This morning had terrible heartburn. Chest so tight could feel my pulse inside my ear canals. Sweating and nausea. Thought I might be having a heart attack. 2 Tums and all's ok. (Hypochondria, gotta luvvit.) Been having more bouts recently, thought it might be GERD but doesn't happen when I lie down, but when I first get up. Could it be a reaction to my morning tea? Ohhh nooooo!
MissKmorgan your picture could be a Christmas Card... but -20??? Yow.
Machka you are always ahead of the leading edge
Lisa 15F in NC, that's nuts! My friend near Tampa Florida reported snow this morning. SMH.
Penny sorry for the many pages delays in my responses, result of my max 20 min / pc session resolution Added Merino wool gloves (liners?) to my Amazon wish list. My hands burn with cold even in this most temperate climate. Thanks!
Beth "... just act stupid" boy do I resemble that remark.
Barbie Just requested Happiness Project from library and picked up Better Next Year on CD. Really getting a lot out of it. Thank You!
Dang, there goes that timer again! Later,
Mindful Hugs to all,

This group is growing so fast. It is 20 here today and that is a heat wave compared to the last weekend. My goal or word for this year is One step at a time. I need to stop and think and not get carried away by stress and things I can't control. DH and are going to do things for us and not try so hard to please the children. They are adults and a couple have been keeping track of what we do, with who, and when. So the first part of December we took a 3 day trip to Roswell New Mexico and had a blast. Neither one of us had ever been to Texas or New Mexico. In April 2 of our grand daughters have national dance in Rochester and we plan to go to that and then take a couple days and go up into Canada as we have not been there and years ago we talked about going. So working on getting pastports. Trying to line up copies of birth records is fun.
Sharon--Sending hugs and prayers.
Meg--Think of you often and keeping you and husband in prayer.
Allie--Haven't seen you post last couple days. Hope things are still going well. Your place and puppy sound great. So sorry to hear about your dad. Keeping you all in prayer.
Well ladies have a good rest of the day. Blessings, Vicki GRAND ISLAND, NE4 -
Hi all,
Sue, hope you didn’t have some water problems because of the cold. I’m sure it is hard when you aren’t use to it.
Barbara, your right girl! Half pound is terrific. Glad your DH is coming around on the computer front. Once he starts having fun with it he will be hooked. That’s wonderful. Never rule out a heart attack. Go on-line for the symtoms.
Wendy, love the picture of you and the pony!
Pamfgil, congrats on the pants fitting better!
((Sharon)), sorry Larry was a pain in the *kitten*. I feel for you. I’m so happy you have someone who will give you a shoulder to lean on. You are correct that you don’t want the kids to see his behavior and think it is ok. We’re here for you girl.
missKmorgan, love the winter picture. Is that your home?
Lisa, I didn’t sleep well last night either. DH did not feel well at all. Fortunately he isn’t a complainer when he is sick. Unfortunately he moans. All I heard las night was moaning. AUGGHH! Hopefully tonight will be better. Maybe you should put a hat and scarf on. LOL
Evelyn, 2.4 lbs!!! Woo Hoo!
Lanette, I understand how your husband feels. A house is so much work. I’ve been talking to DH about maybe getting into a town house when we retire as it would be less work. He doesn’t want to be that close to other people. He has a point as we’ve lived in a condo and you do feel like you have right on top of people. I think the high school students helping is a good idea. I’m waiting for the neighbor’s boys to get old enough to mow our lawn. Probably one more year.
Marykpfist, welcome. Do you go by Mary? Congrats on maintaining during December!
Joyce, YEAH the boot is off!
Krankiesgirl21, keep us posted about the hip replacement. I get where you are coming from about an excuse to stay home. It’s a good time of year to be house bound.
Sun_cat, welcome. We don’t mind it you only post once in a while. Jump in when you can. Tell us a little bit about yourself and what you want to be called.
NYKaren, I’d say I hope you get your snow day but that would mean I’ll probably get snow here in Vt too. Lol
Janet, good luck on the challenge. Hope you win.
Michele, Evening is my hardest time too. I always plan a snack for that time. But try to not eat after 8pm.
Becca, what a positive change for your DH.
Kelley, so happy you were able to meet up with some of the MFP ladies. Great picture. I’m sure you had a great time. If anyone gets up to the VT area, let me know as I’d love to meet up with any of you.
We are having a heat wave as it is 22 (-6c) today. I heard too that we will be getting a storm. Not sure when it is supposed to hit us.
January goals will be drink more water and add exercise. Sound be able to do that.
Hugs to all, Terry

