What good things have you sown in to your life the last four months???
I love your posts. I have started being more grateful and more health conscious. I love the water challenge too, have been making it to 10 cups most days. I think moving forward I need to buy a scale and start weighing the food since the scale isn't moving as fast as I would like, and 95% of the time I'm within my calorie goals. I also need to start doing some strength training.
10 CUPS!!! Wow! That's impressive. I'm feeling pretty proud if I can get 7-8 in!
I'm sorry that your scale is not moving as fast as you would like...but is it moving downward at all?
I find I get 6 cups in at work and then 2 with supper and 2 in the evening. If I don't start drinking by 10 though I'm chugging it later and then up half the night LOL. I struggle some on weekends getting to 10, but I always make it to 8.
On the 15th, I was 194.8, went up for two days dropped down to 194, and ever since has been between 195 - 197. Yesterday was down to 194.8 again but this morning back up to 195.6. Very frustrating. I don't log all of my activity, I only log exact when it's my walks which tell me my calorie burn and from exercise equipment that tells me. I feel I am over estimating on food. The last two days I have had over 200 calories left over. It is very frustrating. I am hoping by Sunday it is back down again.5 -

@slittlemeister - When do you sleep? Maybe it's because I'm getting older, if I even stay up watching tv past 11 I'm dragging the next day.
I was thinking the same thing! And then I recalled the few times I would be out til 3am, home by 4, and at work by 9...How did I do that??? Probably not very well, lolol
Haha, I don't sleep enough! I try to mix it up so that I only have 1-2 late nights in the week, then sleep in a little at weekends (though can't always manage to do that, find myself waking up earlier these days!) Yesterday worked out ok because I was working from home today so could sleep in Unfortunately my boyfriend couldn't though and I woke him up when I came in...
I am finding though that I need increasingly more sleep as I get older and that it takes fewer drinks to make me feel rough the next day than it used to.... Sigh. Might have to grow up soon!
I would suggest avoiding growing up as long as possible LOL. I was married at 18 and had both of my girls by 22. I wouldn't change it for the world, but wonder what my 20's would have been like if I hadn't done that.5 -
Checking in before my early night tonight. Had a good day and feeling much more positive. Feeling a bit stronger physically will hopefully give me the mental boost I need for some tough decision-making I need to face in the coming days and weeks

1. Log all food Had a sub for dinner last night since I didnt eat at home and have no idea how to log it
2. Make wise food choices Other than the sub and the two handfuls of chips...sure
3. Drink 3 bottles @ work 4-5 by the end of the night
3. Gym @ 6 Woke up really really sore so I slept in pretty late.
4. Coffee w/ DH It was nice
5. Work 1015-515 Was a decent day I guess. My soon to be former manager is convinced that I am too nice of a person and that the new one who can be kind of rude is going to be mean to me and it's going to hurt my feelings...She doesnt have enough faith in my tough as nails skin.
6. Mail letter on break There are 3 blue mailboxes on my way to work. One of them is in the parking lot I use for work, the post office is across the street from the parking lot and there's one about 200 feet from the door to my gym! I dont know why this has been so hard for me!
7. Make list of bills I actually worked out a whole budget that allows us room to not only pay our normal bills but also pay the new car payment, the raised insurance, and my new gym membership fee!
8. Only 4 cups of coffee I think I may have only had 3 actually
9. D's house for dinner/organizing "date" It was more of a chatty visit then a work date. I think we only organized for about a half an hour. But I'm going to go over next weekend and spend two days completely dismantling her whole office area and reorganize it. Lol
10. Home by 10 10:15 but close enough. Lol
11. Bed by 1130 More like 1. The Dh had a terrible day at work so I spent about 2.5 hours trying to make him feel better
It's already 6:30 here!
Work sucked today, to be honest. Our new manager, L, spent today and tomorrow shadowing J who is the one who is leaving. L(who shares a name with my head teller) is the former head teller at the main branch and is the woman who trained me. She spent the afternoon behind the teller line and kind of watched over my shoulder. I have been at my branch for a month. She freaked me out because I kept thinking I was doing things wrong and it made me screw a few things up. Granted she is a GREAT woman and will do really well at her job when she gets settled in, but she can be a tad bit overwhelming. She teaches me the right way though. The "other L" tries to train me her own way and I dont respond to it that well. But it was just an off day. I know that once J is officially gone it will be easier because we can adapt to the way that LM wants us to do things. So next week will be much easier I think. I'm going to call my new manager LM and my head teller LK because those are their initials and you know me, I like to tell you all about my day. Lol.
The DH got in trouble at work for something incredibly stupid yesterday had was in a terrible mood last night. He got loud with me at one point but calmed down from that quickly. So I spent a long time just hugging him before I finally got so tired I couldn't stay up a minute longer. OH! It didnt help today that I didnt wake up until J called me at 8:23 to ask me where I was. I was the opening teller. So I threw on clothes and ran out the door. Part of the sleeping so late was because I was up so late! Lol.
Okay, enough about that!
Today I:
-Did not stay in my calorie goal(pizza/wings/muffins/ice cream all as a goodbye to J)
-Only drank 2 bottles of water at work
-Had my 4 cups of coffee for the day
-Made it through work(at least my drawer balanced)
-Was a half an hour late to work
To do before the night ends:
-Enjoy dinner with R(have a salad)
-Take a shower before dinner
-Dishes
-Tech off my 10:30
-Bed by 11:30
-Make sure alarm is set in the AM!
I'll come back on after dinner to update goals for tomorrow! I promise!!!

