I'm getting that "overwhelmed by the thought of upcoming events" feeling that makes me stop working out and eating like *kitten*. Tonight I worked until 6 and then came home to change in to pjs and eat three helpings of my cornbread casserole and drink a beer. No working out. Which makes me feel even more like a douchey slug.

I will be glad when this weekend is over because untilthe last week of august I have nothing. Then my mom is here for a week and it's going go be a struggle to work out. Its awkward and hard to do that stuff while she is here. Ugh.

Stop thinking and just do. Right?

Laura - Glad i could be of assistance  We are not the most eloquent of speakers... i'm usually quite well spoken, and people ask me where i'm from in england! hahaha! They can't believe it when i say i'm aussie born and bred. I've moved into the outback almost a year ago, and i'm starting to lose my well-spoken-city-girl-ness... Oh well, planning to stay out here a while longer, so may as well fit in! hahaha!

I just felt i'd add my two cents to the conversation about "THE TALK"... i was **SEVEN** years old when my mother called me into her bedroom and asked if i knew how babies were made. Thus begun a long education topic, including pop-up anatomy books and everything. the thing is, my mum was not well at the time, and doesn't actually remember doing it! I have, ever since, been fascinated by the reproductive system... not just because sex is awesome, but because i find it incredible that two cells can join together and make a whole person... haha i don't think mum knew what she was starting!! I'd love to be in a job to do with reproduction..., IVF clinics or something! Sucks that out here in the country there's not many healthcare opportunities!

Just realized it's Tuesday and I didn't weigh in this weekend for the group. OOPS! That tells you that it has been crazy busy with my trainings and back to school about to start.

I weigh in at 311.5 which is up 1.1 lbs. I am okay with that as I had a lot of out to eat last week and made some poor choices. I kept telling myself the next day would be better and then it was another restaurant and another story. I've been doing better this week and honestly can't wait to get back into the routine of work so that I can eat healthier and on a time schedule! :)

I hope everyone is doing well.

Good morning ladies! Check in for Tuesday: 1984 calories burned/ 1452 calories consumed/ 532 deficit. Today, I have done the super-fun chair aerobics (but I did it on a stability ball instead of in a chair) and I did a 20 minute pilates workout for the buns and thighs. I haven't done pilates in forever, I forgot how much it can hurt! It would be really cool if I could tighten up the butt and thigh area, though - for some reason, that is the LAST place I lose weight (first places I lose weight is the hands and boobs - sigh).

    Jenn: Get back on track!

Hosanna: I never got "the talk" but I have an ongoing dialogue with my 8 year old. He asks questions and I answer them honestly (and sometimes with diagrams for clarification). He originally thought that women give birth to babies through their butts, he is now aware of female anatomy and has a rudimentary knowledge of where babies come from. The only awkward bit of the conversation was an explanation of what the sex process is like for one of our friends (who happens to be a gay male - leave it to my kid to get the rough outline of the general sexual process to immediately ask how it works for alternative lifestyle people he knows...parenting is fun!)

Lacey: Take one day at a time. Take food one bite at a time. Do NOT give up. Keep at it girl! Bowling is a great birthday party activity. The Kid loves bowling! And I heart the idea of boot shopping in Paris, I'm ALL OVER that!!!

Laura & Hosanna: what are "maccas"?

Sarah: I loved the Hunger Games trilogy! I can't wait for the movie to come out next year! I also like Robin Cook but I haven't read anything by him in forever.

Karen: Homemade pizza is a weekly staple in our house. I couldn't survive without it.

Nebraska: Good job jogging, you should be proud of yourself!

Katie: The thing I miss most about working is daily social interactions with people I'm not related to. Yeah, sometimes that meant dealing with a-holes but mostly it just meant chatting about random BS. My recommendation is to find a group that does something you are interested in. For example: a walking group, a book club, a quilting group, a running club, a charity group that you care about. There are groups out there for anything. Pick an interest you have and Google it, I'm sure you'll find something.

    Have a great day, ya'll!

You ladies have turned into chatty chatterboxes... I'm struggling to keep up but know I'm thinking if you. At least I managed an hour of hill walking and running yesterday. TOM is winding down so my mood is improving. Have a great hump day!!

    Happy belated b-day to katherynlynne.

Amy - Seriously, in this society, the "sex process" of homosexuals should be as well taught as for heterosexuals. I plan to teach my future children the ins and outs (no pun intended) of sex for everyone. Yeah, i can be dangerously open - i'll probably be a super-embarrassing mum... Also, Maccas = McDonald's.

