What nobody tells you about losing weight

Okay for a guy:
1. The realization that you're tying your own shoes without your wife's help.
2. That the back trouble and feet trouble that you had has mysteriously disappeared.
3. That you're finally to that last notch on your belt and you have to drill a hole in the leather to keep on using it.
4. And when you put on a pair of men's brief underwear inadvertently in your old size your junk keeps falling out.
5. You compare your weight to some other object. "I have lost two 16 pound bowling balls in weight."37 -

I actually feel like my boobs look better. I added weight training in which strengthened my pectoral muscles and made a huge difference in how my boobs looked.

No one tells you that if you're tall and more slender it's REALLY REALLY REALLLY REALLY hard to find clothes that fit. Like, insanely hard. My local stores have stopped carrying tall pants in any regular sizes (4-16) whatsoever. There's a petites section for short women. There's a juniors section for short women. While the womens' section is also for short women, you can make up for some of the lack of length by going up in size. But not so much in the regular department.
I wear a size 6 L now, and I really need that extra length.. but criminy heck is it hard to find.
Go to Zara! They have great clothes for tall women. At the moment, it's fashion to wear extra long trousers, so its a perfect moment to buy.
For jeans, try Diesel or Levi's. They have individual sizes for waist and lenght up to 34 or sometimes 36 inches. They are sold in some department stores, otherwise on line.4 -

Gotta give a shout-out to the brand that DOES women's pants with pockets. Added to that, the quality of both the service and product is outstanding.

Duluth is fantastic! Great mocs and customer service. Plus their flannel lined pants are comfy!3 -
OMG those prices tho! Granted the last time I bought knit pants it was from a plus size catalog but they did have a nice pockets – but I would get four or five pair for the price that place has!Mithridites wrote: »FatAFNoMore wrote: »I was told that women's pants don't have pockets because it would bulk up the look of the pants. But it lasts forever! We'd buy their henley shirts for my stepdad. He was homebound and essentially bedridden for the last couple years of his life. We loved those shirts because they didn't stain and they never stretched out, even with all the people transferring him from his bed to his wheelchair to his chair, bed changes and all the other fun that comes with home hospice care. Duluth's stuff is pretty much indestructible!10 -
I have lost a lot of weight and I still got alot more to go. I lost a lot of fat from booty, the trunk is empty of junk if you like. Anyway because of this I can no longer sit on hard spots for more than a few moments before my butt starts hurting.9

They probably also think well women have handbags. Personally I loath loath loath handbags. Only use them if there is a specific reason for them. So I like pockets. I also prefer inner pockets in coats/jackets, but it seems those designer dudes always think only men can have them.11 -
That hubby and I would end up having trouble telling our jeans apart. Many is the morning when either of us starts out putting on the wrong person's pants. (He outweighs me by close to 50lbs, but it's just the way our respective bodies are put together - our jeans look pretty similar when folding laundry.) The struggle is real!20

That is cute!4 -
I like mirrors and taking pictures now. I've lost 139lbs and I've got 21 lbs to go. I've went from a 48 inch waist to a 36 inch waist. I love being able to watch the changes my body is going through. Every month there's a new muscle or bone that wasn't there the month before.

Oh no remember fashion handbags are the size of envelopes. Can't have any carry capacity apparently.6 -
That swimming gets harder, not easier. Because I don't flippin' well float anymore.
(If I fill my lungs to bursting I can just about keep my nose out of the water. I'm still 16 stone, with plenty of bodyfat; I was not expecting this and I do not like it!)
RIGHT?!?! I hadn't gone swimming in so long, hubby and I went recently and down I went, just like a rock!! I never needed the flotation belt in Aquasize; now it's a must!! I don't like it either. Fitting into smaller, prettier bathing suits, however. . .15 -
I never realised how much the extra padding muffled the sound of my stomach!! I can hear it gurgling when my food is digesting, I thought it was my imagination at first. But my hubby and kids have commented how loud it sounds...will have to put up with it or grab a cushion to muffle it now.20

You don't float as easily when swimming.11

Always being cold. I've dealt with this most of my life, but after losing over 50 lbs of extra fluffy insulation, I found myself wearing a hoodie in August.13

That you hate buying cute clothes.... because you know you won't be able to keep them!
HAHA it hasn't stopped me except for buying bras, lesson learned. I've been buying some smaller size clothes with stretchy fabric, that can still fit but a bit snug. I just cannot pass up a good sale when I see it. I'm a bargain shopper and very picky with my style and fashion. If I wait to buy especially from places like Nordstrom Rack, Marshalls, Ross, Neiman Marcus Outlet or Sacks Fifth Ave outlet stores, I might never see the same style in the size I want again or it may be too expensive. I guess I've been sort of stocking up for later but only if it's a really, really good discount.
What I'm not happy about is all the clothes I had purchased in the past that were too small and still have tags. Well I've lost so much weight and now they are all big and I never had the chance to wear them at all. So yeah I think my Christmas shopping is pretty much done6 -
I could live with this side effect. I'm hoping for it, actually. I live in Texas. It's HOT (90F/30 something C) over half the year, and I'm miserable. If I could get to where I don't dread summer every year and can wear sweaters in the winter (outside might be chilly, but inside is too warm for sweaters, even very light ones) I'd be over the moon.
Even if it meant wearing a hoodie in August, though if it's a 110 F outside, I don't think I'll need a hoodie.8 -

Interesting.
Pockets in skirts and dresses are definitely a thing now. I have some fancy dresses with pockets...which I don't understand at all. What would I put in there? Anything more than a tissue of stick of gum would weigh down the skirt or be a visible bulge...why would I pay big $ (for me, anyway) for a dress to lay a certain way and then put a big cell phone or wallet in there? And there's no closure, so I couldn't feel comfortable leaving just my id or a single key in there. Maybe it's something to do with where to put your hands if you feel awkward? I don't get it.
Then again, I prefer most pants wo pockets too...I don't like bulgy parts, whether my own bulgy bits or the extra fabric I can never properly iron flat or the wallet/phone sticking out. Ice always preferred form fitting clothes, even when a bit heavier, though.8 -
That people will assume you had surgery to do it even if you didn’t. I’ve lost a little over 60 pounds since February and people have suggested I had surgery. I didn’t. It’s been strictly diet and exercise and I have a cheat meal here and there. I still eat what I want to I just count the calories and try to make better decisions. Also they say boobs and butt are usually the first things to go for women. Well my butt is now gone but my boobs not so much. I wish they would go down some but they are being stubborn. How unsupportive people can accidentally be. When I say I can’t eat that or I shouldn’t the majority of people will encourage you to make a bad decision instead of applauding your good choice.18

How much attention you get from the people around you. I get comments and compliments all day long!
Unsolicited advice, bunk science and the endless questions of how I did it. Eat less, move more. That's it!11 -
That id waste so much money on things like sports bras that dont fit, Because small/extra small cant possibly be big enough for a girl with boobs....right? I have to atleast be medium-nope...Then i end up with floppy ribbed (and more recently shouldered-yay i carried a ton of fat on my arms lol) bras >.>
I know im not medium to but something happens in the store. Reason im there is smaller sports bras....still never go small enough4 -

The less you have to lose the longer it takes. Whoever told me you could lose a pound a week is full of it. Maybe if I starve myself.14
