Weighing after going to the bathroom- what does this mean to you?

Whatever business I can get done before I need to get on with my day is what gets done!2

I weight first thing then 98% of the time it is just peeing then I weight again to compute output which runs one quart/liter on average. As a guy I know all is well as long it it around 2 pounds to 1 kilogram after 6-8 hours without waking during the night.0

I generally just pee, then weigh, then coffee and orange, then poo, then dress.
I have had the opportunity a couple of times to need the poo before the coffee, so yeah, I weighed myself then as well.
The outcome was about .2 of a lbs difference each time. It kind of amazed me that a poop weighed so little.
I really wouldn't worry about it.
Cheers, h.
I should add, these weren't little poops either.
Maybe your poos only weigh .2 pounds..... But if you only go 1 maybe twice a week ....
Oh most definitely. More kids waiting to jump in the pool after a couple of days.
(That's why I explained my routine.)
Cheers, h.0 -
I just weigh after the first bathroom visit of the morning. Since moving into maintenance, I started using Happy Scale, which is an app that gives you a trend line of all your previous weights, as well as an average. If daily weight fluctuations bother you, then I'd highly recommend it.2

I use Libra and Trendweight. But this toileting business and erractic weighing in has thrown off my graph, which is all higgelty piggelty now.
But the pressure to evacuate on command and on time has now been lifted, so back to daily weighing for me2 -
I do whatever is in the queue. Then I weigh. Every day.1

You've all got me interested now. I've have to weigh after nature's call and learn how much a poo weighs.
In my experience, I can nearly always count on it to be a difference of 4oz.
Now, I might wonder what other people's averages are..0 -
Whatevs, then weigh. Been doing it for like a decade, and recording it, even before trying to lose weight. It averages out, and the fluctuations are informative.
My view is that we don't have a "true weight", just a semi-current range, and a longer term trend (up, down, level).6 -

For years, i have gone to the loo, both #1 and #2 while the kettle is boiling for my first cup of coffee of the day, after which i weigh myself. On the odd occasion that i didn't "go" that morning i wouldn't bother weighing that day.
The last few months my bathroom habits have changed. Now i don't poop for hours after I've woken up, after which i have eaten and drunk, so my whole routine is messed up.
To those of you who weigh after "going to the bathroom", do you mean just peeing, or both? Is weighing with the previous days food still sitting inside you a valid weight number? Won't you weigh a couple pounds heavier before "getting rid of it" ?
As mentioned i have had the same routine for years, and the sudden change is bugging me! I guess i just prefer to be as empty as possible before stepping on the scale.
I've been in your situation. I just kept weighing daily after getting up and a wee. I noticed maybe a 100-200 gram average weight gain. Not a worry at all.
If you weigh in the same way daily no matter what, the highs and lows even out with respect to the poo, just like they do with your water weight fluctuations, and the more data the better.
My data obsession laments at all the data points you've lost these past few months!
You have no idea how those missing days are bugging the cr*p out of me
As of tomorrow morning I'm weighing first thing no matter what (or does not) happens
I find stress makes it worse. Or rushing around. On the rare days I can wake up and lie in bed for a while, I find #2 just happens.... Other days it's not until later.
But, I've wondered the same thing as you - my my habits are inconsistent, but I've decided to weigh and use the numbers regardless of what happens.0 -
I go regular 1's and 2's on awakening, then weigh. It would bug the HELL out of me if I stopped doing 2's before my morning shower!
And if I skip the 2 for some reason, I feel a bit ripped off on the scales. Even though I have weighed a few times pre and post 2 and sometimes I have GAINED! Now I just weigh post.0 -
I never poop first thing so it's always been after peeing only.0

Disturbing topic-really.5

I weigh after my first bathroom visit, whatever that may be.
I have, out of curiosity weighed before a #2 visit and again after on a few occasions (like maybe half a dozen in the past 2 years) ... and although we'd love to think that it would make a couple pounds of difference, the most I've seen was about 300 grams (approx. 0.6 of a lb). Really doesn't make much difference at all.

I get out of bed, go #1, weigh, EVERY MORNING. Regardless of #2 - because who knows when that might happen...LOL1
-
Normally I get up and dehydrate immediately.
By the time I've processed through my various moving about tasks(clothes, breakfast, etc) I'm ready to Defecate.
After that I hop on the scale. If it's a slow morning and unproductive, I'll weight before I eat/take my vitamins.1 -
I find that I am somewhat regular (due to the amount fo fiber that I make sure to get every day) and weigh myself after I #2. I find - and I am a 50yo male that is is 6'0' @ 205lbs - that I am 0.6lbs less after after a #2. Pretty dang consistent with that weight, too!2
-
You've not posted on enough parenting forums then6 -
I actually find this quite amusing, as many people don't go every day! It's normal for some folks. I weigh myself immediately after waking up every day, and I track the average.2

You are never going to be "as empty as possible" without fasting for a couple of days.1 -
After I lay cable, I see no difference in weight. I guess if you dropped a mega-deuce you might see a difference.2
-
I generally weigh myself every morning, usually after #2 but not always. Sometimes I weigh myself at other times of day, either instead of or in addition to the morning weight. And sometimes I'll go several days and not weigh at all. I basically just step on the scale whenever it suits me.1
-
I weigh myself within 5 minutes of getting up. Sometimes it's after a bathroom visit and other times before. I generally don't worry about waste weight unless I need an accurate weigh-in for the doc, since I'm focusing on long-term trends and tbh taking the waste weight into account has really eased my anxiety over normal fluctuations.1
-
I also do this! I weigh myself the first Saturday of the month after I go both 1 and 2. Saturday bc I sleep in and go to the bathroom as soon as I get up- no breakfast first!1

People are too freaking sensitive (general comment). I mean, this whole "PC World" really ticks me off.
We are all adults. We are all talking about a very normal part of the digestive system.
We are ***NOT*** talking about "...the time I was out with the guys, ate way too much food, drank a little too much, woke up the next day and holy cow!...." That would be TMI.
The question is legit. We all assume way too much. So, she asked 'what exactly does that mean'? Totally legit question. If she is asking, then I am sure that others wonder "Does that mean this or that?". Now we all know.
Anyway, just my opinion. And experience. Yes, people, everyone poops! Get over it.7 -
I wish I was that regular...
I just weigh in after a morning pee. I use Libra to trend my weight loss so the little fluctuations don't bother me too much.2 -
My general routine is pooping followed by weighing in.
I usually have a pretty good idea of whether or not I've got some "extra weight" hanging around in my intestines, or if I maybe am dehydrated compared to other days and how it may affect my weigh in that morning.... so I don't get too worked up about it either way. The important part is seeing the downward trend over time. There's no use getting excited or upset over a 2 lb loss/gain from one day to the next.0 -
I weigh after my first bathroom visit whatever that may be.