I had a great walk with my friend today. Another trip to the grocery store - i've started making lists of what we need as i find it, and then when my friend gets here i'll be like "can we go to the supermarket today?" Two birds with one stone, it means i don't have to go out again later!!
We also went out and found new zips for my bridesmaid dresses today. I bought the dresses off eBay, and when she tried hers on, the zip[ promptly broke. We decided it was a good idea to replace ALL zips before distributing the dresses - the last thing i need on my wedding day is the bridesmaids' zips not working!!!
And my flowergirl dresses are on their way. I'm pretty excited. We've ordered them a couple of sizes too big for the girls, since they're 7 and 9, and who knows how much they'll grow in five months! Other Half's oma is a great seamstress, so we'll just get her to take the dresses in closer to the date

I also just wanted to let you all know how glad i am that i found this group :ohwell: You are all amazing ladies, and so motivational and inspiring with the work you're putting in to everything you do! I also am finding myself thinking throughout the day things like "i wonder if Lacey's found a dress yet" or "I wonder how Megan's date went" etc.
Hope that doesn't come across as creepy! I don't really have very many friends to talk to, as i moved to a new town less than a year ago, and discovered that all my 'friends' back home really don't care that i'm gone, and i've only really made one friend here. Not that she's not awesome, and i've got Other Half, who i spend all my time with anyway! But i miss that feeling of hanging around with a group of girls just talking about whatever.

So yeah... That sounds a little weird, but THANKS!!! :ohwell:

Hosanna: I don't think that's creepy at all. I've been with this group since last summer (a little over a year, YAY!) and I consider these ladies my friends. No, I haven't met any of them in person (yet...I'll meet Lacey in Paris next month...YAY!) but that doesn't make them any less real to me. I am also in a similar boat as you with the lack of friends due to the same exact reason. I moved from America to Germany about a year and a half ago and haven't really made many friends here. So I LOVE this group and these ladies and I'm so happy that you do too! I also totally agree with you about the "sex process" thing being important to understand (which is why I explained it to The Kid when he asked about it), I just thought it would be a few more years before I had to answer that particular question. Ah well, now he knows and I'm really glad that he and I have an open dialogue going on about the birds and the bees and he knows he can ask me anything that pops into his head about the subject and I'm not gonna freak out on him over it.

Victoria: I am not jealous at all of your hill run/walk...nope...not at all....(yeah, I am...totally). But I WILL run again. I just have to get to walking first. I am soooo not a patient person and my tendency is to push through pain so it is SOOO effin' hard for me to sit on my butt and wait for my body to repair itself. (lame, I know)

Good morning ladies! Not only did I stay under cals yesterday, but Mr. Reunion and I went for a walk with Lexi  I haven't logged the walk yet. It was great. We went out at about 8pm so the sun was going down and it was still warm out. There was a beautiful sunset. I'd told him a while ago that I knew his "jog" would be a hell of a lot faster than my "jog" and he commented that I was so right about that. Doesn't hurt my feelings one bit. I don't expect my body to be able to do what his body can do. Mr. Reunion said he hadn't been on a walk like that in a good 10-15 years and he really enjoyed it. I also made him take Lexi and jog at his pace for a little bit. I liked pushing him like that.

I have too much going on in the next 3 weeks to try to start up c25k just yet. So instead I'm going to just continue my walks/jogs. Gonna get used to working out again and the first week of September I will start c25k. I don't want to jump back into exercising too hard too quick, so I'm not sure when I will re-start p90x again. Plus I really don't like working out at home with someone watching so I don't know how that'll work with Mr. Reunion staying with me an average of 6 nights a week. :ohwell:

Hosanna- like Amy said, it's not creepy at all how you feel about us cause I honestly feel the same about these ladies. They are truely my friends and I would do anything I could to help them if they needed it.

    Thirded!

Hosanna, REPLACE THE ZIPS! haha Last year, I was the "Best Ma'am" at one of my best guy friend's weddings... the zip broke ONE HOUR before ceremony. I had a flipping heart attack. The bride's aunt ended up sewing me into it! Also re: September babies, that's what I've always said... "people gettin' busy on NYE!"

Amy, I agree with what Lacey said. You should totally buy yourself some manner of awesomeness in Paris. That stinks that you never got to have those opportunities! That is the downside to eloping, I suppose... Maybe I can elope in Mexico then come back and have a party for friends... mom can't come. haha

Karen, my friends and I kinda all silently agreed to have amazon wishlists stocked with things we want for birthdays/christmases, so that's actually quite helpful. Never thought of putting appliances in there though... I sure could use a blender and toaster!

Sarah(thes), I love "yuck o'clock." Also, I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Hunger Games trilogy. Can't wait for the movie. It's either going to be totally awesome, or a total train wreck. I'm hoping the former. I was a bit displeased with the rushed ending of the third book, but overall, love them. The first book is definitely the best though.

Kendal, I seriously have to beg Joe to walk the dog with me. That sounds like a nice time. When he does walk with me (if it's too dark or something), it's SO nice... it's a good time to chat and catch up. Alright, that's settled. I'm making him go for a walk with me. I just wish it wasn't SO HOT OUT.

As for me, I'm working from home today, so I'll be in 100% control over what goes in my gullet. Yesterday, I didn't have time to pack a lunch so I ended up eating crap. Yay! I'm also thinking I may just have to watch Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest in the background... Hmm.

Laura: Congrats on being oh so close to Onederland! You will be there in no time at all!!

Lacey: I'm have ice cream woes as well haha. Its just so nice out and I love heading out to our local farm in the evening so my son can see the animals and get an ice cream. Most of the time I don't get my own, or I get a yogurt, but my son never finishes his, and I can't refuse the creamy goodness!! Also, my hubby is super helpful when it comes to taking care of our son while I workout, but sometimes I feel so bad when my baby just wants to cuddle. I feel like I'm away from him so much as it is (school, work) but I know I need to get healthy FOR HIM just like I need to furhter my education and get a better job FOR HIM. I hope he understands, but it breaks my heart :(

Hailie: Hope the review went well!

