Jan 8th already? Quick review of THE PLAN reveals most had slipped my mind. Now its my desktop background
Barbie, thanks will download 10% Happier when I uninstall Mindful Today, and add the Dan Harris books to the monthly list
Michele, thanks for walk.jog.fm. Found the app and will download later. Maybe the $2.99 investment will get me off my butt! Love to buy and read about activities, need to start DOing them. Today's micro action IF I play with Tumble for 10 mins (either in or outside) THEN I get to buy the app.
Lenora balling up the sheet is EXACTLY how Joe does it... Sometimes I can get him to hold corner of fitted sheet, but not always ;}
Almost daylight, time to breakfast, and dress to shoes (Thanks you flybabies!) despite only a page to go.
Mindful and WARM Hugs to all,
Barbara, the Southern Oregon Coastie AHMOD.3 -
Wish I could line dry my clothes. It would save me loads cause I have to use the laundromat. Allergies and desert dust prevent that.
Beautiful day here today. Must get outside and walk more!

Keytone Karen ~ I also like your idea. When I was teaching, I would go outside my door and just stand for a moment.
Cold and Damp here today! People are right outside working on a new sidewalk and measuring my driveway for new concrete. Feel so sorry for folks who are out in this weather. You Northerners will laugh to know that many of the schools are closed here today because there MIGHT be slippery pavements if the MIGHT be precipitation comes. DnL will have to make up 4 days already so they will probably cut out some of their break.
Welcome to all the Newbies!
Gotta go take the Pom out to poot!

Becca: Coffee is health food when consumed in "reasonable" quantities. It isn't a vice unless you load it up with sugar and cream. Sometimes the lack of reasonability is a vice. Been there more than a thousand times. :ohwell:
Pip: Happy 2115! You are a star! Happy birthday to Yogi!
Heather: I have major annoyance with apple these days. I refused the "upgrade" as much as possible. They want elaborate passwords that change frequently. I won't do that, and they deliberately slowed my phone down. They claimed it was for better performance. BS! They wanted to annoy us into buying new phones.
suebdew: If you are the oldest person on the list, congratulations! You are taking an active hand in your own good health, and not enough of people do this. Heather and I are about the same vintage but I don't know about anyone else. :flowerforyou:
Michele: I was taught to put pillow cases on the same was as your Grandma taught you. It works.
Cathy from Alberta: Welcome!
M in Oz: I love your musical playlist for exercising. Great songs!
Barbie: You are a good friend and have a great plan for your wait time while your friend has her medical procedure. :flowerforyou:
Rye: I agree with Janetr. That much overtime work is not good for your health. In my experience, exhaustion often leads to illness. Take care of your health!
Lou in the Burbs: I love your Arthur Ashe quotation. Wise words indeed. I'm going to steal them from your post and add them to my list. I hope you don't mind!
My neighbor has had bad luck with her health this year. She and her guy were going to Mexico for a vacation in September or October but she fell and broke her kneecap so the trip had to be postponed. Now she has broken another bone, and I think this one may be a hip. She seems to have osteoporosis at a terrible level. My heart goes out to her. Since I've broken a bone or two in falls myself, I have a great deal of empathy. I am taking bone density meds and my last bone scan shows increased density. I feel very good about that. We've been neighbors for over 20 years but are friendly acquaintances rather than friends. I can be on the shy side in the friendship department, but I think I'll work up my courage & knock on her door.

Oh Penny - hope you are ok! Please don't go away for too long. I know you have a lot of work on.
I did lose a pound this last week; exactly what MFP predicted, so I am mega pleased with that. It has taken MAJOR dedication.
Bought myself a new yoga/running top to celebrate, using the £10 voucher (added some cash) that I had to work so hard to get off the Internet.
AF days have been going really well too. The AF and Low A beers are a huge help. Also very spicy tomato juice. I don't like sweet drinks.

