Penny, I think the "tagged" polar bear looks awesome! and much friendlier than I bet the real ones are!
Rebecca, that certainly is a tree! Your sisters artwork is gorgeous! If I'm ever headed for Yakima (doubtful at this point....) I will definitely get more info from you as to where it's for sale and check it out!
Sue from Western Kentucky, Welcome!
Page from NY, Welcome to you also. There should be a reply box at the end of the page that you can type into. Unfortunately MFP doesn't allow you to comment directly to each post. When you do start a comment in the box, you have to be careful to not change pages or you will lose your post. Can get somewhat annoying. Some people use notebook to keep track, I sometimes open MFP twice, split my screen (only on my desktop!) and then use one to read and the other to comment.
It's a beautiful day here in paradise! Sure can get used to the sunshine quickly! Hope everyone is having a great day!

Welcome Sue! I love my ladies here, a great resource for whatever question you have. Logging daily helps, drinking 8 glasses of water helps, getting a good scale helps, and putting yourself first is paramount. Sometimes that first step is the hardest, but step you must! My highest weight has been 265, but with these ladies here I am down to 244. Accountability, and perseverance key words that mean something! You can do this!

My prescription for a healthy life - eat lots of lovely healthy food and move a lot. Simple.
The best thing you can do for your brain is to exercise vigorously.
The best diet is the one you can stick to. Eating is not a penance or a chore. Food is a celebration of life.

Cheri - I think fasting is incorporated into the Jewish beliefs? Cheri, I too have a hard time getting enough protein in - but too much protein is hard on the kidneys. I've learned to be satisfied with 45 gm or over.
Thank you

Yes, we observe several holidays where daylong fasting is a part of the ritual. I find myself naturally not eating after 5 pm and then not eating breakfast till 10 ish the next day. I'm really trying to follow my natural hunger pattern after years of eating 3 meals and 3 snacks a day.

Evie: Thanks for the recommendation for a Bosch dishwasher. I'll make note of it. I am a terrible skinflint and will get the very last use possible out of the current dishwasher before we replace it.
SusieQ: Welcome!
Doctor Heather: I agree with this completely:

My day has been a mixed blessing. Trip number 1 to the stable was a fact-finding mission. I discovered what I need to know. The feeders will be there for an extended time starting at about 3pm. That is now my target time to ride. I won't have to drag DH along, and won't have to annoy the owner with babysitting my rides. Win, win! I'll be heading back there in just a few minutes.
Now I'm off to the stable in an irritated state of mind because of the conflict with the neighbor. I caught my busybody neighbor pruning my camelia bush after I've told her repeatedly to leave it alone. :grumble: :grumble: :grumble:
I have to let the irritation go and focus on being present & in a good mood before I arrive at the stable.

Morning everyone
Winter has finally raised its head in Perth us, it has been blowy and raining for the past 2 days. Not heavy rain but enough to make it annoying.
Hugs to those who need them

Hi Susie-q
Your start weight was the same as mine! I am 60 years old & 100 lbs down today. I was gardening today up on the top tier of my garden beds. It is nice to look better, but even nicer to be back to doing the things that I love.
And, my grandson who was struggling with his weight, has lost 10 lbs (and grown 4 inches) because I inspired him. His dad(my son) is over 450 now. My wish is still to inspire him. His boys have picked up on his unhealthy food choices. It makes going into adolescence difficult.
The boy on the left is 14 & looking awesome now!

Susie turning 50 hurt my feelings so bad! 40 didn't and 60 didn't. But then my 50's were just great years. Embrace it and keep saying 50 is the new 30!4 -
Ladies this week is going to be a very emotional and trying one for me. May 9th is my son's 38th birthday and he's incarcerated.
May 11th is the first anniversary of my grandson's death. It's still so hard. May 13th is Mother's Day. At this point my daughter is estranged from us since her son died, so neither of my children will be around for Mothers Day.
I'm certainly not one to sit upon my pitty-pot, but this is all just hard. Especially May 11th. Please say a little prayer for my daughter and me. I just want to get through this week. Thanks!