Kendal: Yikes, hope you don't run into baby mama drama. That would suck.

    Natalie: Welcome!

Megan: Yay for the boy! So so awesome that the date went well! Hope you have many more!

Anvy: You really are an inspiration. I don't think I'd be able to keep working out if I were down for the count like that. Kudos! Also, that soup and guacamole sound amazing. I wish my family would eat stuff like that. Aside from being super picky, my husband can't eat protein, so we are limited. Meals are challenging in our house. Also, baby showers are totally overrated. My MIL thought it would be a good idea to have my shower outdoors in August. It was scorching hot and I was nearly 8 months pregnant. She put up a canopy to provide "shade" but all it did was trap the heat. I was f r i g g i n melting. It finally started to rain, and I just sat in my little folding chair letting the rain pour on me while everyone scrambled to get the gifts and food under cover. I was like "ahhhh, thank the Lord" It was one helluva day. Don't get me wrong, I appreciated the gesture and certainly all fo the wonderful gifts I got, but sometimes my in laws need to use their brains! An indoor, air-conditioned shower would have been lovely. ALSO (you must have posted a lot :) ) I think it is great that your son thought of your gay friend after you had the talk. I'm sure it was awkward for you to answer those questions, but the fact that he answered means he is probably a very considerate, open minded and non-judgemental person which so refreshing. Far too often, kids learn hateful things from their parents, and tolerance is rarely a lesson taught at home. Great parenting!

LadyG: I also want to just wake up thin. If you figure out how to do it, let me know

SGC: Anvy is right. Nothing would get done. Mind you, my husband is a rare find. He cooks, a lot, and he does most of the laundry and even cleans the bathroom. He's super helpful. But on his day off, he doesn't think it is necessary to bathe our son. Sometimes he even takes him out without bathing him and letting him wear basically whatever, even if it doesn't match or isn't clean. Drives me BANANAS.

Kerry: Your beer posts crack me up. But, breweries are super fun. I used to live a few blocks away from the Yuengling brewery (the original, oldest in america one, not the one in tampa). When they would do brews on Saturday, you could smell the beer all through town and since the brewery is situated on a hill, there would often be excess beer running down the street! I think its hysterical when I go to a restaurant and Yuengling is listed as an import and you get charged an arm and a leg for it. At the bars in town near the brewery, you could get a draft for like fifty cents.

KatheryneLynne: Why thank you, now I want corned beef hash in the WORST way. Its going to be a rough week for me. Stressed + TOM = iwanttoeateverythinginsight... AND HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I officially want corned beef hash for MY birthday. lol

Katie: Big life decisions are scary, but I'm sure you guys know what you're doing! Best of luck!

Kerry: Your take on gift giving makes sense. I'm the oldest, and my sibling are really young. At Christmas, my hubby and I buy for our own son, my parents, plus my three siblings (12, 13 and 19). Right now they all buy us small, fairly thoughtful gifts, but I know if I did the same for them my mom would pitch a fit and say I wasn't good to them. I think sometimes she forgets I'm one of her children too lol.

Nava: I would totally register for a housewarming party!! You could always create a "wish list" as opposed to a registry!

Sarahthes: I'm so envious of you being able to workout BEFORE work. Wish I had that motivation! I used to, but I just can't do it anymore.

Slightly on the party front, slightly off topic....my husband and I were just discussing our son's upcoming birthday party. Every year is a nightmare (this is only his 3rd birthday by the way). We struggle to find a facility that will house nearly 100 people. 90% of which are adult family members. Then I have to cook for all the people (with no help from family, mind you.) Its ridiculous. This year, Brody has little friends from daycare and I'd like to give him a party at a venue he can enjoy. I'm ready to say screw you to all of the adults. Our mothers are big on the whole ettiquette nonsense where you have to invite all aunts uncles cousins and family friends. Most of which only see our son at his birthday party and maybe one other holiday. Don't get me wrong, the kid gets spoiled rotten by all of them and there have been times we left with two truckloads of gifts, however, I want him to enjoy his party this year rather than spending it in the church hall where there is nothing to do. So, we may have his party at a local pumpkin patch whre the kids can take a hay ride out to the patch and pick a pumpkin. Then have a cake and some simple deli trays at the pavillion. If the adults want to ride, they can pay the two bucks, but I'm not shelling out hundreds of dollars for every adult and cooking a huge catered type meal and not being able to enjoy his birthday this year. Call me terrible, but Bah Humbug!

I tried to reply to everyone, but there were 5 pages to catch up on! Yikes.

