I’ve been MIA for the last 6 days trying to recover from the plague in my house! Not really but it felt like it. I kept up with the training mileage but took it as slow as I needed to. I’m actually feeling decent today but running was still extremely slow. I’m hoping I didn’t lose all my speed while I was sick. I still have congested ears and I’m waiting for that moment when they finally ‘pop’ and I can hear normally again!
I’m not sure I can catch up on everything I missed but I’m glad to be back!!

I haven't run since Saturday. I've been fighting a cold which I thought turned into the flu on Tuesday. That night I had major chills and slept all bundled up in sweats, long sleeve shirt, hoodie and wool socks with our electric blanket cranked to 10. Yesterday I felt like horrible all day.
I wake up today and I feel as good as I've felt in 3 weeks! I think I might be able to go for a run tonight!

2/1 - 4 treadmill miles at Trek Class. First three-day streak in ~4 weeks. I'll take it!
2/2 - Rest day. After streak, thought it was a good idea.
2/3 - 5.1 miles outside. Nice!
2/4 - Unplanned rest day - church activities + Super Bowl + sick kid = no workout / run
2/5 - Another unplanned rest day - sick kid is worse. Doctor visit, etc.
2/6 - Kid still sick and I'm feeling pretty lousy too.
2/7 - 4 treadmill miles and a nice upper body weight workout. I feel OK, kid a little better. Thanks for all the good wishes!
2/9- Kid back to Doc as strep test was negative. Influenza Missed any chance to run.
2/10 - 4 treadmill miles and a quick weight session.
2/11 - Spent morning digging out this week's snow.
2/12 - 4 treadmill miles.
2/13 - 5.05 treadmill miles at Trek Class, then upper body weights.
2/14 - Unplanned rest day.

Given the incident in Florida at the school .
Really have no words to describe my emotions on this occurring again.I am getting sick and tired of all the ice. I slipped and fell walking to my car this morning...
@sarahthes I am so in agreement. The last 2 weeks have been miserable. I can deal with the cold, I can deal with a little ice, this Freezing Rain when it's -20C makes everything one big ice super slider.
Geared up last night, started my watch, walked from my culdesac over to the Trails. Stepped on the trails and went Ice Dancing. Turned around and went home. It's cold enough that the ice is really hard so screw shoes/traction aids can't bite into it. Grumble Grumble. My friends having been going to a local rec center 20km away with an indoor oval track , 600m 3 lanes, so it is very short with sharp corners and 2 lanes are usually bogged with walkers. If they would all stay to the inside or the outside it would be fine with 1 lane for runners. Some are on the outside, some on the inside so lots of weave and dodge.
Okay that's my rant.

Was only going to do 4 miles on my lunch break today but I was feeling so good I decided to do 5. And also, (WARNING: classic Runners' Math ahead) adding an extra mile is only another half mile on the 'out' portion of my 'out and back' route, and really, 0.5 mile is practically zero, so why not?? Also, it was a whopping 54F when I set out! It felt pretty nice running in only one single shirt, with no jacket, or fleece, or anything.
Sadly though, my new watch is still Out For Delivery, so I wasn't able to pick it up on my run. Booo.
ETA: and I just looked at my phone and there was a notification 14 min ago that it was delivered!!! Time to count down until the end of the work day, lol.11 -

@7lenny7 Thanks for posting that. Funny thing, between the 2 of them, they have my vest and my bottles. I actually have both the bottles they are carrying, but mainly use 1.0

I was sitting at my desk planning to try for an unofficial HM PR on the dreadmill, but then I looked at the weather...
SIXTY-ONE DEGREES!
So quickly lost any desire to do my speed work and planned to run outside. Sadly work got in the way and only had time for 7 miles, but I was able to do them in 1 hour! That means I ran 7MPH right? Really just need to start getting in some real long runs... just have to beat back the dreaded schedule beast to pull them off.9 -

Got back from my trip late last night (or rather, early this morning I guess). Didn't run yesterday due to the traveling, although I regretted not running in the morning before I left because it was so nice. Today I did not want to run AT ALL because I was exhausted and still sore, but the weather was so unusually warm that I eventually broke down and just did it. Can't waste a nearly 60 degree day in February in upstate NY.
Ordered my replacement pair of shoes so I hope they will get here tomorrow, my feet need them!

4.2 miles treadmill - falling further behind plan, but that is ok. The important thing is that I'm doing the best workout at the time to re-train as best as possible.

Should've been an easy run...the first six miles were easy just doing my thing. Then I met with the group for the usual five miles, and somehow, running slower pushed my heart rate higher. It still felt like an easy run, but I have no idea where the high heart rate came from. Bodies are just plain weird at times.
Well that's the last run from me for a week...on-call duties must be met. My current shoes are just two miles shy of 500, so that's the last run for them as well. Hopefully, when the 22nd arrives (the end of my on-call sentence), the new Epic Reacts are released, so I'll be ordering a pair.

In my experience that crazy HR has been dehydration. Hopefully your not getting sick, and I'd think you'd know if it were over training.
I went to a conference Dec 2nd and decided I did not want to fight women for the restroom in the school wing with really short potties and drank nothing all day but one coke at lunch. By 9pm my RHR bounced from 80 to 100 laying in bed. My Garmin even gave me a warning that I needed to relax and wanted to take me through breathing exercises.

We had snow plus re-freeze yesterday. I avoided sidewalks in front of homes as much as possible and ran on the paved path. The centre of the path was a sheet of ice, but there was a thin layer of crunchy snow drifted up along the edges plus I found a segment that hasn't been plowed in at least a week. Got in my km. I think it was closer to a mostly flat trail run than a road run though. It was nice out as long as I wasn't running into the wind.
@juliet3455 The closest indoor track is at the YMCA not far from here but I expect it has the same issues with walkers as the one in your neck of the woods.

Okay that's my rant.
At my gym, you would be asked to leave if you did not follow the simple "slower people to the outside lanes" rule. Seems much more reasonable.3
