Unexpected results of weight loss

I didn't need the seat belt extension when I flew on an airline. That was always so embarrasing asking for one.21

I hope you don't mind that I'm bumping this! I'm BRAND new to the MFP community. First post!
I'm finally focused on getting healthier again. Back in 2008ish I had lost about 60 lbs (but ended up gaining it back over the years). Never before had I been a thin person, and I remember my knees actually bruising from sleeping on my side! I also caught my reflection in a window while wearing a sleeveless shirt and I didn't believe it was me because YOU COULD SEE MY MUSCLES! I remember distinctly, it was almost overnight during that weightloss that guys started to notice me and hit on me. I was always very friendly and had to learn to tone it down!
My theater professor was talking about typecasting and pointed in my direction as an example for cinderella. I turned around looking for her example and was confused for a minute, then realized she was talking about ME! Another time I was out on a first date (I still had low expectations) and I asked the guy (I know, I know) if he had always been into bigger women. He looked at me super confused and said "Uhh... I'm not into bigger women."
I'M SO EXCITED TO SEE THESE CHANGES AGAIN!!!29 -
I've always found this to be an inspiring thread so I'm going to give it an unashamed bump!12

I don't like wearing tank tops under shirts anymore. I used to HAVE to wear the tightest possible tank top under any shirt for me to feel comfortable leaving the house.
Now, the top shirt clings to the tank top and it just looks odd.6 -

That's a beautiful way of describing it.2 -
I just noticed that my very dry skin is not so intensely dry as it used to be.
For years I have had to use all kinds of creams in winter as specifically my shins become very painful with dry cold weather. Keeping all moisture locked in using hard high fat core body cream was the only way to keep it OK. My skin would flake as if it was snowing when I did not.
I am goal weight and in maintenance. My winterskin this year seems to be so much better and less flaky as compared to the last 10 years. It is amazing and quite frankly liberating not to have to worry daily about have I moisturised enough.8 -
I don't hate my reflection.
I can walk up stairs and talk at the same time!
Women look at me and make comments.
The size of my clothes contain no X anymore.19 -

Also, I am A LOT more protective of my mental happy space. I am okay with saying no to events that I know will cause me anxiety and stress (which might lead to binge eating). I've got to protect me, even if others don't understand, or aren't happy with my choice.
you are a wise person4 -
shrinking fat pad...6

- I have collar bones!
- I am cold all the time even in summer
- My shoes are now all too wide
- I can cross my legs
- My bust line looks like a bust line rather than the top roll
- I fit anywhere I want to sit now (car, booth, theater seats, airline seats, etc.)
- I still have arthritis, was told it will never go away, but these days I am 99% pain free
- Being able to shop at "regular stores-yes I know I shouldn't have been surprised at this one but after decades of the "big girl shops" and even being too big for the plus size department in most stores, this is a biggie!
I realise I'm quoting a nearly three-year-old post but ^^^THIS^^^ for sure! My boobs were, paradoxically, simultaneously pushed up like items on a (fat) shelf AND saggier looking than they currently are. They were definitely the top roll on me too, as everything about them was dictated by the fat around them rather than by their anatomical purpose. One wonders why bother wearing a bra on 'just' the top roll. Inconsistent?5 -
having to wear a belt all the time! i am so not used to that...my pants never used to annoyingly slip downduring the day due to lots of booty/tummy holding them up.6
-
Being able to paint my toenails without holding my breath.
Getting up from sitting on the floor like it's no big deal. Before, it was quite the effort. Now I'm just like, up and done, boom.9 -
Is it possible that the skin tags on my neck are actually disappearing? Is that a thing? I'm not sure because I had one kind of big one that I actively removed, and maybe ever since the distractingly large one has been gone I just haven't noticed the other smaller ones. But maybe they're also shrinking?????10

My hip bones are really sticking out. I feel them when I'm lying down and honestly, it can be annoying. I didn't expect for my hip bones to be sticking out this much especially since I still have so much thigh and butt fat to lose.4

My bras are suddenly too big!8

Mine are starting to get there, I noticed the other day how they felt a lot roomier than they usually are.1 -

Regular skin tags, I haven't heard that. Xanthelasmas/xanthomas, maybe so.

100% agree with how long it takes for the brain to catch up to the body.
I'm also constantly cold.
My bras got WAY too big but I had a nice doctor fix that for me!
All my rings are too big - the very first place I started noticing the lost weight was in my hands.
The real surprise was that my shoe size also got smaller. I was a US 9 now I'm an 8 or 8.5.8 -
I had lost 65 pounds, unfortunately I've gained 20 and am working on getting that back off. Thats one thing that has been a surprise for me, how much I hold myself accountable. When I was heavy I didnt mind gaining, didnt even notice it. Now I immediately see it. I love that because I'm self aware. I wish I had that no rubbing thighs problem, but Ive always had thick thighs so even at 100 lbs I would chafe4

For some reason it would not post my whole comment. I went on to say that I too was very surprised by losing weight in my feet! I didn't know that could happen..Im down 2 sizes!! And Idk if anyone else has experienced this, but I look taller now too!! Guess it is where I'm proportioned correctly now, idk but I'm not complaining Lol! And lastly, I was surprised by how much I love myself. I catch my reflection and turn every which way admiring myself. I think, dang I look GOOD10

Just an FYI for you or others: When you add a emoji other than those in the toolbar above the reply box, MFP tends to delete everything that followed the emoji.10 -
My teeth and gums are healthier and seem to stay clean. I've heard of a connection between gums health and heart health. Hmm.10

My collar bone actually gave me the heebie jeebies for a long time. I’m always cold. One of my best nsv so far has been to sit in a chair and not squish out the sides. And how my veins in my arms and hands got bigger. My feet got smaller. The day I could fully zip my knee high boots I burst into tears.18

Having so much energy!!!6

My brain still hasn't caught up. LOL. My physical therapist handed me a pair of shorts to wear and asked, "Think a medium will be too big? Let's get you a small, just in case."
I have never in my life EVER worn a small. I prepared myself for the walk of shame to go out there and say they didn't fit when, holy moly! They. Actually. Fit. Of course, explaining my excited squeals was a bit more difficult to explain.23 -
Loose skin. Yeah I know I completely should have expected it (FYI currently down 40 pounds out of 60 or so) but just didn't. Last time I lost weight I didn't have any but then I had less to lose and was 9 years younger. Again, should have seen it coming, simply did not. Sigh. But obviously better than the alternative (i.e., not having lost the 40).7

Now that I'm significantly smaller, getting comfortable in bed is so HARD! I toss and turn all night.7