Katla - I am so glad you are liking the B12 and it's making a difference. I finally read up on it yesterday.... come to find out, B12 is stored in the liver and apparently can last in there for several months, unlike most other B vitamins which are water soluble and are needed in the diet every day. If my B12 isn't up to par when I have it tested in a few months, I plan to start getting the shots. My grandmother got them monthly and was darn sharp until she died at age 92 from a stroke.
Hope you had a good time at the stable with the feeders around. Is this neighbor the same one that gave you grief with the hose last year? If so, she needs a hobby. In another part of town, lol. Soon!
Heather - great advice! I think you are right on the money! Love the pictures and way to go getting the trip booked for next year. It was meant to be!
I read something today about making changes in our diet and exercise, likened to turning a huge ship around. It will take a while but with steady hands on the wheel and despite weathering a few storms, we'll get there if we keep our eye on the horizon.
Rebecca - love that big tree! Stealing it to post on the local Master Gardener's page!
Rye - I found the 5/2 intermittent fasting site and will be reading it thoroughly over the next few days. Might spring for the book! So glad it's worked for you - you have made fabulous progress during the last year! You know your stuff for sure. Thank you!!!
Mary - thank you so, so much for the BioHack link. I just returned Bredesen's book to the library (have read it twice now) and was thinking of buying it. Jacob Gorden of Biohack has pulled out the pertinent info. Great recipes, lots of wonderful articles. You, too, have transformed yourself with diet and exercise and I feel so lucky to have such great information just by asking for it.

Allie - loved hearing about your little trip.
Evie - we did have a wonderful day in Paradise. Even a little rain shower down there close to Mt. St. Helens/Mt. Rainier in SW WA State Fragrant orange/pick Azalea is blooming and the smell is heavenly.
Better wrap it up for now. Have a good evening ladies.

Did ½ hr on the recumbant bike and then the stretch and flex DVD. The plan for tomorrow is to do some hula hoop, hold my plank, then take the extremepump class.
Mary – the biggest problem with a picture of the pool with the ceramics around it is that it’s so hard to get a good picture that shows them all
Rye – all during the summer you’ll probably hear me talking about going in the pool. Mother Nature has been so weird this year. We usually open the pool in March, this year we couldn’t until May. Well, we started in late April but then had that problem with the check valve which delayed the opening. The water is still cleaning out some, but it’s much, much better. I do watch it and am in the pool only an hour or so during the day. I should own stock in Coppertone….lol
Penny – happy birthday to your husband. Yes, cake (especially the frosting) right out of the freezer tastes good
Heather – happy anniversary and birthday to Max. Good for you booking that trip
Zkj – anyone is welcome in the pool! Actually, Vince likes playing “mad scientist” and taking care of the pool. Scientist because he really likes making sure the ph, the chlorine, the salt and stuff is balanced. So I let him.
Felicia – Bryan lives (last I knew) on the island of LaReunion which if you’ve never heard of it is in the Indian Ocean near Madagascar. It’s part of France.
Lectored at the church today. I’m really not crazy about Mass on Sun, I’d rather go on Sat. night. But I was filling in for this one gal.
Terry - Cool boot!
Evelyn – We have a bosch dishwasher, too, and love it, especially the quietness
Page – welcome!
Penny – love that bear
Becca – your sister’s work is beautiful!
Youngster Sue – welcome! Great weight loss, and good for you counting your steps

Together we pulled lots of weeds in the yard. There are still a lot left. Jake brought out the radio so we could listen to the Mariners game (they lost).

Rebecca: Your sister's artwork is very appealing.

Lanette: I think the B12 is helping, but I'm not doing very well at home. It was a crummy day. A neighbor who thinks she is God's gift to gardening was pruning my camellia. It is Camellia Sasanqua Yuletide, and blooms in December and into January. I chose it because it can provide food for the hummingbirds who are here year around. I have told her repeatedly to leave it alone. In addition to the irritating neighbor, DH is very grumpy and it is aimed at me. He's worried about my health so I'm planning to make an appointment with my doctor for a check up and a chat. I want to be sure I'm doing the right things in taking care of myself. :ohwell:
Pity Party warning:
Today wasn't the best I've ever had. I'm hoping tomorrow will be better. I am no Pollyanna at the moment. I'm tired and grumpy about my neighbor, at odds with DH, and went out to the stable twice but didn't ride. The first visit was to learn the feeding schedule. I came back when they said would be a good time to work with Arrow, and they had just fed the horses early because it was a better time for them today. I did test the ability to get a message to DH. A text went right to him with no trouble. Yay! I can communicate with him if I need to, even though phone service from my phone company is not very good out at the stable.

Katla - sorry to hear about the difficulties with your neighbor! I'm curious as to what she said when you confronted her! Such bizarre behavior for someone to prune a neighbor's plant. I hope you and DH get things worked out
