Good morning, ladies. Weigh in this morning is 210.4. That is down from last week's weigh-in after being out of town for 5 days. I'm glad i'm back down to this weight on the scale. Seems like I can't get any lower than this, but i'm blaming that on my lack of exercise the past two weeks. I normally go to step 3x/week and walk at least one more. I have only been to step ONCE in two weeks. i'm slacking. Next week's exercise routine will be MUCH better.

update on the boy: he said he had a horrible day yesterday when i talked to him, so I invited him over and fixed him some supper. I think he's really missing his family because he was just delighted to have a home-cooked meal. He's a good guy, we will see what happens. As for getting a kiss after winning a bet....I've already got the kisses! that was the easy part.... (I don't think you guys realize how drunk i was when I met him originally. The fact that we have gone on a date AND came over last night is a big deal. I embarrassed myself beyond belief the night i met him, but he doesn't seem to care. haha)

I'm playing catch up this week with all the posts. I've been offline with a house full of sick kids and now I've got a nice summer cold. I swear that daycare centers breed disease. My daughter has only been in Pre-K at her daycare for two weeks and already they've had a case of strep throat and an outbreak of summer colds and flu. Ugh.

On a more positive note - I lost 1.8 pounds this week! My current weight is now 229.8.

    Challenge Starting Weight: 232.4
    1st Week Weight: 231.6

I'm sure my being sick the last few days had an impact on that, but it's still nice to see the numbers on the scale go down.

Thanks for house support! Just has me in a really cranky mood! But what lifted that mood?

215.8!! Yipee! We're headed back down! I even have a new picture to celebrate!

OK, gotta get some work done! TTYL!

Megan: I'm glad you get to continue getting to know the boy better! And if he doesn't care that you were a bit drunk when you met, I don't think you should be embarrassed about it. I originally picked The Hubbs up in a bar, u never know where things might lead.

Victoria: You are a calorie burning machine! Enjoy your company!

    Kendal: That's a loss, right? I think that's a loss...congrats!!

Annette: Hiya! Good to "see" you again.

So I got some of the stuff I ordered on the Interwebz (The Hubbs said it looked like Christmas - he is a bit over dramatic though). Here's some pics of some shoes and a shirt I bought for your viewing pleasure...

    DSCF0002-1.jpg
Some wedges I bought for the Paris trip. They are by Clarks and they are SOOOO comfy! (At least on the one foot I was able to try them on, they were comfy...stupid surgery)

    DSCF0001-4.jpg
Here's the wedges as seen from above. Don't you love my red toes? The Hubbs painted them for me after I got home from the hospital.

    DSCF0003.jpg
A new tank I bought for no reason other than it was $14 at NY & Co and I was already buying a cardigan there anyway so I figured, WTH.

    Happy Friday!

ETA: My images were all funked up

Amy, love those wedges! And the top is super cute. Also, kudos to the hubbs for painting toes! Too cute!

Okay... seriously... scale is at 223 on the nose again. FML. Honestly, can't complain.

Good Morning! I'm headed to the spa soon but wanted to hop on here and check in with my girls before I checked out for the weekend.

Stating my goal for next week:
Do the P90x schedule five of the six days
    Eat right

I am really going to need all your help. PLEASE push me, yell at me, kick my *kitten* so I do it. The Week of Grovel is over ladies!

Karen - deep breathes...deep breathes. I hear buying foreclosure houses are a nightmare and because now so many people are looking at buying them the banks have more leverage over the buyers than they did even six months ago. Patience..you can do this.
Also, I thought of something else that might help Mellie - aloe vera juice. Some are better than others, but it is also an emollient that could help her stomach/intestines not turn everything into acidicness.

Katie - I agree with everyone else. If Chicago is where you want to be and its only 2.5 hrs away then that is where you should apply for jobs. Any other place is in the wrong direction. Can you do a search for Curiculum Vitae (CVS) cover letters? Those are used by professors and artsy types more than resumes sometimes and it might give you a really good idea how to write your cover letter. I can be pretty decent with verbage, so if you want, I can try to help as well.