Hi all,
Cathy, WTG on losing 2 lbs!
Machka, I think your legs are saying “give me a rest”. Class does sounds intense. Don’t think I’d have the energy for something like that. What a busy day you had.
Sharon, Ah the honesty of kids. Glad you had some time with DD and Jheri. I love to color too.
Kate, welcome back. Hope the cough clears up soon.
Judefit18, I think continuing to log is wonderful. Think of the positive not the negative. Weight lose isn’t the only think that counts.
Okie, congrats on the pound and figuring out why you weren’t losing.
Barbie, so nice of you to take your friend for her procedure. Sounds like you did so planning for it. good for you.
Rye, Phew! You are working crazy hours. Don’t forget to take care of yourself before you get sick.
Karen, great suggestions. I’ve been known to hide in the bathroom for a few minutes to get myself centered again.
Lou, sounds like you are planning well. I also must plan. I plan my breakfast and lunch for work the night before.
Barbara, glad to hear you are feeling hopeful. Happy birthday Yogi. Those pics are priceless. How did you get him to stand still to dress him>
Carol, you’re right I did laugh. If we closed for slipper sidewalks kids would never go to school in the winter. lol
Katla, I can remember my mother drinking milk with every meal for her bones. She never broke anything. Kind of ironic that she had bone cancer at the end. Knock on the door. She might like to know that someone is thinking of her.
Penny, don’t stay away too long. We’ll miss you.
Heather, happy dancing for the pound you lost.
Heat wave here today as it is 26 (-3c). DD came home yesterday and she had cut her long hair off up to her ears. Then she had it shaved all around her hairline. On her it looks good. When she doesn’t put her hair up you would never know she shaved it so if she needs to look more professional she can. I was surprised as she has been letting her hair grow for a while now. She said she has been wanting to do it. I love it.
Got my cousin’s bracelet in the mail and should arrive by Wed. Glad that’s out of the way. DD and I are going to exercise together when we get home. Going to finally try the kettlebells.
Well back to work. Terry inVT

Terry - love the jewelry and your creativity. I have not one crafty bone in my body. I can organize you to the nth degree, but I can't craft to save my life.
Loved what you said to Okie! I am like that with plants! I can organize until every pin is in its correct place, but grow a plant? Its either live or die, if you are whimpy you live by the dumper until some person picks ya up!

I'm taking my walking friend to the hospital this morning for a short stay medical procedure. I'll stay til it's over then drive her home. My backpack is packed with snacks, water, and knitting. I have ear buds so I can listen to an audio book while I walk for awhile and an e book to read if I have to sit while I wait.

Barbie, you are a dependable friend. If we lived closer, it would be you in my back pocket as an emergency contract! Hugs!

Add me to same age as you and Heather. My birthday is shortly after Heather's.

I need to kvetch for a second. Nothing to be done, no one needs pay attention but: ARGH.
I worked the Friday and Sat before New Years b/c I had traded a non holiday weekend for the holiday one so my younger co-workers (B&C) could enjoy. I am so nice.
I worked double shifts Tues - thurs b/c D’s sister was in hospital and she was staying home with Mom. I worked double shift Friday b/c B had arranged with me ( weeks ago) so she could go out of town to be with her sister at adoption hearing. I was scheduled (regularly) for Saturday shift. (Sat shift is always a double shift, btw. So that is 7 double shift days in a row.
Last night I get the text from C. He has a fever and will I cover his shift. Couldn’t say no, his fever is down but still above 100.
Double shift means no lunch/dinner and no breaks at all - just a solid 7.5 to 8.5 hours unrelieved. And the pay is really really not good.
I’m tired and wanted to sleep late today. But I have to get going because I have to be st work by 12:30. I will get home about 8:30, take a bath and go to bed.
And next week B’s out on vacation...
When does anyone cover for your shift, something you have planned?? Be nice to your self too!

Penny, we'll miss you terribly but we know we sometimes have to share. I believe I have learned something new every time you post and I LOVE it. Do try to give us a quick hello when you can. (((hugs)))

Barbara, the Southern Oregon , OK OK, I have a thing about textures... I don't know if its because the roof of my mouth is an echo chamber, (my moms quote, because as a baby I screamed high like a banshee, and now sing opera). What I do know is that because I have so much surface area on the roof there, food stays in my mouth longer. This activity drove my dear Mother batty! When I was younger I did smack my lips a bit. I am better.. Haha!

