I don't know if anyone has said this yet but 2500 is actually pretty low for your weight. Please remember that when you are very heavy it makes you burn a crap tonne of calories and to keep that weight up you would be eating way more than 2500 per day. Don't start too low other wise you will end up starving yourself, which you definitely do not need to do. Even at 3000 cals per day I would say you would lose 2 or more kgs per week with even the smallest little walk per day (even just around your back yard). I weigh 324lbs and I was losing on 2500 cals and lost 30kg or about 50 lbs and I am now losing on 2200 cals. Make sure you do this healthily. Losing weight is important, but (I know this is hard to hear) it is not as important as your health. I started by starving myself and not only did I end up gaining it all back plus more, I got symptoms of anorexia before I even got skinny enough for people to know something was wrong. I had an extremely slow heart beat, lost alot of hair, lost my menstrual cycle... it was just horrible. You want to lose weight to be healthier and have a better quality of life. Not starve yourself trying to get "healthy" and then die anyway. You are so brave already for trying to change, be a little bit braver by doing this the right way, no shortcuts. You got this! I think it is possible.
September 2016 I weighed 522lbs, this morning I weighed 396lbs. Clearly, I have a long long way to go but I have managed to lose over 100lbs in a year and I am confident that if I had actually been a bit more disciplined I could have lost 150lbs, and If I had been hardcore disciplined I could have lost 200.
I question myself every day, thinking I will never get there and in reality, I probably won't. I still get insulted by strangers on the street or even worse helpful strangers who come up and say "you need to start walking and stop eating McDonald's every day" when the arsshole dosen't know I haven't had McDonald's in months and I work out every day, because a 400lbs man dosent look much different than a 500lb man unless we stand side by side.
But everything being equal I feel a lot happier and healthier as 400lb than 500lb and when I'm feeling depressed I can look at the 16 extra holes In my belt.
I know I'm in no position to give advice but these are a few tips I have followed:
1. Coke to Coke Zero, and pour a glass rather than carry a bottle.
2. Buy a bar of chocolate rather than a block. And don’t kid yourself by saying you will eat some now and save the rest.
3. Same goes for chippies get a 50g bag, not a 150g bag, sure it's not economical but just do it. If your eating things like chippies from a big bag, get a bowl and take them from the kitchen don’t bring the big bag.
4. If you don’t like vegies put them in a stir-fry or a sandwich, start with just a few then add more. Don't go crazy and say no dressing because a little dressing on some salad is better than a little ketchup on some fries.
5. If you buy some healthy snacks and fruit at the start of your workday then you won't have an excuse to go buy a cake or something at morning tea.
6. If you want to eat a bunch of junk food then do it once a week while your favorite tv show is on, not every day.
7. Find some exercise you like, I hate treadmills and exercise bikes but I enjoy weightlifting and boxing.
8. People at the Gym don’t judge you and if they do they don’t do it to your face. Once you become a regular and they see you working hard/losing weight they will support you. Gyms are for fat people!

If your feeling tired a lot and falling asleep when you shouldn't then go see your doctor about sleep apnea because I have it and getting it treated is the most amazing feeling in the world. Getting real sleep feels like losing 300lb, It was like I was living in the desert and I found the water. The mask kinda sucks and maybe if you live in a country like America it could be expensive but it’s the greatest feeling ever. Actually, if you have sleep apnea, then getting it fixed will do far more for you than any diet or exercise, and you will be a lot more motivated to work out if you're awake.

Tell me about it. I wake up sometimes gasping for a breath i got to see a doctor on the 15th and i believe that is what it is about but I'm not 100% sure. Its eather that or a pain specialist i googled the doctor and he works in both fields so ill find out i spot.0 -

If you have sleep apnea then get it sorted, it was ruining my life. I was falling asleep everywhere, including at work which almost got me fired. And I had zero energy which making me put on more weight which made the problem worse.
The treatment kind of sucks, I don't like the mask and it dehydrated me but the reward is amazing. If all you do is get that sorted and start walking your dog. I bet you lose 30-40lb by default.
My doctors were the same, "you have sleep apnea... Well ok then". Because around here it's a long process to get in for a sleep study, but once you have one you get a machine right away. And then it's like the veil has been lifted and you are alive again.
I'm in New Zealand and it's all free but I don't know what this type of thing costs for Americans.
Also a good note, skinny sleep apnea people probably have It for life. But us fat guys can lose it if we lose the weight. Mine has got alot better after just losing 50ish kg. Although now I can't fall asleep without the stupid machine lol.12 -

Nothing but mad props for you! Further along in this journey and you will be suddenly looking back and being so grateful you loved yourself enough to set out on it. Being in control of one's health is one of the most empowering things I have ever done in my 53 years and it always makes me so glad to see young folks, like you, doing just that. To be honest that seems awfully low.
When you do get the money I would invest in a food scale to make sure you're accurately weighing your food portions. That's honestly one of the best investments I have made on my path to losing weight.1 -

What kind of medical insurance do you have? (PS -- you don't answer this, it's just a question to get you looking at your insurance coverage) A cpap machine is an expensive piece of equipment ... and so are the face masks, tubes, and silicon seals (plus they have to be maintained daily and replaced periodically) as well as the machine air filters. ... I got mine by paying a monthly rental and after 1 year of monthly payments was the owner of the machine ...1 -

He's in Canada, which means while he doesn't have to pay for the healthcare, the responsiveness absolutely sucks. I'm on the other side of the same country and we have big problems with healthcare here.
Please @bjcrewe push the apnea thing with your doctor. He needs to do more than just acknowledge it. He's probably thinking it's because of your weight and shrugging it off, but you need it dealt with while you are losing. Yeah, it might go away when the weight is gone, but in the interim it is not doing you any good and has the potential to kill you.

I am to heave for a scale i needs to go to the hospital to get my weight. I do have a dog but i dont think he will walk far.

I've have 2 sleep study's done and nothing from the doctors other then telling me i have sleep apnea
If you feel like your sleep isn't very restful or you don't feel really good after a night's sleep, you should pursue this when you can.

I found that knowing my maintenance calories saved a lot of stress for me, personally. My goal is 1860 calories per day. But my maintenance calories (how many calories I need to maintain my current weight) is about 2400 calories. So if I go over my goal and eat 2200 calories, guess what?!? I'm still technically in a deficit and have done zero damage!12 -

that's a good cushion and you've got plenty of room for days like this. i would even say that having 2500 calories is a big deficit. what did the doctors say?1
