yeah, I need to run more to get over that....
This right here is why I run.
Me too! I run for cookies and ice cream!
And donuts and bacon cheeseburgers. Sometimes pizza.
I run for cheeseburgers and pizza and pancakes.
I know, right? I mean some people have shirts that say "Will run for beer" and I am all like "Cheeseburgers and pizza!" Not to mention ICE CREAM - the real full fat kind, not the frankenstein garbage they try to pass off as ice cream.3 -
Love good beer, and good pizza but good ice cream is a necessity of life. Fortunately I live in an area with many homemade quality ice cream places nearby.2

That's pretty much my ideal food pyramid. It's a good job I enjoy running so much.2 -
Had a good run today...after all the Easter chocolate sweets, it was much welcomed!!! Back into routine with kids back to school...just waiting for some warmer weather to hurry up and get here☺️5

Date Miles today - Miles for April
4/1 10 miles - 10
4/2 REST DAY
4/3 6.2 miles - 16.2
Upcoming races:
Oak Barrel Half Marathon - 4/7/18
Tapering for this week's HM.4 -
4/1 - REST
4/2 - 5.19 (trail)
4/3 - 3.39
I swear I'm not messing with anyone by not rounding up! Definitely a "run easy" day. 5 miles on trail on a weeknight sure sticks with ya when you don't run on trail every day. That combined with a chilly wind made me slow to get out the door. I think I finally have to chuck the pants i wore today. They are officially "crack pants" because they slide down so badly, and I discovered a hole in them. I will always remember these as my "First HM pants."

@eponine1984 So sorry for your loss and for what you had to go through!1

Took me a while to find the thread!!! I went AWOL at the end of march but let's try this again! My target for April is 50km. Aiming to run 3-4 km 4-5 times a week. I am very stretched for time so can't do longer runs at the moment but a short run is better than none right?!
4/1 - 4km - 4/50
4/2 - rest day - 4/50
4/3 - 5.4km - 9.4/50 - awful run... legs are still feeling the effects of spinning and running on the weekend....5 -
I hate anxiety and pre-race nerves8

I run to eat. Not picky just want to eat/drink what I want pretty much whenever I want. I would love to be able to eat pizza... tried again thinking it would be fine, on my husband's birthday... still a big NO. I think I have finally learned my lesson there.
I had another good run today. My legs were a bit cranky and tired but it was nice out and Hobbes the Vizsla was enjoying watching the birds, bunnies and lizards. I am really liking not having any real constraints other than my own physical limitations. It is such an amazing feeling.
@Stoshew71 and @Elise4270 - what do you think about creating an April Running Challenge under the Challenge
section with the link back to this location since people seem to be having issues finding it this month?

Ran a nice and easy 7 miles before meeting up with the group for another easy 5 miles. I finished things off with one final mile because there was time to fit one more in before heading to the office. Average HR was just 135 bpm, which meant I was taking things super-easy...definitely a wise precaution to take as my ankle is still a little swollen; there's zero pain so I'm not too concerned with things, and for now I'll simply assume it will calm back down over the week.
02 - 15.39