Katla, sometimes neighbors stay acquaintances for a reason. With my dealings with Prudence, I now nod, say HI, but that is it! Maybe going to the senior services and getting a booklet of services she has access to and hang it on her door might be enough.

I am waiting for my friend to have her procedure. I walked for 40 minutes in the drizzle. Now I am back indoors where I will continue listening to my audio book "The Life Changing Magic of not Giving a f***" It's a great book if you can handle the language.
My friend is the one who gave me a ride to and from line dance class in November when Jake was out of town with the car. She's going to do the same thing later this week when Jake goes to Seattle for another medical procedure.

I'm back. I've been away from work for two weeks. I kind of don't remember what I do here anymore.
I will try to catch up on what has been going on in our group, but for now, I'll say that I had a terrific time in Cabo. It was amazing.

Afternoon ladies, I love Karen's suggestions on taking a break when there is no break! I do shoulder circles and adjust my posture, shoulders down and head balanced on spine, this tends to help me stay calm. I also think about where my breathing is coming from, deep from diaphragm, not the chest. Great tips!
I am late to the party and have just discovered canned salmon(!) It reminds me of tunafish, I've dressed it up with yogurt and jalapenos and am eating it on cucumber slices instead of crackers--yummmmm
Am on week 2 of eating from my pantry/freezer with no signs of needing to grocery shop. Of course, I will get eggs and coffee when I run out--those seem to be the two items I run out of no matter. But the challenge I'm doing is to use up leftovers, don't waste food and start wearing down the stocked pantry.

pip Yay mom! Funny, I fold the towels the way my bio mom did, without knowing it, not the way Mama did. Stopped ironing sheets, pillowcases when I moved out. . . and most clothes when I retired 2115 days? Yay YOU! Great idea suiting music to your pace. Is there an internet site you can search for songs based on beat/counts per min?
Katla Sorry for the DD/checked bag emotion. Couragia. How would you and she feel if the airline did loose or damage the things she wanted the children to have? Or is there something else going on with DD? Tears and angst seem a little extreme, especially since you offered to help with shipping cost.
Wendy feeling hopeful "instead of feeling hungover and fat" Yay! Galloping bareback sounds like a real spirit lift for you too!
Evie VI your mother and mine, both working gals, and particular about cleaning. Same result here, dust and clutter piling up.
Becca you are making me hunger for yoghurt! (My fave is Fage, I add my own honey or fruit.) Not letting myself buy any til I've eaten down the freezer a bit. Love your humor... "perfect response" amen Sister!
Rita what IS it with men who can't see dirt in the corners or on the edges of the floor? You're right about not stressing tho', I try to keep a grateful attitude, at least he's doing something... ;}
Heather Olly Murs "Dance with Me Tonight"
Joyce you must be so proud of Ellie! Freezing rain? Keep safe and warm.
Ginger Another good day indeed! Only 295 DVDs? DH has a 5 drawer chest crammed with DVDs, along with 2 or 3 skinny disk holding shelves. THe shelves are in the bedroom but fortunately the chest of drawers is in the mancave section of the garage. It makes him happy and doesn't get in my way sooo..
Rats, snoozed the timer and still have 2 pages to go.
Mindful and WARM Hugs to all,
Barbara, the Southern Oregon Coastie AHMOD.
i did check out a site, don't remember the name, but i didn't like the music and it wasn't my pace even tho it mentioned beats per min. now i just listen to a song and just think if it will b my pace0 -
Welcome back Felicia. Glad you had a good time. Pictures?
Barbie, good for you going for a walk even if it was raining. Hope your friend is doing well.
KarenNY, Good for you eating from your pantry and not having to buy food. I should take a look in mine and see what I can do for meals.