@OConnell5483 We're going to Vietnam - travelling from the south (Ho Chi Minh Cory) to the north (Hanoi) in two weeks! Getting quite excited now... Mainly about the food!! (Which doesn't bode well for not putting weight on, hmm...)
Oh my gosh! How exciting! I will sit over here and live vicariously through you. We never really go anywhere and if we do, it certainly isn't anywhere cool or exotic like Paris or Vietnam! I'm so excited for you!!!
Sorry, I just saw this. It appears I'm about 5 pages behind! Have FUN!5 -
-
@slittlemeister Safe travels and as I tell my kids, "Seize the moment!" I found a little going away quote for you! Peace and joy as you gather a life time of memories.6
-
@toaljasa I love your marriage/wedding verse. The world would be a nicer place if we all lived it!
@cschmitz110515 I've never seen Cactus Flower, so I looked it up. I love Walter Matthau and Goldie Hawn. I'm going to have to watch it! Thanks for the tip! Also, reading about all the stuff you are adding is so inspiring! Helps me to at least keep trying. One of these days it'll stick.
@snowflake1968 I feel your pain! I am not eating large amounts and am staying in my calorie goals, and my weight keeps going up and down the same few pounds. But I am attacking it fresh again tomorrow. I need to sit and have a good real look at what I'm doing and what I need to stop, change or start! We can do this!
@bcTRAI Great weight loss! What quilt class do you go to? Do you teach it or participate as student?
@slittlemeister Great approach, asking your friends to rate their burgers on a scale of 0-10 before ordering! I would have never thought to do that. Pretty clever, missy!
@mytime6630 SO HAPPY you spoke with your son! You must feel so relieved and so much better! Xoxox
@AJB1014 Great self-talk! I read your paragraph about taking a step back a few times and it's really insightful. Thanks for sharing!
@junodog1 LOL!! (Glad you're still at least lurking in the shadows….hugs)

It's a beautiful day where I live---I hope it is where you are! We are knocking at May's door! We have almost completed 4 months of our 2018 health journey. I want to encourage you to take stock of what your goal was in January and how you are doing so far. Are you on track? Are you making better time than you thought? Are you lagging behind?
If you aren't where you hoped to be then start making plans today before May 1 comes along! Write down what changes need to be made. Have a real heart to heart talk with yourself. This isn't a time to be discouraged! This is a time to get your determinator pants on and move forward!! Each of us have the power and ability to make our targets---we must choose to stay within our boundaries that we set.
I have been thinking about the adage, "You reap what you sow." I've spent a life time sowing bad habits and thoughts and reaping the negative benefits from then. But over the past four months I've been sowing some good things into my life...such as drinking more water (thanks, Joan!). I am reaping so much from this--clearer skin, more energy, and I really think it helps me with my weight loss.
What good things have you sown in to your life the last four months???
Write down the process that you are going to use to meet your target and keep your eyes on it every single day.
Together, we can do this!!! Don't wait til May 1! Start now. Let's make some progress by focusing on our process!
May Peace and Joy abound in our hearts as we make good choices for our health.
This is seriously what I needed to read right now. I need to do a complete inventory and overhaul. I need to look at what I've been doing and what I need to do...step by step how I can get there. I am going to write it down just like you said. Very inspirational. Thank you. I'm going to think on this and post my plan when I've got one.6 -