Yesterday sucked. As I mentioned, hubs had surgery. He is in a ton of pain but home and resting. I'm back to work today. Yesterday we planned on sending our son to daycare during the surgery. He woke up throwing up everywhere. I panicked. What was I going to do? I had to tend to my sick child, and be sitting in a waiting room while my husband was being operated on. How would I pull this off? My mom is on vacation and my inlaws both work. Fortunately, my FIL had no appointments and came and sat with the baby. He also picked him up at 7:30 this morning and is keeping him until tomorrow after work. They usually take him on Thursdays, but I'm glad he cleared his schedule for me. Once this semester starts, I'll be missing time at work, so I don't want to miss more than I have to now. Brody is feeling better, but I still didn't want to take my chances with sending him to day care. He'll go on Friday and call it a week. Poor kid. He only goes 3 days a week as it is, and I'm sure by Friday he'll be asking about all of his little friends. Tonight I have to finish doing all the laundry that resulted from the vomit, and I'm hoping hubs is doing well enough that I can sneak out to the gym or at least for a walk, since I won't have to worry about the baby. When it rains it pours though, yesterday was uber stressful.

This morning I did NOT weigh myself on the scale! Woohoo! I've been doing it every morning and it's been driving me nuts, so I'm trying to quit the madness. Later this week is supposed to be TOM, so I figured that now is as good of a time as any to not weigh every day.

I've been exercing less lately...still doing something almost every day, but not quite the intensity as before. I had been doing 30DS in the morning and running at night, but I just started getting bored. Also 30DS has changed in my head from "It's hard but I feel so hardcore afterwards" to "I can't believe I got up early and have to do this. Shut up, Jillian." I think I need to mix up my routine.

Okay, I'm going to try to catch up...even just a few days of not posting here is like a weeks worth of conversation!

Megan, yay for a great date! :drinker: That first date feeling is great. You got up and sang karaoke? You must be very brave or a fantastic singer or both! That's awesome!

Hosanna, will we get to see wedding pictures and pictures of these bridesmaid dresses? I love weddings, wedding planning, and all things relating to weddings. One of my good friends is getting married next month and I'm throwing her bachelorette party this weekend...or hen party, as you all call it out there, right? It's actually going to be a bachelor/bachelorette party; boys are allowed too! I rented us a big van/bus thing and we're going on a wine tour, doing tastings and hanging out at 3 different wineries (maybe 4). Can't wait! I think I'll be over my calories on that day...okay, I know I will.

Lacey, I hear ya. I've been working out less than normal too, and I hate that slug feeling. You're right, you've got to stop thinking and just do...I do too!

Kendal, it's great that you were able to get in your exercise with Mr. Reunion. Talk about making excercise fun! Good idea to take it slow before jumping back in too.

Sarah(thes), I love love LOVED The Hunger Games trilogy! I got the new e-ink Nook this weekend and gave my old Nook to my boyfriend, and the first thing he's doing with it is reading The Hunger Games. And great work -- getting up at yuck o'clock is hard enough, but getting up then to do P90X? Now THAT'S hardcore!

Nava, I know what you mean about the gifts. I've sort of just opted out of the whole gift thing altogether -- I don't expect to get birthday gifts from anyone but my boyfriend, and my friends don't expect to get presents from me either. The kid thing is weird, because I don't plan on ever having kids and I don't really interract a whole lot with my friend's kids either. Even with my niece and my boyfriend's nieces and nephews, we're just the aunt and uncle who live in another state and don't see them much. It was actually the same way when I was a kid too -- I saw my aunts and uncles maybe once a year (we never lived in the same state as them either), and I never got any presents from them, nor expected to. So we've wound up being the same way my aunts and uncles were...although they NEVER gave presents, while we sometimes do but it's not expected. On the one hand I have guilt because I feel like we should give presents, but on the other hand I don't think the kids miss them from us. They all get a TON of gifts, and they hardly ever see us. I know I didn't care that my aunts and uncles didn't give me gifts when I was a kid. About the calorie thing -- I've found that upping my calories definitely seems to make me lose more; maybe it can work for you too.

Nava/Katie, I like the idea of a party just to have one! I think the *acceptable* way most people do that without being Carrie Bradshaw is moving into a new place and having a housewarming party. But still, that's not the same as dressing up all nice, renting a place out, doing it up, and getting to travel on a honeymoon. If you can't or don't want to get married, you definitely get the shaft. I have a friend who always said that if she reached the age of 38 and was not married and didn't have kids, she was going to have a Carrie Bradshaw type party for herself and find a donor and raise a kid on her own. She's 36 now and met a guy this year who she is head over heels in love with though, so she might wind up going the traditional route after all...

Katie, I always wondered if I'd feel the same way if I worked at home. I am not a very social person (I love spending time alone), but I think if I didn't get out and interract with people at least sometime during the day it would eventually get to me. Maybe you could volunteer somewhere or something? When are you and the wife moving to Chicago?

Nebraska (sorry, I don't know your name!), great job on the jogging! It's a great feeling after you've worked out when you originally didn't feel up to doing it.

Amy, that is AWESOME that you're staying within your calories even without exercise. That takes some dedication!

Katheryne, pizza is my downfall too. My boyfriend and I are HUGE fans of pizza. We used to eat it more than once a week before I started MFP! Now...not as much. Oh, and happy belated birthday!

Hailie, how did your annual review go?

Kerry, I know you talked about this awhile ago (can you believe that your post from Thursday is now 7 pages back?! Whew!), but I'm sorry that your sister is going through a tough time. I got married young (21) and wound up getting a divorce at age 26 when I realized that we just didn't want the same things in life and were never going to be happy together. We are both MUCH happier in life now, but working up the courage to even start the divorce process was SO HARD, and going through the process was even harder. I can't even begin to imagine how much strength it takes to do that when you have kids. I hope things get better for your sister, whether or not she decides to ever get a divorce.