Barbie- "...my father wove a tapestry of obscenity that as far as we know, is still hanging in space over Lake Michigan" quote from the movie A Christmas Story. I raised my kids that swearing was a sign that you couldn't come up with a decent adjective to describe things. I was never a big swearer, until I turned 50. Then, I realized it just feels good sometimes to swear. I don't care much for the f-bomb, but some of the others are pretty fun to let slide off your tongue. If you connect them to some really posh and descriptive adjectives, it can take them to a whole new level. The book I just read, You Are A Badass, has quite a bit of swearing in it; but the author used it in a humorous and down to earth way. It spoke to me!
Felicia- Don't you just love how that vacation sun seems to soak right into your skin and protect you from the winter grays for a while?! Glad you are back! Post some pics if you have any!
Terry, and I guess pretty much everyone on here that is stateside- LOL, I was thinking of responding solely to Terry than realized that everyone in the U.S. is having colder than normal temps, lately. I got a giggle this morning, when our local news team was cheering because today, is the first day since Dec. 23 that the temps have gone above freezing! Whoot! We are having a warm spell at 36*F! This does mean that I can take my kiddos out today; unfortunately I have two with no snowpants and boots! Oh well, the warm spell will continue through Wednesday; then we go back down into the low teens and single digits for a while. The sun is out today and it is just gorgeous!
Penny- Oh my! I will miss you! Busy time of year? Or staying a little more active to ward off the "dark month" blahs?
Terry- Oooops! Forgot to mention that your jewelry is just beautiful!
Lisa- I have been keeping up with your blog, but haven't had time to comment, lately. Just want to tell you that it is one of my high points of my morning; reading about what it new in your life or what your brain is busy mulling over. LOL!
Pip- Yogi is stylin'! I love the little shirt and tie! He looks like he tolerates the accessories pretty well! With the crown and beads he looks like the Mardi Gras King!
Ooops! Gotta fly! One of the kiddos is yelling from the bedroom that she needs to potty! !!! KJ7 -
I will add...
The quilts are in a cedar chest, and we have the towels and washcloths we use on a daily basis in baskets in the bathroom. The blankets are on the beds and stay there year round. Those are all the extra sheets. Two sets for the guest bed and futon and one extra set for the queen sized bed. There are spare comforters folded on the very bottom shelf that I would like to donate, but we still use the pillow shams and matching curtains, and I want to donate them as a set.8 -
Katie Bug - I had to smile when I saw the picture of your linen closet, when I heard people balling up sheets and stuffing in the linen closet, it brought to mind the pictures you shared with us a year ago or so, of all your neatly folded clothes in your dresser drawers. I thot NO WAY does Katiebug do that in her linen closet. I'm very glad you shared the picture.
My linen closet is not that neat but I do have to have all folds facing forward and the towels, hand towels and wash clothes stacked in the same color order, etc.
Janetr OKC5 -
I'm all set for tomorrow now with my downloads! Thank you everyone. I've picked out around nine new tracks, so I have 12 in total. I think my pace must be faster than some people's because I have short legs and a short stride. I do more of a shuffle than a run. Definitely not high impact.
I am looking forward to trying the play list with the new app. C25k. It lowers the volume of the tracks when the "trainer" (actually just a celebrity) is talking and telling you when to run/walk etc. The old app had its own music and a very nice, non celebrity voice and I really liked it, but they discontinued it. Grrrrrrrrrr! You can switch celebrities, but I have chosen a man with a northern accent. Quite like him.
In the morning I am back at yoga for the first time this term. Hooray! Love my group.
My friend has had her chemo and is going to have a port put in under sedation next week. The op is too early for me to get up there by train, so someone else is going with her. The WhatsApp group is working well. I hope I can sit with her soon.
We are trying to arrange a meet up with "the girls" for the spring up in York, but my difficult friend is being a pain.

SPAM.... I received an email in my "My Fitness Pal" email with a link to a "sex video". I've blocked the sender, NOT clicked on the link (of course) and reported it immediately.
Has anyone else had this issue and is it common/something I should worry about?