A run with friends tonight. The weather was 37 degrees and drizzly but we were happy it wasn't raining too hard. I made the mistake though of taking off my gloves and now I'm having the worst flare up of Raynaud's that I've had I think. My index fingers are really bad and it's not easy to type. The color is starting to come back though.2 -
First run of the month for me today! This was my first time running without my c25k program “coaching” me in my ear buds, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. Since I ended the program on Saturday running for 30 minutes, I decided to run for 32 minutes today and see how far that got me. I didn’t cover as much ground as I had hoped, but Tuesday is always my struggle bus day for whatever reason.
Goal: 40 miles
Today: 2.3 miles
Total: 2.3 miles
I’m feeling a bit nervous that I’m not going to run my whole 5k on the 21st, but I’m going to keep pushing forward.7 -
4/1: 2.5 miles
4/2: 3.1 miles
4/3: ST, walk 1 mile
Total Running for April: 5.6
Strength training day for me, but I hopped on the treadmill for a 1 mile walk after.
As for running for food, I run for nachos! And beer. But mostly nachos.
Upcoming Races:
Wineglass Marathon 9/303 -
Brisk walk today, despite the wind. Really looking forward to warmer weather.
1/4: REST
2/4: REST
3/4: 5.26 kms (brisk walk) + 8 mins of bodyweight training
TOTAL : 5.26 / 50 kms goal
Races:
19/4-30/4: Zombies Run! App 2018 Spring Virtual Run
22/9: “Coureurs des Bois” Obstacle Course Challenge (not signed up yet)
4 -
4/1 - rest
4/2 - rest
4/3 - 7.1km
7.1/100 km
Started out really sore and tight today so I just took my time, stopped and stretched whenever it felt really bad, and I was warmed up and loose by 5 km. Sunny out, -3C but with a nippy south wind that had the windchill around -9C. I finally managed to dress okay for this weird non-spring weather though so I was comfortable the entire run.
T-4 days until the half. @juliet3455 apparently they are keeping on top of the plowing and will do... something... to improve traction on the trail bits according to the race info email I got today. But it's still gonna be a slog especially if it warms up enough to start melting all over the place! I've basically decided I'm packing every single bit of running kit I own because the weather has so much potential to be wonky.
2018 Races:
1/1/18 Resolution Run 5K ~38:00 (no official times)
3/4/18 MEC Road Race #1 10K 1:30:57

April Running Totals (miles)
4/1 – 6.21 easy
4/2 – rest day
4/3 – 6.35 easy to MP
April running total to date – 12.56
Nominal April mileage goal: 130 miles
Real goals: Arrive at Hopkinton healthy. Get to Boyleston Street under my own power. Recover well.
Today's notes – Went to club practice this evening in a steady drizzle, but warm enough to wear shorts to run. Did my warmup, and the assignment for Boston training was 3x2 miles at T pace. Um, no. That would depend on my having done a lot of tempo work earlier in the plan that I didn't do. So I just ran about 3.5 miles of up and down and worked on holding MP regardless of terrain. Got about the right total distance in, including warmup.
I don't know how much of this is prudence, how much is cowardice, and how much is just plain distaste for doing speed work in the rain; but holding the pace easier produced a pleasant run and kept me on track to run less this week than last week. Good enough.
In other news, it seems my team captain put me on the roster for the USATF Masters 10K in Dedham. That's 13 days after Boston, same as last year. If things go well, I'll try to remember not to run it all out. If things don't go well, I'll be a late cancellation for Dedham. The major goal is to complete Boston and stay healthy; if I accomplish that, Dedham becomes possible.
2018 races:
February 17, 2018 Freezeroo #5 (Valentines Run "In Memory of Tom Brannon" 8 Mile) (Greece, NY) finished in 54:48
February 24, 2018 Freezeroo #6 (White House Challenge 4.4 mile) (Webster, NY) finished in 28:46
March 17, 2018 USATF Masters 8K (Shamrock 8K, Virginia Beach, VA) finished in 31:55
March 24, 2018 Spring Forward 15K (Mendon, NY) ran at MP, finished in 1:10:47
April 16, 2018 Boston Marathon (Hopkinton, MA)
April 29, 2018 USATF Masters 10K (James Joyce Ramble, Dedham, MA)

If you go to podrunner.com they have training programs following on from c25k. They have gateway to 8k and freeway to 10k. I used them last year before doing Midnattsloppet in Stockholm and i loved them!2 -
Aiming for 200 kms run.
And some cartwheels again
03 Apr – 10.1 km
04 Apr – 10.1 km
Total: 20.2 km
I run for pasta and chocolate if I have to pick my top main & dessert.2 -
Canadians! And Americans living close to the West Coast border!
So, I want to go hiking in the Rockies, or somewhere beautiful with stunning mountain scenery. I don't need to be climbing up the things, but being around mountains would be great.
I'm planning around three/four days hiking and camping probably late September. I'm not an experienced camper but my sister who'll be bringing the kit/helping me hire kit/coming with me is (she went camping last weekend. In the snow. In minus 35 degrees C). I'll hire a car, and I guess I'll be flying into Calgary, and she'll come across from the prairies.
So where's good to go that is a bit of backcountry, and a hidden gem?1 -

Thank you! I think I will start some kind of 10k program after my 5k. I’ll add those programs to my list of ones to look into.1 -

There is one.
And hopefully next month we will go back to challenges were it makes the most sense to find this thread.0