Rain, a pumpkin patch party sounds like fun! I hope that your husband and your son feel better soon...that's definitely a "when it rains it pours" scenario!

Whew! Okay, that's all for now...gotta get back to work! Hope you all have a great day!

I have a short reprieve this morning at work, so will try to respond to as many of you as possible-- chatty ladies!!

First, my check in for yesterday:
    1480 eaten / 261 exercise calories / 19 OVER... I'll take it.

Just dog walks yesterday, but I'm thinking about a run this afternoon if it's not too humid. I really need to get my run on. I made a red lentil thai chili, I've made before and a black bean and barley salad to help get my through the dinners and lunches this week. Happy hour tonight after work, but I'll probably only have one drink and leave.

Victoria- I think that's so great that you and your bestie have been friends for so long! A weekend vacation sounds lovely!

Rikki- sounds like your trip to SC will be great! Relxation ahead!

sgc205- great running goals! A few of us in the group did c25k. It's a great program, and congrats on starting your second week! Definitely an accomplishment. You'll be able to run a 5k in no time!

Megan-- EEE! a date?? Let us know how it went! Strike that... I just read how it went... going through the posts chronologically. So glad to hear it went well. *TWIRLS*

    Amy- your guacomole sounds fab!

Kerry- congrats on your ever lengthening runs! So impressed with you! Didn't you feel just amazing afterwards? And beer is delicious, especially on draft from all the yummy microbreweries in the state. I don't go to them all that often, so don't feel guilty at all when I do have a pint. I think the calories are worth it occasionally if it's on the good stuff. Now, using calores for a Bud Light? No way.

Missxlaur- so close to finishing C25K!! Fantastic! You're going to feel so accomplished when you're finished. Are you planning on trying to increase your distance after that, or work on speed?

Karen- keep us updated on how c25k is going with you! Lots of c25k-ers right now in the group!

Nava- birthdayapocalypse is a great name! my bunch comes in late Novemeber/early December when mine is as well, plus Thanksgiving comes in as well. It's an ugly time. Power through!

Katheryne- I agree with you on pizza. It was definitely my downfall on my recent lapse. I was eating it (and a lot of it) at least once this week and just couldn't get enough of it. I've decided it's just too hard to eat in moderation, so I need to abstain from it for a while. Also, my wallet appreciates not purchasing it either. and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Katie- nice to hear from you!! Talk about changes in your wife and your life!! Keep in touch with us. We've missed you!

Nebraskamom21- congrats on the run! How did it go?

Sarah- I read the Hunger Games trilogy earlier in the year and enjoyed as well-- pretty fast reads. Also, I totally used to devour Robin Cook books when I was younger. I used to want to be a "virus hunter" when I grew up. haha.

Amy-so far, I haven't had that much of a talk with the boys. They asked a few questions about babies when I had Melodie, but I only answered what they asked & never volunteered info. I figure as they ask, that means they're ready for it. I also had Mellie C-section, so I was more dealing with calming Aaron that I was going to have my tummy cut open than anything. That seriously worried him! They know that it takes a boy & a girl to have a baby, but no details yet. But as I always answer anything they ask, they're pretty good about asking when they want to know. I figure if I freaked out & got all embarassed, then they'd never ask, so it was easier to give them the info. Keeps dialogue open so that hopefully don't get one of those sullen, quiet teenagers later!

    Megan-YAY for awesome date!!

Hosanna-these ladies are awesome! I have a few casual friends, but they aren't on the same page as I am as far as fitness, so these ladies keep me going & I so desperately need it! Plus my two best friends are now long distance, so I only talk to them through phone/FB/email, etc, so I need all the support I can get. :o) Amy & I have figured out we're creepily a lot alike, but in good ways! Same anniversary (date AND year), about a week apart in age, her one son averages out my sons' ages, and we like a lot of the same books, movies, etc. Plus one of my BFF's names...Amii! LOL! But the rest of the ladies just make me feel happy inside just to talk to them, even if their posts aren't directed at me, b/c I feel as if I have someone to talk to!

Kendal-yay for walking! Enjoy C25K, hopefully the slow buildup won't be too hard on your foot. And WTG for getting Mr Reunion running too! LOL!

Nava-I have an amazon wish list, but it's all full of exercise stuff I want! LOL! Or can't decide on a brand as I shop, so I add it & then tell the hubby to narrow it down for me! I've had my 2 BFF's that I get gifts for for about 17 years now, so I don't really have to think too hard to shop for them. And the one only has the one daughter, who's 13 & just wants clothes, so gift cards are her gift of choice right now. LOL! Makes life easy! And sometimes taking that walk after it's dark helps with the heat, that's what I did with my C25K. I wait til 8 or 9 to go. :o)

Rain-parties are meant to be fun, not about stress, so you do what YOU want!! We have several mini-parties around birthday time due to my parents & the hubbie's parents being divorced, so my kids get 3-4 mini parties each. Makes it interesting! And we choose ONE of those to have 1-2 friends over to do whatever they want. Casey's last party was just playing Harry Potter Scene It & having cake & ice cream. But they loved it! The pumpkin patch sounds SO cool! We do that for our church fall festival, but all of my kids have b/days in Jan/Mar/June, so not an option for them. *sigh* Hope all gets better with the kiddo & the hubby recovers quickly! *hugs*