Amy - did you try acupuncture for that too? Hmm...never thought about that angle. Thanks for the input. I need to do something. Its the one thing in our marriage that really can cause issues once in a while. YEAY for a second car! And thosee wedges are super super cute! The top is cute too. I love that peach color. And I was shocked when Ideeli didn't have anything new today...but also thanking God for it as well lol.

Annette - SO glad to hear from you! I've been thinking about you and wondering how you are fairing. We will be in paris in about five weeks, and I hope you can come over for a day or so!

Victoria - hope your kitty is feeling better! Enjoy your company tonight.

Megan - I love my husband but will admit to missing that New Relationship Feeling. Enjoy it girl! i will live vicariously through you.

kwick2010 - when my daughter started preschool at this small school that goes through the fifth grade, the first year she got hand foot and mouth the first two weeks she was there, then the flu, then a cold, then ear infections, then strep throat, then a cold. She literally got every. single. thing that first year. Last year she got throwing up flu and a cold. Thank God. The first year I missed a day almost every week. Literally. It was horrible. I'd leave work crying because I was off again to pick her up and take her home.

    Karen - cute new pic!

Ookay that does it. Gotta get int he shower and head out! Have a good weekend girlies!

Well ladies, we're having gorgeous weather today here in WV, it's Friday, and tomorrow I'll be chauffeured around in a party van with 13 friends, tasting wine from 3 different wineries. It's a great day! Also I peeked at the scale today (I haven't looked all week, so I figured peeking today was okay) and it said that I've lost .6, even though this weekend is supposed to be TOM! Woohoo! The official weigh-in this week will be Monday though, so I'm crossing my fingers it doesn't go up before then. There will be a lot of wine drinking this weekend, so maybe I should cross fingers on both hands. :)

Amy, I'm glad you had better results with the Gigi! Last night I decided that it was about time for me to bring out my kit too, so that means that at least 3 on this board of us all "groomed" right around the same time. Ha! It's a huge pain to do and it still takes me A LOT longer to get the job done than when I get it professionally done (my lady is a no-nonsense Russian grandma-type in Pittsburgh and it seems like she must work at the speed of light), but I do like saving the money. Professionally it costs me like $90 including the tip, but I can get one tub of wax that lasts for at least 3 grooming jobs that only costs about $14. Talk about a savings! In other news, that's great that you're healing and that you'll have a 2nd car now so that you can go places during the day. Also, I love those shoes and that top! So great that your hubs painted your toenails after your surgery. :)

Nava, I'm curious about Rue La La, but since I already gave into ideeli I probably better not check that one out too. I'm right there with you about the shaving thing...I used to try that too, before I went to my current grooming technique. Didn't work for me AT ALL. The bumps were hideous, and it was tender for a week! Nuts. I think it's hilarious that you introduced the group to FUPA. :) I feel your pain on the job thing -- I like my job now, but the one before it was SO BORING. I usually had maybe 1 or 2 hours a day of actual work to do, and the rest of the time I was bored out of my mind. I liked the people I worked with, but the job itself was nowhere close to being fulfilling.

Lacey, I used to have the same problem with no drive when I was on the pill. That messed a lot of things up for me, body wise. I've never been to Bruges, but I've been to Amsterdam and I loved those canals! I also forgot to respond to what you said about Roseanne's Nuts -- I haven't seen it yet, but I just heard someone else talking about it who really likes it too. I think I'll need to check it out. Enjoy your spa day!

Kristina, good for only having a bite of cake! Nice resolve.

Kerry, way to take a stand on ideeli. I probably should've done the same thing. ;)

Karen, I know how you feel. I moved to West Virginia over a year ago, and I still don't have any close friends here. I have my friends in Virginia though, and I'm not the kind of person who needs to go out a lot or hang out with tons of people, so it's not so bad. Plus now I have you ladies too. :) I'm sending good thoughts your way about the house. Congrats on your loss!

Hosanna, I wish I lived near you so I could invite myself to your hen party. ;) You're going to have a great time. Yay about the weight loss!! Enjoy your mini vacation this weekend!

Nebraska, congratulations on only being 1 pound away from your September goal! That's great!

Bobbie, I wouldn't worry about getting the grooming done -- those professionals have seen all different kinds of FUPAs; they wouldn't blink an eye at yours. ;) That's great that you've made it to the point where you really notice it when you don't exercise. That means that you're doing things right!