To do before the night ends:
-Enjoy dinner with R(have a salad) Well I had a salad...not the best salad but it was large with veggies and grilled chicken Lol
-Take a shower before dinner I actually felt really pretty tonight.
-Dishes Probably not but there is still time.
-Tech off my 10:30 13 minutes! If I hustle I can do this!
-Bed by 11:30 Very probable
-Make sure alarm is set in the AM! About to get up and do this!
So this evening I wore a Pens shirt(They won btw), a pair of jeans that were a little loose(!) and black flip flops...I felt gorgeous. For some reasons I was hyper-aware of my body and realized I could tell how much weight I had lost. When I look down at my stomach there isn't much of a bulge left. It was just a really good evening. Had great conversations with R. We were at the diner for at least 1.5 hours. We didnt see each other for a month so this was very much needed. The DH seems to have had a better day at work today and apparently, he got me a present. I can't wait to see what it is! 9 minutes left!
Anyway, JFT 4/27/18
1. Log all food(Be accountable)
2. 3 waters at work/1 at home
3. Up @ 530
4. Gym @ 6
5. Work 815-515
6. Prep/Bring lunch and snacks
7. Have the willpower to stay away from snacks!!!
8. Stop by sending off party
9. Walmart after work
10. Budget review with DH
11. Figure something out for dinner(probably leftovers)
12. DH time
13. Bed whenever
2 minutes!
Have a great night!5 -

2 sleeps until holiday! Doesn't feel quite real yet, probably because I'm still in work mode. Should get real and exciting after I finish today!
@OConnell5483 @toaljasa Thanks for your holiday best wishes! I like the quote and will use it to encourage me to be more adventurous while I'm away @OConnell5483 Happy to post the odd travel pic to inspire you to book something yourself if you like?
Yesterday's commitments:
- Log everything I eat Apparently I forgot to log my lunch. Oops.
- Stick to food plan Day wasn't great so me and the boyfriend ended having a few G&Ts
- No alcohol As above
- Drink 3 water bottles maybe one...
- Go for run Was too tired and demotivated when I finished work, plus the weather was RUBBISH. So I had a bath instead!
- 30+ minute lunch break - do life admin
- Stop work by 7 latest
Got on the scales this morning and had gone down - not by much, but it's all going in the right direction!
Today I won't be logging or restricting - me and the boyfriend are going out to a posh restaurant for our anniversary and I want to make the most of that. However, I will try to be sensible - eating slowly, savouring every bite, and not ordering extra courses if I am already full. The good thing is, at posh restaurants the portions are generally rather small
Today's commitments:
- Stick to food plan (before meal)
- Eat sensibly at dinner: eat slowly, savour every bite and don't order extra courses if full
- Drink as much water as wine
- 30+ minute lunch break
- Print off all travel documents
- Do at least one holiday action (e.g. call bank)
- Stop work by 6pm latest
- Do postal vote
- Have fun!!!
Happy Friday everyone!5 -
*Log all your foods
*Don't eat junk food
*Have a productive day4 -
@OConnell5483 Thank you - that means a lot! I tend to be incredibly private, but I've found great solace in this group.3

@clicketykeys - You have SO MUCH packed into your day! I'm new around this thread but what you strive to achieve each day inspires me. I hope you are able to refuel over the weekend and keep kicking butt!5
-
@clicketykeys I often feel like this. Lately I've realised, you know what? I just need to give myself a break and do fewer things - focus on what is really important to me, not what I 'could do' or 'should do'. Maybe you should evaluate what you are trying to do and identify some things to deprioritise?5

@cschmitz110515 Thank you!!! This thread has helped so much in getting there!3
-
@slittlemeister - Thanks for the encouragement! I think part of it is the time of year; I'm more aware than ever of what my students haven't yet learned. And the more practice I give to my students, the more time I have to spend evaluating their work! But at the same time, evaluating their work shows me where they need more practice - and of course, they're students, they're not perfect, so they will ALWAYS need more practice. So the cycle of grading never seems to end!
And then there's everything else outside of work. Family. Friends. Self-care. Chores. It's HARD to de-prioritize when there's so many things in life that are interesting and/or important!5 -
@slittlemeister Please do send pics of your experience! It will be fun to tag along!!!4

WELCOME TO ALL THE NEW FOLK!! This is a great group and personally speaking it has been instrumental in helping me stay on my health journey path and to lose 18 pounds since January 1. You will benefit from it if you frequently come on here! It has taught me that being consistent is a key player to this whole weight loss thing and has lead me to be consistent in other areas as I keep myself accountable with this encouraging and supportive group.
Peace and joy!7 -

I would LOVE that! I was talking to my husband last night telling him how you go to Paris for weekend trips and now are going to Vietnam and how I missed my calling....to travel! I've always loved to travel and have done very little of it. I'm living vicariously through you! I did start browsing online last night for some places I might be able to visit in the US or Canada. I've never been to Canada and would love to. Both my husband and I have always wanted to go to Alaska also... I'm so excited for you!3
