I've just heard that my DDIL's TEDx talk is now on Utube. Some of you were interested to see it. This is the link to the over 50s group that Lisa started because we weren't allowed to post external links on this thread. I have linked in on a post in the group, which we are allowed to do.

Hi Ladies,
Decided to start the Slimfast plan for a couple of weeks to see if I can get a jump start on my weight loss. I'll keep y'all informed.
Becca- loved your snow chart. It's pretty right on except for the East Coast. Most of that was right, but New England has its own set of rules.
Michele- I wish you lived near me, then you could help me clean my house. lol. I have to get rid of a lot of stuff as well as really clean from top to bottom. Hopefully, when it gets warm so I can air out the house as well, I'll get to clean and get rid of stuff. Much of it belongs to DH and DD. I have some, too, but I try to weed as I go. It's sunny, but breezy here today and the weatherman is calling for a nor'easter. Not sure if it will be rain, snow or both, but should know by Thursday what's happening. March is good for large snowstorms. Have A great day. Hello to all the newbies.Thi is a great thread and a great group of Ladies.4 -

Been logging for over 2 years but haven’t really found the iPhone app to make these community groups easy to keep up with. I am Bialetti62 aka Laura. A very sunny afternoon to all of you. I did open up the patio door for a few minutes but it didn't stay open very long. It's 64 degrees but that's not warm enough to keep it open for a lot of enjoyment just for two cats. They don't pay the bills.
I think I am going to try choir practice again tonight. My face does feel better even if it hurts my fingers a lot to deal with the paper the music is written on. I just need to know if I can do it yet. And the fellowship with he choir members and singing that wonderful music.
Heather, your DDIL is not only a good speaker but good teacher. You have a lot of reasons to be proud of her.
Charlie is beginning to get frustrated with me taking about my frozen body parts. At times I don't talk but just groan. I was trying to put a bill in the envelope it came in. Those statements that are the EOB are several papers along and you need to fold them just the same way it came to you. So I was trying to do that and they weren't going in the envelope and yes, I was groaning.mit was hurting my fingers.
In looking at the bill, I didn't mind the bill for the X-rays but the doctors charge to take care of me after was t me outrages, it wass on one of my doctors visits to the orthopedics office. They take X-rays and then the X-rays are downloaded onto the computers that the doctor see when he examines you. So the billing was listed as 'closed management of fractured foot' the ther was he elbow. Anyway, one cost was $466 and the other was $340. Closed management????? All he did was looks
At the xray and say stay in the fracture boot or sling.
Ok, vent over. Now I will listen to our weatherman talk about our flooding and forecast.

@KetoneKaren :KetoneKaren wrote: »Well, now I'm all disappointed that you don't burn off a hundred calories walking a mile, LOL!
To put it in perspective. I ran a marathon. My Garmin watch, which knows my pace etc showed I only burned 2,345 calories doing 26.2 miles..... People always over estimate their calories. It's one of the reasons that I do not trust the MFP exercise calorie counts. They always over estimate in my opinion. I usually don't even pay attention to them or eat them back necessarily. If my body is used to the exercise there's no reason to give it more fuel. After the marathon I did enjoy a rather large protein filled meal.
To get the best calorie count of your exercise wear a heart monitor. It's actually kind of interesting to wear a heart monitor all day (apple watches take care of this for you but I don't have one) and see what burns and what doesn't. Sorry gals, for the most part "cleaning" doesn't burn half as much as they say in my case.

Heather, I enjoyed your daughter's Tedx talk. She makes some very good points about finding happiness every day. What a lovely person-I could tell I would really like her as a friend if she was in my part of the world. Happiness isn't tomorrow, it's today! Wendy4

Heather- I watched the video and was very impressed. She was very relaxed and natural and made some excellent points. Thanks for sharing.

Hi, discouraging day with weight gain and bad eating. Don’t know what it’s going to take to get my act together.
The guy that my DD had two dates with told her he didn’t feel enough of a connection to move forward. I think she wasn’t surprised though and has another date on Friday. Maybe this will turn out better.
Happy for those who are doing well and sending hugs to those of you who are struggling.

No luck at MVD. On way home, had to drive through my first sand storm. I use an app called “Field Agent” that pays you for doing shopping surveys. I had 3 jobs I wanted to do, 2 at Walmart and one at Little Caesar’s that would have totaled about $30 buck with a free meal, but when I went to reserve them all 3 were already gone. So that bummed me out too. No worries walking either due to heavy winds and blowing sand. All in all a very non-productive and depressing day.

“Pat in OH ((hugs)) are you home now?”
I sure am. The hospital ...to me,is mainly needles,IVs,needles & needles at all hours of night & day.
Home is so restful compared & NO needles! I was gone 35 mins after they said I was dismissed.

There has been some confusion about posting links. Here is what MFP says about links:
You may not post any links or mentions of other services, websites, or businesses from which you or an associate might benefit financially or otherwise. This includes, but is not limited to; posts that contain links to offsite blog posts and social media. You also may not solicit off-Forum contact from which you might benefit, e.g. "message me for more info", “I can get you free samples”, etc.
Positing most links create no problem.8 -
Heather - your daughter-in-law's talk was wonderful. So composed, very professional and extremely thought-provoking for me. Dealing with my son's mental issues, it provides an enormous amount of insight into some of his processes, as well. Especially, that "thoughts aren't facts." It's a good lesson for me, as well, as I can get over-invested in my own assumptions, and upset from them, rather than the reality. Loved it. And "being part of something bigger," was the exact reason I gave to Rori for being interested in working for a non-profit. It still holds, nearly a year into it. It's part of why I value my daily work so much.
On another note, my husband was wondering why I was watching it, and I told him, "I know her mother-in-law!" I feel as if I know all of you. This place and all of you are very much part of my enjoyment of my day. Thank y'all for that. You're special to me.
Love,
