Snorkeling was amazing. Like swimming in a fish tank. Bonus. We saw a humpback whale. Very close, too.
Now I want to Scuba. For another trip.

Home now, after waking up at 3am, leaving at 4 am from middle son and DILs apartment to head to PDX. Youngest nuke son had a 6:30am flight tko Atlanta, then on to Charleston. It was nice having him home from 16th to 26th, then stayed at middle son's from 26th to today. They have two dogs, that jumped all over, on the couch, on you, licking your ears, up your nose! Husband, younger son and I have never grown up with dogs so it was quite an experience! They also do not have cable, or a radio. Husband and I are used to being informed with local news, local paper and the like. We both adapted and adjusted. Love our son and DIL, but she is not a cook, nor a helper. I was making scrambled eggs and using some ham I found, served on paper plates.... * long sigh*.
Miss my eldest son, can't call him or write him. Until he writes first with his on base Addy.
Christmas stuff down, looking at my minimalist looking home and breathing long and deep!
Love you guys, hoping nothing but the best for each and every one of you! Type to you next year!

Not sure what PDX is,but that was sure an early start! I agree, the young generation does it their way,but so did we.....
DD asked if I was making cabbage rolls tomorrow........no & nothing else either. DH has out patient surgery Wed & I like to clear the decks before & left overs are not in the plan. Cooking for 7 ppl no longer interests me......
kind of “been there/done that”.Just having what we want, when we want works for us.Sounding selfish here
Grandaughter saw 4” of snow starting just after she arrived from
Fl.Grpa asked what she thought if it,”very pretty,but I’m over it”.LOL,
She tells it like she sees it.......her Mama’s DD.
Hope your son is doing well.We never get over that worry. Our Marine Grson leaves for SC Thursday.A 12 hr drive.
Our decorations went back in hiding a day or two early.Needed to do a good cleaning & the less to look at,the better.

I read that she really wanted to finish it, but couldn't manage it. The books have been part of my life for a very long time.
The lasagne was delicious, though a bit liquid. I prefer that to solid though.

One time Heather, I made lasagna, and was so proud that I got so many layers in the pan! I used a spatula patting down each layer. * Note to self* if you pat the layers down too vigorously, your lasagna is PURE pasta, which mine was! I patted the sauce from each layer!!!! It was one heavy pan!
Hugs!

I now do not use the spatula to pat!6 -
Last day of 2017. This year I kept my weight down but didn't achieve my exercise goals seven of the twelve months. Life seemed to get in the way of my exercise plans and I think I have to be more flexible with my schedule. Also I have to attempt to be more regular with my daily logging of food and exercise. I'm delighted that I've logged into MFP for over 100 days in a row and I'm looking forward to 2018. It's a new year, with new experiences and challenges.
Thank you to everyone who shares ideas and thoughts. I look forward to reading everyday.
Happy New Year

I have a bunch of facial masks and stuff that I bought when I was selling Avon (I was pretty much my best customer!) and I've decided that I need to either use them or get rid of them. I started using one the other night, kind of liked the results! I also need to clean up my space, de-clutter, organize etc. This includes papers from various things that need to be filed or shredded, my craft stuff and the Christmas decorations.
My mother sold Avon for many years, so I've got a cupboard full of Avon stuff that I've been hauling around the world with me. Because we've finally settled in one spot for the moment, I started using or tossing things and I'm slowly whittling it down.
And I'm slowly working on my home office. I have to say that it is starting to look better. There's still a whole lot to do in there but I can actually find some stuff now.
In the main part of the house, everything is pretty good. Once in a while, I feel the need to tidy a cupboard shelf in the kitchen (that need is growing with one of the shelves), or to put everything where it actually belongs in our dressing room (did that the other day), or something, but my home office is the last room in the place that needs help. A couple years ago, I set up the bookshelves and unpacked all the books. So that's a start. Now I need to get in there and try to finish it ... in my spare time!!
One little bit at a time, I suppose.

M - MFP says that I only logged in 364 days. I know I logged in every day. It was really interesting to see the stats for the community. Oh, that's right, there were some days when I didn't close out my diary, like Thanksgiving and Christmas. Maybe that's what they're going by
Happy New Year to all you wonderful ladies. I feel so blessed to have you all in my life. Love you all
That's what mine said too ... I wondered if it were a time zone difference thing.

Thanks for the link to the year in review, Machka. Mine said 366 days. Wonder how I managed that?
I burned 123,303 calories and 1,909,003 steps. My most frequently consumed foods were half and half, coffee, and Spark. This girl is going to have her caffeine, LOL.5 -

Happy New Year, my dear people...
Heather, I identified strongly with Jo March, and it's much of the reason I became a writer, as well. Even had "Genius Burning" posted above my desk at one point! The edition my mother gave me as a child had been bowdlerized, however, and I didn't know Beth died until my teens, when I checked it out if the library to reread. Cried like a baby. The books still have the power to move me.
Cheers, all... To a happy, peaceful and prosperous new year for us all.

There are fireworks going off near our neighborhood and the dogs are terrified. Bessie didn't want to go out and do her business at bedtime and probably won't want to go out in the middle of the night, either.
I am nearly ready to go to bed, so I've posted the new thread for January.

Which he never experienced with me, and hasn't been around since our daughter left home for the Army eight years ago. I remember how it felt, and I see the same look on her face, and same exhaustion. Plus, of course, she's dealing with her husband being half a world away for another four months.
January 2 is a full moon, and apparently a super moon, so it is entirely possible she's PMSing.
I used to be synced to have my periods on full moons, but the last year or so I've been so irregular, it's anyone's guess.

Next door's fireworks started up a minute before midnight. Incredible show and LOUD! Must have cost a fortune!
We enjoyed Big Ben and the London fireworks.
I told DH that my word for 2018 was STRETCH. He thought it was a bit woo-woo, but then came up with a word for himself, which was SAVOUR. I thought that was so lovely and the two words together exactly describe what we hope for for 2018. I am really looking forward to the challenges of this year.
I have 5 lbs to lose to get back to maintenance. I am looking forward to that challenge too. I have decided to do a little extra exercise in the afternoon to add to my morning set. It could be a half hour walk, or a few sets of kettlebell swings if the weather is horrible. That should give me an extra 100 calories and a boost to my metabolism which has got used to my regime, I think, as I'm still keeping to my previous CICO. The extra bit might just give it a little shock.
Much love, Heather UK xxxxxxx5