Nothing new for me. Melodie has another Dr appt today for her hiney. The "magic butt cream" & taking fiber hasn't helped. I'm thinking there's GOT to be something that's internal that's making her have so many issues. We'd switched her to lactose free/fat free milk. And frozen yogurt instead of ice cream. But she still gets cheese sticks occasionally. Dr said it sounded like I was doing all I could to help her, but she's just not staying better. She heals, then gets worse again. I'm so tired of having her scream every time she goes potty. Breaks my heart. :-(

On a better note, boys are back in school as of today. They're both excited, so that's good! :o) I think my hubby is ready for the break! Esp with Melodie still having her issues. OK, better get some more work done! LOL! *hugs*

Kristina-you posted with me! LOL! 19 over is still not too shabby chica!! And I'll definitely keep posting on C25K, at least on FB, but I'll try to remember on here too! LOL!
  • Hi Ladies!

All right, a me update first:

My annual review went pretty rocking, I got a $0.25 raise, yayyyy for making almost $11.00/hour! My downfall is a kid had sliced his toe and the mother asked me if we had to fill out an incident report. Well, I have been subbing for people and have never had to deal with first-aid. I had to run inside and get the head guard and ask if we had to do an accident report. Well, at first look the kid had stubbed the toe and the toe nail split so it was more then "hang nail" bleeding. When the head guard went out to look at the kid's toe the mother had cleaned it all up (she offered to do it instead of me). So, I felt and looked like an idiot. This relates back to my annual review because I need to work on my life guarding "regulations" A.K.A. more confidence on first-aid, the policies, etc. Also, I have to be more outgoing especially when I first meet kids during lessons. That's hard for me because I am in my shell. *sighs* Also, remember my "rage calories" the other day about not treating your kid like the second coming of Christ? Ok, here is what happened......I was lifeguarding indoor and water aerborics had a class going on (which closes off 3/4 of the pool). There was a mother sittting on the steps with her infant while she was watching her son (I had him in swim lessons and he's autistic) a few feet in front of her playing in the water. Close to them were three kids ALL with kickboards. The three kids were jumping strainght ON TOP of the kickbboards. I asked them not to do that because one of our policies is "you can't stand on the kickboards". Well, jumping on TOP of a kickboard is like the same thing, they kept slipping out from under the kids and didn't have good control the of the boards. I did all of this pilotely. Then, they were "bodyboarding" into the water.....(it was SUPER BUSY IN THE CROWDED 1/4 of the pool) so, once again I asked them nicely not to do that BUT I offered a suggestion on how to do the same thing BUT with more control. I told them to hold the board straight out in front them instead of on their bellies. (When the boards were slipping out from under them it was hitting the mother with the newborn/autistic child.) The children had no problem with it and completely understood that it was busy and they needed more control. THEN the mother decided she had the NERVE to tell me "a lifeguard told them last week it was completely fine to have the kickboards under their bellies. Maybe you guys should get together and understand your polices better." WTF woman! I know the policies! I talked to the lifeguard who said it was ok last week for the kids to have the kickboards under their bellies.....guess what!?....THERE WAS NOBODY ELSE IN THE POOL!!!!!!!!!!!!! *face palm* Did I mention this mother was a talk on the black berry and don't give a crap about my children type of mother!?

Kendal: I bet a little Kendal would be adorable! Do you want to be a mother when the time is right?

Lacey: I hope the husband is better now. I'll try not to pull too far into my shell. I sent you a message last night from my droid, I hope you got it.

Karen: I work at a private club, so some members think they are "all that". You're my freakin' hero for C25K! I will be starting it soon, any tips!?

Megan: Hope the date was amazing!

KatheryneLynne: Hope you had a good birthday! :flowerforyou:

Amy: Parents can be really lame. I decided we should be a super hero with our amazing tan lines, our face is super dark but with a sweet white line across the eyes because of glasses!

Hosanna: I am jealous of you being "down under"! Hahaha, Google is the best thing ever to help with spelling!

Sarah(thes): What sort of summer camp? I've always wanted to work at a summer camp.

Rain: I love your profile picture!

Pam: I love your profile picture! Great job and NOT weighing-in this morning! The annual review was pretty rockin'!

Kristina: Is there a good gym close to The U?

All right, I need to get going with my mother!

    P.S. Sorry, for spelling errors!
  • WOW…It took me almost an hour to just read through the posts this morning; jotting notes on what to respond to.

Thank you all for the birthday wishes. I greatly appreciate it, and as far as birthdays go, not bad. I went way over on my salt (the downside of corn beef hash—though it is super yummy), but I only missed my calories by a couple hundred. Not the best, but considering what I used to eat before, not bad at all.

Lacey…hope your husband wasn’t silly enough to further enrage you. And hope he was smart enough to figure out he screwed up.