Katie, that's great that the wife's is all about you going for it too. Might as well apply and see what happens! I've never used a professional service for a cover letter, but the last time I had to do one I got some ideas just by googling "sample cover letters" or something like that. It really doesn't need to be too fancy, just something that makes them want to take a look at your resume.

Annette, you can make that goal!

Victoria, I hope your kitten feels better soon. Enjoy your company tonight!

Megan, congrats on the loss! I bet you scored big points with the boy for your home cooked meal. :) Nice!

    Kwick2010, congrats on losing 1.8!

Okay, gotta go get some work done now....and daydream about upcoming wine....

Amy...those shoes rock. By the way, you all are bad for my pocketbook. I've been reading about all the great shopping you all are doing so i just "had" to find some new tops to take to Vegas with me (just like I'm sure i will find new ones to bring home as well.). Besides, I got a new green braclet for my birthday that didn't quite match any of the green tops I currently have. I had all kinds of excuses for why shopping was necessary as I drug my husband around last night. He carries a book with him everywhere for just such emergencies. :)

I guess I should have posted my weight here earlier today, I don't know why I didn't. I'm at 193.6 (it's only a 0.4 pound loss but with pretty much no real exercise, I should be happy with it - I'm NOT, but I know that I SHOULD be).

Katheryne: My Hubbs brings his Kindle and/or iPad wherever he thinks he might have to wait around for me. (I can't say anything though, I drag my Kindle everywhere)

Pam: Enjoy the wine tasting!!! I LOVE wines and am blessed to live in the part of Germany that is considered wine country. Yum! Don't go to Rue La La - you'll regret it (not because they have crappy stuff but because they DON'T)

Nava: I suggest we nut-punch your scale for being a jerk.

Busy bees again! My week from hell continues ladies. I'm beginning to feel like the Debbie Downer of the group. Trust me, I'm not always having such a horrible go of things. Hubby is still laid up at home. Brody is finally feeling better. So I left the house at 7:15 this morning to take him to daycare. He cried hysterically the whole way there that he wanted to go home. I knew I'd have trouble today as he was out all week. But, this was nuts, he was crying so hard he was having trouble breathing. I was so frazzled. We got to the daycare and I was trying to get him excited by telling him he was going to see all of his friends and get to play with them all day. He just kept screaming and huffing and puffing. I couldn't take him in the building. I turned around, drove home with him still screaming in the backseat. Grabbed a diaper bag, some snacks, and some toys and headed to work with my son in tow. Not. Fun.

After about an hour of being at work with me, he was bored and asked to go to school. So I took my lunch break at 9:15 am to take him back to school. He went right into his room and started playing with the kids. This week has been exhausting. I welcome the weekend.

Karen: I feel so bad for you and your daughter. I hate when the doctors can't give you answers. I try to avoid the pediatricians, as a visit usually comes with a script. I'm allergic to so many meds, that I fear Brody will also be. In December, he got his first ear infrection and they gave him amoxicillin. He got a horrible rash all over his entire body from his face to his feet that last almost three months. We saw three different pediatricians, a dermatologist and an allergist. No one could give us answers until I finally insisted on consulting my own allergist. Turns out it was the amoxicil (which I'm also allergic too). It was so scary. I pray he never needs meds again haha. Pretty unrealistic, I know.

Amy: I waxed my husband's eyebrows once, it traumatized him lol. He doesn't understand why women would willingly to such things. Those wedges are freakin adorable! And I love that red polish!!

Hosanna: Great job on the loss!

NebraskaMom: Keep up the good work, that is awesome!!

Bobbie: Once a month pay! Thats bananas. I don't think it works that way around here. Where are you from?

Lacey: I love Househunters Int'l. I can't start watching it or my life absolutely wastes away in front of the TV (or Audrey, as hubs has named her. "sexy, but classy.")

Katie: I don't know of any online cover letter/resume writing services. That being said, if you do go ahead and draft something up, I'd be more than happy to take a look at it for you. Good luck with the job search, it all sounds so exciting!

Megan: Your budding relationship sounds so exciting! Keep us posted!