Despite running the pool all night we got a cracked pipe. Just dripping right now and since it’s going to freeze another two nights we will wait until this weekend to fix it unless it flat-out bursts. It was 36 last night and today has gotten up to 35. Saturday we expect 68. Now that is a crazy temperature swing!

I'm a 60 year old mother of 3, grandmother of 5+ (significant other has 2 as well); I live in coastal NJ about 40 mins south of NYC (VERY cold this week, and waiting for "Snowmageddon"); love outdoors stuff winter and summer, have a small interior design business and teach yoga part-time. Why I'm here: I've yo-yo'd more times than I can even record at this point, and am dealing with the persistent 20 lbs that I keep re-eating every couple of years!
Looking forward to catching up on all of you, and so glad I found you! I definitely need friends/motivation/a smile in the morning, and this seems to be the place!

Hi All. Back on MFP. I initially lost about 10 pounds tracking back about 6 years ago. I haven't been as diligent the last 3 or 4 years and now I need to lose about 20. Looking for some friends along the journey because I'm a lot better about looking at my feed and going on the boards. I'm 51, live in Denver, have two grown kids and one still a teenager. Looking forward to giving and receiving some motivation.7

Gonna be cold again tonight; no busted pipes (no water yesterday AM. Dripped water in kitchen and kept it running to noon today. Will have to run it again, and sprinkler going out front. I don't think Louis ever turned it off.
One of my plants, a Crown of Thorns, out on my glassed-in porch looked like it fainted. I don't know if it got too cold out there because I watered it when my sister was here; but, watered it again today, it was dry. Hope the soil doesn't freeze. It was blooming when my sister was here.
Finished the bath, so that is totally done. Will have to get the bleach out to work on the grout. Murphy's Oil surprisingly cleaned the shower floor. Found this out when I poured the dirty bucket in there and I could tell it was cleaning it. Scrubbed it and then rinsed it out. I will get into it tomorrow and wash it with clean Murphy's Oil diluted in some water. Fiberglass shower.
Hoping I can sell the Barbie doll clothes, posted it on FB; but, might just end up giving them to Jennifer's niece who has daughters young enough to have one. I will ask her first.
Working on Will's room (as we call the 2nd bedroom). Closet all straightened and my spring and summer tops are hanging in there. Three men's suits; Louis will probably never wear them; but, they are there if he ever needs one. Wedding gown and veil, my winter coats, and some vests, and one long camo hunting jumpsuit. If the weather continues like it has the beginning of the week, Louis might need to take it with him. Sending 5 or 6 'suit hangers' to Will. He would probably use them.
Have enjoyed the pictures and quotes. Stories of what is going on in your lives.
Neurologist has called in one refill at the lowered Lamictal and willl call in on for the Dilantin at the upped dosage, so I will have enought seizure meds to last me until I go in mid-February. Called PsycheMD's office and left a message for him that he did. Guess I will see what the levels are that they took on the 29th.
Can't wait to get my hair cut on the 19th. It is getting a bit too long and won't fluff when I blow-dry it.
Other than that about to take some of my 5:00pm meds ... maybe they won't make me so sleepy tonight, we'll see.

Joaquin - so cute! and I love that you 3 "Texas" gals got together! (I know it's only Kelly's adopted state since Joaquin is there). I recently got together with Cheri when she was here in VA visiting her daughter. She's the bomb.

Barbara - check out "esophageal spasm". I've had it a couple times in the past year or so - it's not chronic. But it is scary!!
Diagnosed it myself from the internet, lol. mayoclinic.org is a good source of information.

