Cheri - You are right - the haircut really suits you - much more trendy and youthful! I am never letting go of my shoulder length hair, but I love the pixie crop on you.
Barbie - a white picket fence. Lovely!
Contacted a literary agency today. Not optimistic, but you have to go through the motions.
Going for a run today if the rain holds off. It was pouring earlier.
Feeling fed up with the house business. Grrrrrrrrrr! Losing motivation to do things. I did sleep though. Will try to put more books in boxes. Shrug.

Rori, Here's more about photo scanning
*my printer is also a scanner so I found out how to use it
*I scan onto a memory stick, scanning about 20 photos in a session
*using my computer and the software that I have (Microsoft Office Picture Manager), I crop and rotate photos
*then I name each photo and save it in a file system that I created that works for me (I have folder for family, friends, animals, etc)
*deciding on a file system is a personal thing...I've added new folders as I've gone along
This is a challenging process and something I can do only for short periods of time (less than 30 minutes at a time) because it's a combination of tedious work and highly emotional feelings
I have photos that were my mother's and my grandmother's and they cover parts of my life that make me happy and sad and all stations in between.
Good luck

British Accent- While I sit here and giggle over Heather's annoyance that we keep referring to "a British accent", maybe we need to clarify? Saying that someone has a British accent would be like saying someone has an American accent or a Canadian accent. You can't have an accent of a whole country/continent! In America we have accents according to what region we live in. Even the "southern" accent is divided into regions and are very different from region to region. Shoot, we even have different words for the same thing depending on where we live.As far as accents, I grew up in the South and we could tell which town people were from by their accent.
I have a hard time telling an English accent from an Australian accent. Makes the Assuies laugh.
Suebdew in TX
Same with the Australian accents ... there are several different ones here. There is a very posh Australian accent that sounds almost "English".
As for me ... after 9 years living in Australia, and trips to different parts of the world, especially Europe, somehow my rather mixed western Canadian accent has turned into ..... Irish.
The most frequent guess about my accent is Canadian, but running a very close second is Irish.
So when you read what I write, read it with a lilt.TrishasTime wrote: »In Oz May signals that winter is comng

Yep. Dismally dark and often cold when I leave the hospital each evening now.
I absolutely hate it when DST ends (ended about a month ago), and just in general, I'm not keen on the couple months prior to the day with the fewest daylight hours. This year I hate it more than usual.
However, I'm starting to make plans for keeping active this winter ... alone.Drink more water. (why is that SO HARD??)
I used to find it difficult ... and then I started developing kidney stones. Had to have one surgically removed after it got lodged on the way out. I've never in my life experienced pain like that.
Now I drink.
And any time I let it go a little bit, my kidneys start hurting. Pretty good hint I'd better grab my water bottle.Hair and haircuts Everytime I got my hair cut short (shorter than shoulder length) I have gone home and cried. In my opinion I look simply awful with short hair. I have also had bangs (fringe, I believe it is called in Great Britain) my entire life. Right now I have a typical for me hairstyle: long, straight and with bangs. (Yeah, the cartoon “me” emojified picture on my posts actually looks a lot like me).
As I think a lot of you know ... mine is anywhere from waist to hip length. No bangs/fringe.
Right now, it's closer to hip length and I haven't dyed it in a year. I was going to get it cut back to waist length and dye it back in March, but ...
Now I'm thinking I'll just let it grow out for a while and see just how grey I am.

It's only Wednesday night, and I'm already done with this week.
Monday and Tuesday were both 12 hour days (from the time I left home till the time I returned) including university, work, meetings, the hospital and long walks in between. 9.9 km on Monday. And then homework till late both nights.
Today (Wednesday) was only about 10 hours, but still work, university and a stressful morning at the hospital. Thankfully, when I returned to the hospital this evening, my husband was relaxed and peaceful. We listened to calm music for about an hour-and-a-half and then he fell asleep.
No homework tonight. Taking an evening off to do next to nothing.

Barbie, I love your fence. It's beautiful from every angle.
Dr. Katiebug, nice vanity!

Cheri Sister, we now have the same haircut. Would it be inappropriate to say it is an adorable, fresh, flattering, fun cut and you look fabulous? I mean, since it's exactly like mine...
Felicia I totally have greenhouse envy. That is a wonderful greenhouse and I want it.
Barbie Nice fence!
Wendy Your work with the girl who is autistic is wonderful and inspiring. You are a fine person. I am inspired by you.
Lacey Unless it's a major trigger food for you, don't give up the chocolate. Just be sure you log it so you know how it is impacting your overall food plan. Then you can adjust how much & how often you have it.
Katie. Can't wait to see more pics of your renovated bathroom. This has been a fun project to vicariously enjoy.
Dana & Terry Healing thoughts! That walking boot can be totally blinged out. Especially if you have velcro doodads to attach to it. Also, healing thoughts
Okie Maintenance is hard. I have learned from this group that the best method is to keep on doing what you did to lose weight, and tweak slightly here and there as needed to stay within your range. What this means to me is that my weight loss journey has to include a lifetime food plan instead of serial diets. It is too hard to transition into maintenance from a diet.
Katla Long paragraph ahead...
So sad about your friend!
One of my dear friends from high school has been in a nursing home for over 5 years now. She was a brilliant, dynamic, amazing woman who raised 3 strapping boys, kept an immaculate house, managed everything on the farm except what grew in the fields, was actively involved in her church, and just for kicks and grins, was a talented and compassionate Special Ed teacher. She was also actively involved in our H.S. alumni group. At our 30th reunion, one of our classmates was working with her and noticed she was giving people incorrect change and struggling with computing what to charge people for pictures, meals, etc that were on the "a la carte" menu for the reunion. Thus began a long, difficult, and delicately orchestrated endeavour by her husband and friends to get her evaluated. She was very resistant, and in denial. Finally, after a couple of years, she had deteriorated enough that they were able to get her evaluated, and she was diagnosed with Alzheimers Disease. Her husband cared for her at home until it was just not safe to do so any longer, at which time he placed her in a nursing home. They do an excellent job of caring for her. We are all so sad. It is questionable whether she knows her sisters, her best friend, or her own husband.