On a side note, I can't believe the FUPA and grooming discussion is still going. Hehe. Out of curiosity, how long does it typically last before you need it done again?

omg. so much reading but I finally caught up. and now I forget everything that I read.

You ladies talked it up so much that I've started reading The Hunger Games. I also am borrowing The Help from a friend. I haven't started The Help yet but I don't think it'll be a big deal to hold on to that book for a while.

I got new contacts on Wednesday and staring at a computer still bothers my eyes. If I stare too long, everything gets a little out of focus and I get a headache. UGH. Ready for the weekend.

I'm in NC and everyone gets paid once a month, administrators down to the custodians.

I, too, forgot to weigh-in this morning: 329.6 Not where I'd hoped to be after last week's major loss, but considering this week's crazy eating, I'm not too upset with it.

Amy, that top is ADORABLE and you look awesome it. Love it. And the shoes also are very cute. Yay!

Pam, have a blast wine tasting! That will be me next weekend!

Lacey, you better do P90X next week. I'm ready to hound you as need be!

Kendal, I'm just about finished with the first Hunger Games. So. Good.

Rain, I am sorry your week continues to suck. I'll try sending some good vibes your way to see if next week can be better. I can't imagine having a cranky son in tow at work is very fun. boo.

KatheryneLynne, I LOVE that your hubbs has a book with him at all times to keep himself entertained if some sort of "you" thing comes up. That's adorable.

Ok girls, that's all I can see, so that's all I'm responding to. I don't have a ton of time but I wanted to check in.

I had all kinds of time this morning cuz I got up way to early, so I managed to rock some Kenpo, level 3 of 30DS (Pam, if you're not there, DON'T DO IT! ITS A *kitten*!), and then did some X stretch cuz it sounded like a good way to cool down. Maybe a little excessive, but if I want popcorn tonight, I've got the cals to do it. Or beer. I might cave. I've been awesome all week - just water and green tea, but I'm getting to the point where I would KILL for a diet coke or a beer. We'll see how long my fortitude lasts.

I've started looking into restaurants up north a little bit more and OMG food porn heaven. I am so excited:
www.stellatc.com/ We are DEFINITELY going here. We have reservations already. Its in the basement of an old mental institution! How great is that?!
www.lulusbistro.com/ This one doesn't take reservations but I think we will try and hit it up on Thursday night.
    http://www.philsonfront.com/ Lunch maybe I think?

And not to mention the beer! All of which have great food too!
    www.northpeak.net www.rightbrainbrewery.com www.shortsbrewing.com

I'm getting super excited about this mini vaca. I just may come back fat and happy. lol

Last thing for me today is weigh in - a solid 169. (woot! Adios 170s!)

Oh lord! This thread is manic! Every time I log on to MFP I try and read all the posts with the intention of posting a reply. I even started an excel spreadsheet to try and work out who everyone was and what their current issues are- I know- it's my inner geek/ control freak. You're allowed to laugh ;) But it's quite overwhelming. I feel like some weird creepy lurker type, reading all you guys' stuff and not contributing!

However I'll have a bash at jumping in-

Pam- v jealous of the wine-tasting... while recognising that wine is my downfall as it makes me HUNGRY!

Lacey- happy to help push you re the P90X whilst being really impressed that you're tackling it ;)

Amy- like you say- nice to have someone in European time zones. And I feel bad about the hours my boys spend on shoot 'em up games on the XBox/ PS3 etc. Biggest is 16- plays Halo, Call of Duty etc. Youngest is 9 and I at least try to limit him to age 12 games. And it doesn't make any difference about the weapon-friendy family...we're both English doctors! The hubby used to come home and shoot aliens after a tough day at work..... I reckon it's just a boy thing. When I show any distaste for the games, the boys go 'Mum...it's not real. It's only pretend!' Here's hoping *rolls eyes*.

    Kerry- love your pic!

Hailie- I started c25k the day after you. Not cool enough to post while doing it, though! I'm going to have to take it slowly, as I've suffered from really bad plantar fasciitis in the past, so have to try and rehabilitate myself. I might do each week twice, and rest as soon as I feel any pain. Fingers crossed.