Evening Ladies
wow what a day.. a day that right now I am sitting with a cup of tea with baileys in it..
called dads primary care and was able to move his appt up to today, but today was my day to work, so I came in a bit earlier and was gone 2 hrs... dads short term memory loss getting much worse ,more so dementia, he has been off coumidin since last tuesday and he has congestive heart failure that I just sort of found out, and without the coumidin thinning his blood he is having a more difficult time breathing... dont think the drs office will be open tomorrow as we have a whopper of a snowstorm coming out way anywhere from 8-14 inches heavy snow and wind... ughhh
called his surgeon and he will not be seen until the 16th and surgery is tenative for the 24th..meanwhile I am trying to keep my work schedule together so that I have a job..
my poor furry nephew has pneumonia and is on meds and a nebulizer..
today in short has been a HOT MESS.. but this to shall pass.
Lanette~ I am waiting for the potty training and puppy teeth to be over with.. but love Alfie just the same..
I was asked to take down my birdfeeder, as it can attract mice, and there are 2-3 coyotes hanging around right behind us, like about 50 ft away. so I cant enjoy my birds .. oh well..9 -
wildhorsewendy wrote: »Machka, you are a goal setter and achiever like I am. I break them down into daily steps I can take, or action-based goals and i have them pinned up on my wall so I can see them every day. I would feel lost without my targets.
Oh, I have thought of a possible solution to my "too busy to pack a lunch" problem. I will make extra portions for dinner and put it away for lunch the next day. That might work, will trial it.
I don't even know what it would be like not to have a list of goals. Sometimes I think it would be nice to have a day where I don't have anything at all to do ... but then I think I would get bored.
I just can't get myself organised enough to bring a lunch to work every day, so this is what I do instead ...
We go grocery shopping on Sunday evenings, and I buy single serve packets of brown rice, tins of chicken, soups, fruit, and a few other snacks which I know will fit into my calorie limit.
On Monday, I bring it all into work, and re-stock my food drawers. The rice and tins of chicken etc. will keep for some time so I usually get 6 or 7 of them ... a full week's worth, plus a bit just in case I forget to bring my bag of groceries next Monday.
Then each morning, I pop a single serve of frozen veggies and a yogurt into my backpack. So my morning food prep takes me all of about 20 seconds.
And then I make brown rice, chicken and steamed veggies for lunch. Sometimes I'll do soup, chicken and veggies for something different. It's simple, basic, and tastes good to me ... and for me, that's a whole lot easier than making sandwiches or whatever else.

Terry- have you lived in VT all of your life? Just curious is this is some of the coldest weather you've ever experienced. A year ago today we had a low of 10.6F, which is cold for us. Your DH is like mine - can't have other people living too close to him... for THEIR safety, LOL.
I'll be thinking of all you east coast folks getting ready for the "bomb"! Thanks Karen for the new bombogenesis word and for sharing the Olivia pix.
Bombogenesis almost sounds like a fun time = get bombed listening to the rock group Genesis? "Dude, let's go to the bombogenesis next weekend" LOL It's been known to happen. This one doesn't sound like fun. Dig out the extra blankets if you haven't done so already. Praying everyone's electricity stays on!
Kelly - Cathy - SueBDew - you don't look like trolls to me! Sounds like you had a wonderful time with Joaquin as master of ceremonies
Oh Allie, thank you for the update. I'd be having Bailey's with a little tea in it at this point. You and your dad will be in my prayers. (((HUGS)))) How old is Alfie by the way? Rosie had all of her adult teeth by 6 months and now chews on her nylabone all the time. Luckily she wasn't attracted to shoes or furniture while teething. She's finally pretty dependable with her bathroom habits at 10 months. She's sending hugs to Alfie!
Stay warm and safe, dear ones!!

Thanks for the good lunch suggestions Machka. I will ponder them and see what i can come up with for myself. Our office kitchen only has a microwave, fridge and kettle and I don't use microwaves as I believe it kills everything good in your food. So basically I can't cook or heat anything at work. But maybe if I take a couple of bags of ready salad and some tins of salmon to work on Mondays I could always have something to eat...and maybe take fruit and nuts for snacking on. If I shop on Sundays and take it in Mondays...might work. Just got to think and plan ahead!