2 things keep me from drinking the amount of water I am supposed to: that gross "sloshy" feeling I get after I drink 8-10 oz of water and the fact I pee constantly. I'm telling you, I cannot sit at my desk and work solidly for any real amount of time because I have to pee again and again. (not to mention getting up at night! oy.) And THAT is my TMI post of the day.8

Beautiful greenhouse....Beautiful Flowers....Beautiful Fence....Too Cute Haircut...Love the Bathroom Vanity!
About training husbands...Like Michele has said, once I start doing a job the DH usually decides to join in and finish. Guess he thinks he can do it better, quicker. My DH is another one of those who lets his temper get away from him over the silliest things and I just keep praying that he will learn to calm down. Especially when he is driving!
Just decided that I am a slob. So, cleaning out my bathroom cabinets and already threw away a trash bag full of old brushes, hair curlers, perm rods, curling irons, and too many cleaners, etc. Now I have the makeup drawer and a junk drawer to go through. Can't believe the amount of space left after the clean out. Yesterday, I cleaned 3 kitchen cabinet doors with straight ammonia and will do 3 more today. Like some have said, "mini steps." About time this over 30 yr old house gets a good clean up. I need to replace the mini blinds that can't seem to be dusted, but when I bought some new ones recently they missed fitting the windows by about 1/2 an inch.

Happy hump day for all who work everyday. Since I am retired Wednesday means DH golf day. I usually go. To Y but today playing bridge. Seems like I play a lot of games. Suppose to have bad weather tonight and tomorrow which will ruin my golf tournament tomorrow. Oh well

My goals all fell apart in late March for reasons out of my control. I don't know how May is going to go, but I'm hoping to start to pick up my fitness pieces.
For a start, I've signed up for a 5K run at the end of the month. A little goal.
And I've got some plans for more indoor cycling as winter comes on.
Machka in Oz10 -
May goals.
TrailWalking 5 times a week 35 to 45 minutes x day.
Begin 3 times a week resistance training.
Continue with keto.
Sleep 9 hours a night most nights, in bed by 1030.
I would like to lose five pounds but as I only wish to lose it off my tummy
and add muscle mass to rest of my body, it is more of a reshaping.
Drink glass of water per hour.
Keep a gratitude journal, enter day and evening.
Hello to all, new here.
Cheryl from Newfoundland.

Thanks for all the compliments! Yes, Karen we are twinsies! I still color as it makes me feel younger! Best $3 beauty treatment I use!
Love all the pics. Fences, flowers, vanity and kiddos!
Dreary day here. Laundry, lite packing, exercise and some reading. Have book club at Barnes and Noble this evening. Hubs will be home late as he has to travel to the Houston Campus.
Best nites sleep in several weeks. Must have been exhausted. ☺

Sun came out! I went and did my 5k. I had different ear phones and hardly heard the cars! Oooops! Nice new(for me) tune on my phone, Roar, by Katy Perry. I tend to like the female empowerment anthems.
Then I sorted out all my jam/preserving jars and bottles and took a photo for the Recycling Group. Posted it, so we shall see if anyone wants them. There are funnier things on there.

Hair and haircuts Everytime I got my hair cut short (shorter than shoulder length) I have gone home and cried.
But, with costs and expenses being what they are, I really can’t afford haircuts regularly either. So I cut (butcher, to be truthful) my bangs about once a month and use a curling iron to hide how badly cut they are. And then I’ll have my hair trimmed at the cheapest hair cut place I can find about once every year or year and a half. My mother is rolling over in her grave at these words, one place she would NEVER economize would be on haircuts.

I was trying to decide what the heck to do with my hair for nearly six months. I am curly but not in a structured good looking way...frizz and scraggly. I decided to straighten and grow out my bangs for the first time since I was seven years old! I'm fairly happy with it.10 -

Hi all. Wow 5 pages already! Well, I lost my 5# for April, so now it's time to focus on May. I want to lose 5# this month too. Nothing much new here, my final is tomorrow, so it's pretty quiet around here right now. It was stormy last night and will be on and off for the next 2 days as well.
So I finished my one book and I'm starting another soon. I thought I had until June 1 to get the first half done, but it's July 1, so now I can get a few things done at home and get better organized. Things are a hot mess there right now! First I need to do my taxes, lol.
Well I have a meeting to get to, so I'm off. You all have a wonderful day. I'm cheering for you! meg from stormy Omaha10 -
Lenora No more Nexium? I will have to speak to my doctor about that. Thanks for posting that.
Michele in NC my DH does the same thing;waits for me to start something then finishes it himself by taking over.
NANKAYK See a doctor about your water problem. There are ways to treat that. My mom did at 82 and now with meds no longer has to wear pads.
Carol in GA Guess there are more men out there that act the same way. I wonder why?? They think they can do it better, faster, easy to anger with angry outbursts.........
Spent the day in town yesterday. DH finally got his New Mexico license without too long a wait. Ate badly at Wendy’s but not too far over calories for day.
Windy again today. Too much for a walk with sand blowing. DH decided we might be staying longer to have our POD delivered and empty it. More info later.