Bobbie- emotionally good week is a good week in my book. At least it wasn't driving the bad food choices. Emotionally bad week guarantees a bad food week for me. :(

Katie- the situation with your job and your grandparents-in-law sounds awful. If the wife is feeling guilty for holding you back, take her blessing and go for it. If you're doing something that feels rewarding, you'll be better able to support her. And I guess she'll need supporting if she's nursing in and out of work. I'm thinking of starting a 12 step programme...Carers Anonymous... for everyone who spends their time running around supporting other peoples' needs and ignoring their own...

Hosanna- I'm in awe of you joining the group and jumping in like that! Wowsers. (V curious about your username, btw!)

Megan- oh wow. Karaoke on first date. And that was when you weren't under the influence! I love singing :)

Karen- feeling for you with Melodie's rash. It's horrible to see your little'un in pain and not be able to solve it. Wish I could help, but dermatology was always my weak point. I'd consider alternative solutions too, though. I think conventional medicine misses lots of nutritional stuff, for a start.

Fellow newbies- Rikki, kwick2010, Joann, rainvc, Qofsheba- looking forward to getting to know you

Kendal, Sarah, Laura, GonnaDoItJenn, Lauren, Sarah, Kristina, Annette, KathryneLynne- ditto

And for my own dose of TMI-
Nava- I am so with you and Karen on the trimmer being the way to go re ladygardening. Plucked chicken skin look is so unsexy. I 've only once tried waxing by a professional and was horrified by how painful it was. I should have known, because many years back, I bought a do it yourself waxing kit. Unfortunately, I made the mistake of heating the wax, melting it, putting it on both sides and sticking down the waxing strips without knowing what I was in for. I steeled myself, then yanked the strip off one side...and nearly died. I just couldn't bring myself to pull off the other strip, and was trapped in my room half naked, a jibbering wreck, trying to work out what the hell I could do to free myself from this piece of glorified paper. In the end, a combination of nail scissors, surgical spirit and a hot bath got rid of it without me having to repeat the self-mutilation thing. I reckon learning your limits is part of growing up! Call me a wuss, but...

I really hope I haven't missed anyone, but I am highly likely to have done. Please don't take it personally

    Ros x

PS Will weigh in Sunday, Kristina. Thanks for doing this
PPS Is anyone else having trouble with smilies, or is it just my laptop up the creek?

Amy-LOVE the shoes!! Top is cute too! I'm sure you're eager to be walking around soon!

Rosy-way to jump in! I used to take notes but now I just open 2 windows to reply to everyone. I'm definitely looking into ANYthing that will help my babygirl & her hiney! Esp since she's always so happy the rest of the time, well, she's bossy too, but a happy boss! LOL! And I'm only about a week ahead of ya on C25K, so you, Hailie & I should all be really ready to run full tilt in no time, right? :o)

Rain-hope the week gets better & the little one gets more excited about school! Mine always just waved bye mom & it was me left traumatized! *sigh* I still have one more to go through that with...right now she goes to the sitter's OK, so I'm hoping we'll be good.

And that's all I can see as I'm being too lazy to open a 2nd window right now. Plus the boss keeps coming out, so gotta be able to minimize quick! LOL! Been in a funky mood all day. Just really buggin about the house thing. I know I shouldn't let it get to me, but I'm already paying for the money in the bank to pay for a house that I don't have & that payment is slowly coming out of that money b/c we don't make enough to pay rent AND that payment. *sigh* OK, sorry, you're going to just get sick of me. I know it'll work out somehow, but I kinda just want it to happen...right now! :o)

    Weigh-in... 233.8

Amy - Actually after the last couple weeks of being around each other 24/7 I think we are both looking forward to at least one of returning to work and being 2 hrs away for a few days a week even sounds appealing. In all honesty though, I know it will be difficult, but it's nice to know that it can work. I'm glad to hear you are healing, at least enough to not need a babysitter. I'm glad that you will now have wheels during the day! We've been getting by on just 1 car for over a year now, although last April - December doesn't really count as the wife was not medically cleared to drive. Overall it hasn't been too hard, more of an inconvenience at times. If I get a job out of town, we will definitely need to get a second car, though. I like the shoes and the shirt.

