@CMorning99 A 28:30 5k is a great time. Sounds like you had a tough field to race against!

@PastorVincent - I am in awe. I was sure after your crushing PR marathon, you would be physically unable to run with your wife to finish the race. That is a testament to grit, determination, and human willpower. I could not have done it.

Comming from the guy that ran through hypothermia to finish Boston when elites were dropping out, that means a lot. Thanks.

Absolutely gorgeous day for running - a lovely cool and clear autumn day. Unfortunately, the yoga session I did last night has left my legs a bit leaden, so it was a bit of a slow slog for me. Fortunately, I was able to relax and enjoy the day and didn't bother stressing about my pace - speed work, schmeed work.

    1 May: 11.64
    2 May: 6.0 + yoga
    3 May: 7.22
    4 May: Rest
    5 May: 6.6 + yoga
    6 May: 12.74
    7 May: yoga
    8 May: 6.72

    50.92 of 150km

@cmorning99 “Let me tell ya, if you ever need a confidence boost DO NOT run a 5K on a military base..”

I also wouldn’t recommend a 10K on a military base... they were picking up the course in front of us until someone forgot something and circled back and saw us.... then he rode his bike in circles around us the whole rest of the way.... not one of my favorite experiences, and I refused to repeat it. And it wasn’t even like we were snails, we kept a 12 minute mile pace. Now I look at how long courses are open as one of my race picking factors...

It's the shoes. Definitively. I'm annoyed about that. But at least today's run was completely pain free...

Feeling a bit deconditioned today though. It might be because we went from winter to summer with no in-between period. Also Garmin keeps telling me I'm overdoing it and going to kill myself even though these runs are easier than what I was running just 2 weeks ago. Meh.

My Fenix does something I can't read about the time my old 620 gave me a recovery check advisor. All I see now is that some negative number pops up. Maybe next time I'll stop and read it. It's probably not good.

Maybe the Garmin is slow to catch up? Or it's the heat. I don't pay much attention to numbers in the summer- it's all just torture endurance.

I think my Garmin is just confused by how hurting and slow I was on my first three runs with it. It basically gave me a really low baseline fitness level and now it is confused.

That or it's the heat. 24 C today during my run (27 mid-afternoon) when 2 weeks ago it was 10 C.

    24c... That's 24*9/5+32.... Um 225-9.. 216/5 ...um 43 eh 44+32... 76? Definitely warm for a run!

I know as it approaches 80f... Uh 80-32 *5/9....48*5 250-10, 240/9... Oh man I was never good at nine's... Uh.. 26 eh 27c, it makes running difficult

    Whew. Too much thinking.

Et confess. I had to use a calculator to double check my mental math an was wrong both times.

My Garmin is a great weather reporter. It said my vo2max dropped 2 points this past week when it was stupid hot all of a sudden, then miraculously jumped back up again on Sunday when it was 35 degrees (F) cooler. But while it was calculating my VO2max low, it was yelling at me that my training status was UNPRODUCTIVE! I think it just likes being a jerk.

That’s my experience though-when it’s hotter, my Garmin says I’m going to die and I suck. When it’s cooler, it says I’m a rockstar.

Hehe, well it looks better than 'got older', that's for sure. And it was chocolate peanut butter cup ice cream cake.
