinker. I was more of a isolated drinker. My favorite place to get wasted was sitting on my bed listening to music. The hardest part for me was not having a "drink" to look forward to at night, so I started making these elaborate fruit infused water beverages in mason jars lmao. I was also a fan of drinking cranberry juice mixed with ginger ale with lots of ice in my favorite alcohol glass. Doing this helped me get through the "mourning" phase of giving up alcohol.

Me too. I finally got a handle on it and want to continue having maybe just a few on the weekends if at all.3 -
I've made it 10 days! On September 27 my kids and I got to go see my favorite singer in concert. We even got to meet him, get our passes signed, and get selfies with him. I let myself drink that night, no regrets, and had a great time. Today is really the first time I'm struggling since then. Not sure why...maybe because I've been down with a rough cold and can't run (my mental outlet), or because it's crazy unseasonably humid today...but I just can't settle my mind, and the old habit is trying to creep back in. I may try going for a walk, but I thought I'd check in here first. Reading everyone else's posts seems to help.9

Having a cold or other illness is triggery for me too,I think rest and lots of fluids help though, been a pretty easy weekend for me been thinking about how a hangover feels is a great deterrent5 -
Day 13. Made it through the weekend without any major cravings. Last night I had a dream that one of my friends offered me a beer; I turned it down. Staying strong even in my dreams lol.10

I had my wine this weekend while watching scary movies with the family. But I definitely cut back on my intake and stuck to healthy foods all weekend.