Annette - It's great to hear from you! I'm sorry the chest thing is still causing problems. HUGS!

Victoria - You are a calorie burning rock star!

Megan - I'm in the same boat as you... I've been to the gym maybe twice in the past 10-14 days. Ugh. Next week will be better.

Kwick - Way to go on the weight loss!

Karen - Yay for cooperative scales!

Lacey - Thanks for the advice and the help! I've sent my first draft to a friend on facebook and will send you my second draft once I get it back and make any changes. As for Chicago, part of me would like to just go to Chicago now, but I'm trying to listen to my gut and I feel like I need to exhaust my non-Chicago job options first. I did look at some Chicago theatre job boards last night and nothing really jumped out at me. I'm in a place where I have enough experience for the part-time job postings, but not enough for the higher paying full-time postings. The in-between jobs typically get filled by hardworking part-timers already working there. Mostly, I'm concerned about moving to a place with an uber high cost-of-living with nothing more than a slightly more than minimum wage, part-time position. I'm going to keep checking the job boards on a daily basis and will apply to things that look do-able and see what happens. I give myself a month of *****footing about this until I just say f it and figure out how to MAKE Chicago work. I hope you had a great day at the spa!

Pam - Yay for pre-TOM weight loss! I'm not a wine drinker, but tomorrow still sounds fun.

KatheryneLynne - I love that your husband carries a book for shopping emergencies.

Rain - Don't worry about it. I think we've all had our downer weeks in this group. For me, this group is what has helped me maintain some sense of healthy mindfulness during my craptastic weeks. I'll send you and Lacey my second draft. I'll take all the advice I can get!

Bobbie - I've had jobs in which I was paid monthly and it REALLY sucks.

Kerry - Oh, you are making me hungry with all the restaurant talk! Way to go on the loss and welcome to the 160s!

Ros - I love the spreadsheet document. Don't worry about feeling like a lurker. It took me about 2 weeks to really be able to keep up and figure out what worked for me to keep up with everyone. This is also my 3rd challenge with these ladies and we are being TONS more chatty than the last 2. Usually there is alot of traffic for the first week then it slows to a more manageable pace but that hasn't happened yet. Just participate to whatever extent works for you. I think the 12 step group is needed. I finally talked the wife into seeing a psychotherapist last year when we found out she would need brain surgery (She had a Chiari malformation, surgery went well and she recovered quickly) and she has continued with it so that helps. I'm having trouble with smiles as well.

Jacquelin - We are always taking new members! We weigh-in each week sometime between Friday and Monday, whatever day works for you, and Kristina will post the chart late Monday/early Tuesday. Feel free to tell us about yourself... family, pets, hobbies, etc... and your goal for this challenge, I think we have five weeks left. Welcome.

So, as I mentioned above, I've sent a draft of my cover letter and resume off for editing advice, so I'm feeling a bit better about the whole job hunt thing. When I get done with this post I'm going to reward myself with Skinny Cow ice cream. I know we're not suppose to do that, but whatever it was an emotional thing for me. Other than that not much else is going on. We went shopping yesterday for dresses as we have 2 weddings to attend in the next couple months. As I suck at etiquette type stuff, is it completely inappropriate to wear an entirely black dress to a wedding? I'd probably wear red shoes and jewelry with it. I wasn't even THINKING about that until we were almost home. I tried on a bunch and some looked good on me just looking at the cut of the dress but the patterns/colors were screaming THIS IS NOT ME.

On a side note, being a lesbian is cool because taking your partner to go clothes shopping totally rocks. However, being a lesbian is NOT cool because both of you end up on the same TOM cycle and pre-TOM biatchyness on both sides leads to REALLY stupid arguments over literally nothing. And now you know.

Started Monday so I'm happy for a first week. But pizza was a bit of downfall tonight so I'm headed out to walk for 30 minutes.

    Started Monday at 200.

Katie, I'm not a lesbian, but I totally understand the beauty and aggravation that is having other females in the house. Lucky for me now, mom's had a hysterectomy, I don't get a TOM due to the IUD, and the girls are the only two *****y ones around. They will be leaving for college next week, and then they can deal with it with their individual roommates...lol I will, however, miss shopping with my partners in crime tremendously :-)
