First real, hour-plus, outdoor run since the medication debacle. It was glorious. Perfect weather, nice and sunny, and it just felt so good to be back out there.

I knew I shouldn't have waited until December 3rd to look at this thread - page 10 already?!
Guess I'll be busy catching up for the rest of the evening
My goal for December will be 160km.
With a short run yersterday and a longer one today, 26.7 km of those are already logged.
The weather was perfect for running this weekend! Thursday we had gotten a bit of snow, which thawed on Friday, but since then it's been cold and sunny. All the mud turned into ice

@rheddmobile great job to you and your husband on your 5k. Sounds like you had a great time and what a great race to benefit the kids and have them come out and cheer. Awesome. Yeah, some races are like that with a huge proportion of walkers who don't care about staying out of the way of runners. And amazing job on your weight loss, that's very impressive.
@BruinsGal_91, I'm so sorry for the loss of your mom. It's so very hard. I'm glad you were able to spend some time with your family.

December goal = 93 miles
An absolutely gorgeous unseasonably warm day here. I took my girl Stella out for a long hike this morning and then met up with a couple of friends for an early afternoon run. So nice not to have to bundle up! I'm glad to be ahead of my 3 mile a day average goal so far, hopefully that will continue for another week or so before I have to travel and a few other schedule challenges come up.
Edit: Oh, did you notice I changed my profile pic? For whoever it was who was confusing me and @ddmom0811 - @greenolivetree I think it was

Hard to figure my goal for the month... I just started running 5k, and now my trainer wants me to inch up another half mile. So I'll go with 80 miles. It may be low, it may be high.. we'll see.
Today was great. My 11 year old, 8 year old, & husband ran 5k with me. My 8 year old didn't think he could finish, but he did! And my husband had never run 3 miles without stopping to walk before. It's fun to run with my kids, as they inspired me to start running (11 year old runs cross country, 8 year old will next year).

Just 1/2 marathon at "comfortable" pace for today. The weather was GREAT. IN the low very 50'sF with no UV or humidity. Only had about 2 hours to spare, so that is what I did. Even did a couple hill repeats, which got me the over 1000 foot of elevation.
Still find it amazing that I just go out and run a 1/2 marathon cause it is sunny. Something is seriously wrong with me.5 -

I started December with 2 rest days but today was my Sunday long run. I always prefer the 1st to be on Sunday so I don't feel like I'm behind even though it all evens out in the end. So far my longest run has been 8.5 but I decided yesterday that I was going to go for 9 today. The weather was nice. It felt a little warmer than the temp showed, but there was also a breeze so it was pleasant. Besides, I'm a Texas girl and I really prefer a little warm to too cold. It was one of those great runs where I just let my mind wander and ran. I was really happy when I hit 9 miles, but I wasn't struggling to get there. Maybe I can run a HM this spring.

@rheddmobile Great placement on your 5k! It sounds like it was a little frustrating but still a great time. So far all the races I have done have been pretty small. A large crowd like that might be intimidating.

@SusanDSME That's great that your family did the 5K together--it is so much fun when they start doing races with you. And then they start beating you!
Did a slow recovery trail run with my 9 year old before heading off to celebrate his birthday (a bit late!) at the pool. Still sore from the hills yesterday, but did some stretching and PT and ate lots of fruits and veggies.
Goals this month: 90 miles, maintain weight, PT and yoga, add one day of weights per week, register for spring marathon or ultra,

So I never checked in earlier in the month to set a November goal, but I'm going to update everyone anyway.
For some background, October was the first time I had ever set a monthly mileage goal -- and I want to thank the MFP community for all the motivation! I ran 60 miles in October, which is basically unheard of for someone like me. I used to be out of breath after running only a 1/3 of a mile.
For november, I focused less on the amount of mileage I clocked every day and more on speed and pacing.
I shaved a minute off my 5K time and ran 33 miles this month. I also ran a 9:33 mile, also a big deal for me because I was running 14-minute miles and 12-12:30-minute miles in Sept/October. A lot of time this month was spent on the track and random fartlet training on the trails.
I would say the most fun I had on a run this month was last weekend when I was visiting my husband's family in the small town he grew up. The town has 200 people and is tiny!
That said, I put on my running shoes one morning with the goal of running every stretch of road that exists in that town, rather than set a specific mileage. I had never really taken the time to tour the entire town anyway, haha.
Turns out, it was only 4.3 miles, but it was still a nice feat and I certainly felt a sense of accomplishment because I didn't take any breaks.
In returning to running on Sept. 5 for the first time in years, my biggest challenge has been pushing myself past that first mile without questioning whether I can continue on. I usually take a 30-second break after my first mile.
I think I found a solution. I mapped out (on MapMyRun) a 2.4-mile loop near my house and am making a point to run it at least every other day -- and the only rule is I can't stop until I make it home. I think it's helped me break through this mental barrier I've been struggling with from day one.

Wow! I only joined in November, I must have missed the first telling.
Being a diabetic and being a runner have this in common, you have to become much more aware of how your body uses fuel.0 -
I'll join the challenge for 100 km, and I'll divide cross country skiing kilometers by 2. December will be a challenge but isn't this a challenge? As a comment to earlier discussion, I love the term adult onset runner. Much nicer to be that than have adult onset diabetes.

I set out today knowing I wanted 11.2 km and having no idea where I was going to run to find them. So I ran hither and yon about my neighbourhood with the vague goal that I would try not to cross my own path at any point. Did fine with that until I got to 10km and was 0.5 km from home so I just doubled back along "Christmas" street for an extra half lap and then done.

@rheddmobile ugh! I hate when people are not honest about their time or plan, even worse they take up the whole width of the course. I’ve been known to do an excuse me and I push them aside. What an honor to run through the hospital and high five the kids. How emotional that would be. Fantastic AG finish.

@eponine1984 Go for the half! You've got plenty of time to train. Hal Higdon's Novice 1 plan calls for a base of 10-12 miles a week at the start of training.

@rheddmobile great race!@sarahthes - The Edmonton ice story reminds me of the year I was in 7th grade in Lincoln, Nebraska. We had ice all winter long, and I walked a mile and a half to and from school. I started out falling down a lot, but by the end of the winter I was pretty sure-footed on ice; that trait has lasted till now, and no doubt helped me learn to run on ice at age 57 or so.
See I grew up just outside Vancouver, BC so we practically never even had snow, let alone ice. I've noticed I'm getting more sure-footed the more I go out, though. Today the worst spot was right in front of my neighbour's place. Guess they haven't taken advantage of the sand the condo board put out.

It's all a matter of context- 10 miles of trail can be fun+ if it's high level tech and you're used to the distance. I find basically anything under 50k can be classified as a fun run if the tech is good enough to entertain (lousy trails needs not apply )

It's just like what @JessicaMcB said, it's a matter of perspective. Even though my 9.6 miles today was a "training run" it was definitely fun. Trail is amazing..... Even my October race was fun, and that was a bit longer than 10 miles

For doing a running streak, I sure don't have many miles! 3.5, lol.
But that's because of the busy end of November and then the weekend of cycling. Should be getting some miles in this weekend. And... I'm traveling in December so will be running and not cycling. Can't wait to get some miles in!