Karen/Sara/Pam…pizza is definitely my favorite food. The way I get around all of the extra badness, when I make the effort, is by making portabella pizzas. It is two large portabella mushroom caps, I fill the cap about half full of Ragu pizza sauce, a little bit of mozzarella cheese and a serving of Hormel Pepperoni divided between the two caps. Then I bake it in the oven. It tastes just like the toppings off of a mushroom/pepperoni pizza.

Karen/Hosanna…7…third grade….I couldn’t imagine getting the talk then. I was only concerned with clapping games and hopscotch. However, I must say I LOL when you said they used pop-up-books. The images of that came to mind over that were absolutely hilarious.

Megan…glad you’re date went well. Karaoke, I’m impressed. I would die of mortification at the mere thought of singing in public.

Hosanna/Amy…I’m with you on the friend front. When hubby and I moved from Kentucky to Alaska I quickly found out exactly how much effort my friends were willing to put forth on the long-distance front. So, up here I have acquaintances, but not a lot of people I’d hang out with after work. Mostly it’s just me and the hubbs.—good thing I really like him 

Pam…since you like weddings so much, I am more than willing to give you my sister duties. My sis is getting married in Oct. and dealing with crappy dresses, food choices, idiot family members (not my sis), venue problems, and priest drama is driving my batty. I spent 2 hours on the phone with her last night while she cried about cakes and priests. You can have it; I’ll take my sister back on Oct 16…the day AFTER the wedding.

Rain…a party idea…roller skating. My aunt used to rent the roller rink each year for her two kids—they were born 11 months apart so their birthdays were the beginning and the end of March—She would rent the rink…that way all the kids were busy and not under foot. Plus, the active adults tended to skate, and the less active adults wouldn’t even come sometimes. They would just have a big sheet cake and a couple gallons of ice cream so the cost didn’t get too bad. An added bonus…after skating for two hours all the kids went home to take a nap.

Hailie-"love" those types of moms. Makes me wanna slap 'em. And those kids are the ones that I'll end up seeing at work in police reports later in life! *sigh* I think you handled it very well, so keep up the good work.
As for C25K tips...I know having Casey with me has kept me motivated to keep going, but as for when I run, I have my music going, my app that can track how far & fast I'm going (I use IMapMyRun-which connects to the website & lets me post to FB) and my app that tells me when to run/walk, etc (use 5K Runner-free). I have to start them in that order too, or I found out that it doesn't register the distance if I don't actually hit start on the IMapMyRun or tell me when to run/walk if the 5K Runner isn't the one "on top" & open. I know the IMap is supposed to tell me how many calories I burn, but I don't think it's that accurate unless I buy the accessories that can attach to my phone to make it into an HRM...which would be cool, but I'm winging it for now. :o)

Katheryne-what part of KY did you move from? I live in Owensboro, 2 hrs west of Louisville. :o) Not too small, but we go back & forth with Bowling Green for #3 biggest city in KY, so :o) Just big enough to have some stuff, but not so big we get too much crap either! Glad the b-day went well! Hope the wedding stuff gets better!

Okay I just bought two mor dresses. One is a Donna Rico pleated dress in beige, siz 14. I a m hoping it will both fit, look good and be good for work party in Italy.

Somehow I missed the sex topics above...my mom did NOT talk to me at all about sex. Ever. When i got the pamphlet in the 4th grade about periods I asked her questions and she freaked and clammed up and that was it. Then when I got my period in the 7th grade, what I got was...and this is word for word, still remember it to this day "you want to put your pad about up to here (hands showing where on her pelvic area in her long night gown) so you don't bleed through" and that was it.
Gracie has already somehow figured out that boys and girls have sex after they are married. I am not sure how, but we don't let her watch any adult movies that might even hint to that stuff anymore. And she doesn't know how it works so not sure on that. I was shocked when she wanted Luke Skywalker to marry Barbie so they could have sex three months or so ago.
We've already talked about how men can love men or women and vice versa and will continue to answer and explain as much as she needs to know about anything in that regard. I worry a bit about her going to a Christian school that they might impress upon the kids that only men and women can be together, that would make me flip the F out, because its not their place..but when I asked them about that when I was first considering the school they said they promote the Christian Morals and Principles of friendship, love, etc..but never touch on the those more serious aspects of the religion, that is for the parents to address. We are as open as we can be without giving the dirty details away. Trying to explain it to her four year old mind, not the adult mind.

Good Lord this thread is BUSY today with lots of long posts!!! Just gonna bump now so I know where I've read up through.

Kendal: I bet a little Kendal would be adorable! Do you want to be a mother when the time is right?
yes. I want several kids, when the time is right, of course.

YAY MEGAN! It's so nice to see someone have a good experience on a date

Kristina: Thanks for the support! I plan on increasing distance and not really focusing on speed. I'm going to do Bridge to 10 K, and my goal is to be able to run a half marathon by this time next year :)

OMG - everyone is super chatty today!

