Hi I would love to join the group, I just turned 48. I am looking for some help with motivation, I was doing really great up to about three years ago. It seems to get harder and harder with each year to lose weight an to keep it off. I do enjoy exercising and for the most part I do eat healthy. I try to be as positive as I can, my motto make today great as you can.

Good evening kids, I am encouraged after reading your posts regarding me. Thank you so very much. I am often described as stoic and unable to read. That was NOT the case today. I cried like a baby in physical therapy and then another outburst as I took a long walk today. I am glad I got it out. Keep up the good work everyone. Get some lifts in for me.

Powerlifting style back squat tonight, new PR! 70kgs, up from 60 about 4 weeks ago. Super happy. Yes, below parallel, I plan on competing next month. That’s about 154lbs.

try not to get too upset with the now. focus on recovering and think about how much stronger you'll come back.

I only manged 20 min of BBL Sculpt before the coughing kicked in hard, but that's still the first like 20 min of serious strength training in a couple weeks, so I'm calling it a WIN!

I know it doesn't sound like much, but I ran farther than I've ever run today! my trainer/friend told me to run 2.25 mi, walk a little, then run another 2.5. I didn't even feel like walking, so I walked just .05 mi before finishing my run. Tomorrow I'm going to try to run the whole 2.5 without a walk. It'll be challenging because it'll be 15-20 degrees colder. Wish me luck!

Hey kids, hope everyone is well. I took a long walk today and it's really nice outside. I am feeling much better than I was a few days ago. Thanks again for the encouragement. It is appreciated. Have a great day.

@caramelgyrlk Glad you were able to get out for a walk and glad you're feeling better!

I went out this morning intending to run 2.5 miles for the first time. I wound up running 2.75, and I didn't even feel winded or sore! Hard to believe that 2.75 miles is going to be my new normal. When I started running in September, I couldn't run a mile!

So I was supposed to run 2.75 miles again today, but I accidentally ran my own 5k! And my pace was a little faster than it was on yesterday's shorter run.

Now I know I can run a 5k in May! I can spend that time working on my pace.

Hi! I'm 41 and am about a third of the way to my weight loss goal and trying to live a healthier lifestyle long term. Just eating better and knowing that I'm making positive changes is doing wonders for me mentally

Hi everyone! New to this thread but not to MFP. 46, married, 2 kids. Lost 30 lbs 2 years ago with MFP and my Fitbit but took a desk job this past January and have put 20 lbs back on. Went to hubby's holiday party last night and can't fit into any of my dress pants. Working from home on a computer all day in yoga pants has ONE downside; I lost track of how "normal" clothes are fitting me as I gain. Anyway, back here for some accountability and butt-kicking. Starting low carb eating now...would love some other low-carb MFP friends.

    I’m sick AGAIN. Seriously?

Dilemma is this: this week is max the (F) out week. Test new max for deadlifts, bench, front squats. Got a 10kg improvement with back squat last week, now at 70kg. I was REALLY looking forward to retesting my limits.

My coach is in a National level competition next weekend though. I don’t want to be the one to make him sick for the comp he’s been preparing for for the past 4 months. Think I will try to convince my lifting buddy to meet me in my garage...?

    Hi Kids,
Caramel - glad you are starting to feel better.
Beeps - I also need to check in for accountability, since I let a few lbs sneek back on during my training break.
Quikdogs - Great perseverance through illness.
Gam3rguy - as always, a well oiled machine!

Nice to see some new runners in the group. Welcome. I've maintained basic run fitness by doing about 12-15mpw during the month long break. I've also been enjoying a high intensity spin class as a way to maintain cycling fitness. Heading into December, the remodeled basement "pain cave" will be ready soon, so I can resume regular indoor trainer rides at home.

I'm now lobbying to convince my wife that the remodel won't be complete without a new Felt triathlon bike. So far, she is unmoved. ;)

    Stay cool.
