Down 4.5 lbs from Monday. 2.4 between Tuesday morning and Wednesday Morning. Hell of a week so far.

That I'd become such a lightweight when it comes to booze. Used to be, beer and wine basically did nothing for me. I'd need like a third of a bottle of liquor just to get a buzz. Now, two glasses of wine and I'm done for the night. It's a good thing, I suppose. I save a lot of money this way.
THIS! I recently went out to dinner with my mom and had one (1!!) glass of wine, and was staggering around, room spinning drunk. I was so embarrassed.5 -
That if you have a lot of weight to lose, halfway doesn't seem like that much weight lost at a glance. I only really start realizing how much I've lost when I'm picking up dog food for my rottweiler (50+lb bags) or lifting my kid (40lbs). I still pooh-pooh away comments like "that's a ton of weight, wow!", because I see what's left to lose, not what I've already lost.
"But I still have a long ways to go!"
Brain still not computing that what I've lost is a big deal.24 -

You will lose some friends who see you as a threat! Just let them go.....
like the two who i THOUGHT were my best two! i started this keto/low carb diet because i have stage four cancer. i've never felt better in my life and have gone down 17 lbs since i first got diagnosed. so they can keep drinking and eating their way into oblivion. i feel more clear brain wise, have more energy and even though i'm sick - i've never felt better. my other friends support me on my journey - they are REAL friends!44 -
No one told me i'd keep staring at myself in any reflectice surface i can find! Or that id just lay around for 20 minutes feeling and admiring all my muscles. I also didnt expect to start taking pictures more!
How vain i have become!27 -

Agreed on this one. There’s actually losing the weight then there’s the mental side of your brain recognizing that you lost the weight. Not sure which is more difficult

This is so true! I have also noticed how petty I’ve become about certain features.

No one told me how much more aware of the negative impact of excess weight on daily life I'd be. In my own life, and in other's lives. Not in a judgey-better-than-you way, but in kind of a sad, "I wish you would have this revelation too" sort of way; the way you see someone doing something self-destructive and know you can't say anything and know there's avoidable tragedy going on. It's actually heart-breaking.39

For me, it's getting things out of the wardrobe I haven't been able to wear for a couple of years.
And WANTING to go to the gym instead of feeling like I should.
But I hate people trying to "feed me up" because I'm smaller now. I've realised how many people are feeders!

People used to wait for me to finish going up or down the stairs, like there wouldn't be enough room for both of us.
This! I have never been technically (as in BMI classified) overweight however I'm a naturally polite person so I would often see someone possibly a little larger than me and let them finish their journey on the stairs etc before starting mine.
I LOVE how these forums and focusing on my own weight has opened my eyes to how my actions can be perceived to others. What I thought was a polite thing to do was probably my subconscious making me think 'let them go they may not be as fast etc) and it's wrong!
People come in all shapes and sizes and I've very quickly realised that someone two stone heavier than I am is possibly ten times fitter and healthier!!!
I hate to think my actions could have demotivated or hurt someone's feelings without even realising.
I love how my journey has made me a better and more open minded person and stopped me taking everything at face value or assessing things by warped society standards x38 -

So true! Especially heart-breaking when it’s your husband.15 -

Gotta give a shout-out to the brand that DOES women's pants with pockets. Added to that, the quality of both the service and product is outstanding.

Hmmm weird. Every pair of pants I've ever bought always had pockets lol.0 -
YES! Exactly! Thank you for saying this! I have learned the hard way that everyone's body is different, and their weight-loss will be different, too. Some people don't have to watch what they eat, or exercise, but those people are very few. Most of us HAVE to work out AND eat as healthy as possible!brightresolve wrote: »How much it annoys me when someone says, "oh, you don't have to watch what you eat!" or, "oh, you don't have to work out!"
I feel like they're disrespecting the discipline and hard work it takes to be healthy ...

This has to be the BEST thread I've ever seen. You guys have brought up things that inspire, regardless of whether they are good or "bad". I have read almost every post and learned a thing or two, most of them with a smile and a cringe of empathy but either way I look forward to it because it means I am succeeding, where I never have before. Thank you, whole heartedly and please, please keep this thread alive!18

That you will want to wear bright colors! I used to want to wear anything to avoid being noticed. Now I WANT to be noticed!23

So much this with my husband, who is T2D and more than 100 pounds overweight. Every time I watch him overeat, I feel this way. And scared, because with his Type A personality, family history, T2D, and high stress career, he is a waliking heartattack waiting to happen. I'm scared to lose him, but he is not ready to do anything about his weight.17 -