Lacey: Your mom and my mom were of the same school of thought on the sex topic. My mom ignored it and hoped it would go away. It kind of backfired on her though when my brother knocked his girlfriend up at 18. Maybe a little talking could have prevented that. I, too, have made a couple more dress purchases. I bought this super cute cable knit sweater dress on ideeli http://www.ideeli.com/events/52726/offers/2009526/details_popup (I seriously love/hate that site - I love it cuz the deals are awesome and I hate it cuz I probably shouldn't spend the money). I also got an amazing purple (my favorite color) Kenneth Cole pullman style suitcase on that site. It was only $80 - ridiculous. I've been looking for a brightly colored suitcase the whole time I've been here as every single time I find myself at an airport baggage claim I want to kick myself for having a black suitcase like everyone and their dog. I TOTALLY saw those cute capes on ideeli too, but I managed to resist. (so far)

Hailie: I hate when people don't realize that the world doesn't revolve around them. I think you handled the situation really well.

Karen: I love how bizarrely similar we are.

Kristina: 19 over isn't a big deal - it's still a deficit overall. Enjoy happy hour (not too much, though).

Pam: it's really hard for me to not weigh myself every day. Much props to you for resisting the scale1

rain: You should definitely do something less complicated for your son's birthday. You should be able to enjoy the day with him and not spend it "entertaining" all the adult guests. A pumpkin patch sounds like a lot of fun.

Nava: Yay for working from home!

Kendal: I love going on dog walks with The Hubbs and the dog, especially around sunset. It's just nice and relaxing and peaceful.

So, I spent more money that was a good idea today but I feel really good about my purchases. I'll avoid ideeli tomorrow...maybe.

I will be glad when this weekend is over because untilthe last week of august I have nothing. Then my mom is here for a week and it's going go be a struggle to work out. Its awkward and hard to do that stuff while she is here. Ugh.

Stop thinking and just do. Right?

YES! Just do it! I've been there - my mom, dad, and Chris sitting a the dining room table in our open concept house while I do legs/back/ab ripper and they all watch me sweat like a crazy person. But its worth it. And I like to think that its more awkward for them, cuz after all, THEY AREN'T WORKING OUT, so clearly, I'm the bad@ss in that situation.

Lacey - I never really got into Sex & the City. Sarah Jessica Parker just drives me batty. I'm with you on the being overwhelmed. It just totally shuts me down.

Hosanna - For the wedding registry maybe you could suggest things that would be "upgrades" on items you already own. Yes, I own cookware, but they are mis-matched and there are a number of sets that I've wanted but didn't want to part with the money as I already own usable pots/pans. Or, MATCHING towel sets for the bathroom. Ok, I just came up with several other ideas that include the word matching... I'm seeing a pattern within our house. If I remember correctly, did you say you are a nurse? If so, what specialty?

Karen - I like the pizza toast idea. What kind of bread to you use that is only 35 cal/slice? As for having a give-me-stuff party, it's mostly me being bitter because I've shelled out money (that I barely had) to buy my friends things I've want for myself and still don't have. I know I sound like some materialistic, greedy person with that last statement, but it's my inner poor child. I also LOVE giving gifts so I always came up with the money somehow AND made sure it was something really nice that I would want for myself.

Sarah(thes) - Way to go on keeping up with the P90X and the XL!

Jenn - I had the same problem the last couple weeks regarding no routine and consequently eating poorly. I've done better the last two days, but I'm still trying to find a routine. I'm sure things will even out and the eating will better once school start.

Amy - I totally get the need for social interaction. With the job I quit, I had so little interaction I have pretty much already exhausted my social options, as there is SO little here even with a population of around 80,000. I've been searching for a book group for almost 2 years with no success, the community theatre group was full of pompous psychos, etc... I've decided to branch out to a university-based city about an hour away. I'm not crazy about the drive but the people there are definitely interested in more than drinking their lives away, which is about all I can say for my current location a.k.a. my hometown.

    Victoria - Hi!

Hosanna, Amy, Kendal - Actually, what's kind of funny is that I've gotten to the point where I'm referring to the ladies in the group when I'm talking with the wife. She's gotten to know you just through our conversations.

Megan - Sounds like a really great date! Hope he's a keeper.

rain - Those birthday parties sound freaking ridiculous! I can understand having the family over for the first birthday or so, but there comes a time when you have to say, I am going to enjoy my child's birthday. Besides now that he is old enough to start understanding what is going on his party should be about him, not the family. If he has friends now, let it be about him. I'm glad to hear the surgery went well and I hope things calm down soon.

Pam - I feel the EXACT same way about kids and gifts. I don't plan to have kids and the wife is ok with that. We both have nieces and mine gets spoiled rotten by my brother and my mother so I don't feel bad not getting her something. Unfortunately, the wife's four nieces get very little due to a really f-ed up family situation, so we usually go a little overboard on Christmas. As for Chicago, we are hoping a year from now. I need to get my butt in gear and communicate with a theatre that is about an hour away and see if there is anything I can do with them to occupy me and gain more recent theatre experience.

Hailie - I'm pissed just reading the story about the mom. Sometimes people just annoy me and I want to hit them. I totally think you would have been in the right if you had "accidently" tripped her and she fell in the pool.

    Tuesday Check-in...1984 burned / 1474 consumed / 510 deficit - No exercise <- feels like a slug

I feel like the world is trying to tease me. I find/hear about a possible theatre job in the area, then oh no sorry not qualified. The most recent... I'm not a student at the university. The only one I found in "downstate Illinois" that I AM qualified for is 2.5 hrs away, not really daily commute distance. GRRRRR :grumble: So, the search continues.
