Congratulations @kristinegift on your 10k and AG place! That is fantastic. Figures those young kids would beat up on their elders. But that is pretty amazing, over 1 min/mi faster than 2nd place. That is some talent right there.

Glad you are feeling better @Jthanmyfitnesspal. Yeah, running improves everything ;)

@mbaker566 That is one sogged up pup!

My 3 miles this morning felt fast to me, but weren't really, although I'd have to look at the data from recent weeks to see if it was actually faster than what I've been running in the morning. I opted for my 3 mile route instead of the 3.6 route I usually like to run on Mondays. With my long run yesterday, I wanted the simpler path. The longer route also has some good steady climbs that I usually love, but not today...

OK, I was so excited that my husband was at the finish line of my race, I forgot to turn off my Garmin FR25 and have got a chunk of extra aimless wandering around data that I don't want. I know how to trim the data in Strava, but is there an easy way to do it in Garmin Connect too?

@kristinegift - Congratulations on your race and AG place! Awesome!
@mbaker064 - your pup is soaked! Hobbes should love the water but not so much. He tries to hide under the bushes :)
@sarahthes - Have you tried looking back at when you have the GI issues to see if you can determine what is causing it? I now know several things that just don't sit well for me to run the next morning. The dehydration can also cause it/make it worse I think.

No sightseeing pictures today but it was bright and sunny with a nice breeze. It did seem very humid to me and my sun glasses kept fogging over (anyone have a home remedy for that?). It was not raining so I guess the humidity was lower but still humid to me. Below is the route I ran today. Saturday's run was similar but I went off in other directions a bit more. I am going to miss running here but my DH and I have decided we really want to come back again for a vacation to do/go what/where we want to.

Managed a slow 3.0 mile run this morning. My left heel is still giving me problems, thinking I am going to have to go to the doctor and see if it is plantar fasciitis. My biggest fear is them telling me I cannot run for 6 months.

Louisiana Marathon Quarter Marathon - 01/13/2018 - Done
    Mardi Gras Mambo 10K - 02/17/2018 - Done

Thanks for the encouragement, @shanaber! This is my first year balancing weight lifting and running, and so of course I ALSO decided to make A Project of getting my yard in order for the first time in years, so it's kind of like juggling bricks (to line the new flower beds that I still need to turn) while balancing a new day job with OT coming down the pipe any day now, can't forget that! I decided this morning to go ahead and drop my third lifting day for a fourth running day and I think that was the right call, at least until the bulk of the yard work is done. I feel better balancing short runs with yard work than with lifting. I'd been planning on buying a rack and barbell in June and hiring a trainer for a few sessions to get me going, but suddenly I'm wondering if I should put that off until fall. We'll see.

@BruinsGal_91 if you go to your activity and click on the gear (Edit), you can change the distance and time (among other things). So you can shave off the last xx minutes and xx distance to match the end of the race.

    May 2 – 5.2 miles
    May 6 – 13.3 miles
    May 9 – 6 miles
    May 10 – 4.65 miles
    May 11 – 6.03 miles
    May 12 – 12.05 miles
    May 14 – 5.07 miles
    May 16 – 5.01 miles
    May 18 – 7 miles
    May 19 – 10 miles
    May 20 - 4.65 miles
    May 21 – 5 miles

@BruinsGal_91 – Congratulations on your HM. I’m so impressed with your pacing goal. This race is definitely going on my “racecation” list!
@kristinegift – Way to go on your trail race and AG placement! Sounds like it was fun.
#MobyCarp – Congrats on your fantastic time and AG award as well. Love the Brooks bag!
@sarathes – Those were some tough hills – good job!
@girlinahat – thanks for those beautiful pictures from your run. I love that you can take a train to a destination and then make your way back on foot. I visited Ghent Belgium a couple of years ago and loved being able to hop on the train to Germany, Paris, Brugge and Amsterdam for the day.
    Welcome @Tracydhc!
@mbaker566 – love the doggie pictures!
@shanaber – I’ve never run in DC but would love to when I have the chance. My co-worker’s son was on a field trip in DC last week and it rained on them every day. He was not a happy camper!
@bride001- I hope your heel isn’t anything serious but please go get it checked out. The sooner you know how to treat it, the sooner you will heel (pun intended).

Ran the hilly route this morning with the group. I usually don’t run 4 days in a row but I’m heading to Costa Rica tomorrow on vacation and I’m not sure how this SW Virginia girl will handle running in the tropics. There will be lots of hiking and exploring so I’m not too worried if I don’t get a run in for the next week.

    Upcoming Races:
    June 16 – Run the Gate 5K
September 7-8 – Blue Ridge Relay
October 20 – Cherokee Harvest Half Marathon
November 11 – Rock n Roll Vegas Half Marathon

@mbaker566 aww, your poor wet dog looks miseable! Kudos on going out in the rain!

@BruinsGal_91 The only way I can think off is to export the gpx file from Strava, and than upload it to Garmin. I think Garmin does not offer cropping.

@shanaber Do you have shaving cream in the hotel? Rubbing a tiny but on the lenses and then wiping them clean with fabric helps a bit against glasses fogging up.

    ---

Holiday here, yay! Despite that, I only ran 4.7km. But I have a great excuse: I went hiking in the morning
Up and down a mountain. It's not a long hike, but a rather steep one: 880m elevation over 3.7km (= ~2900 feet in 2.3 mi). So an average slope of 23%, but it starts a bit steeper, eases up around the middle and finishes with some nice 30%+ climb at the end. The weather forecast said it would be 15°C (60F) in the valley and 5°C (40F) on top, so I started in a long-sleeved shirt and had a fleece vest plus a rain jacket in my backpack. But it felt a lot warmer, so I ended up doing most of the hike in a tank top. I was still glad for the fleece during the pick-nick break on top, once we stopped moving it got cold really quick.
I should also do the last workout of my current fitnessblender-programme tonight, a 33min lower body workout. But I have the suspicion that the hike back down from the mountain was enough to make my quads super sore tomorrow, so I think I'll postpone that a bit if I want to be able to walk down any stairs at all

I used the lazy evening to finally update my ruunning diary, which I hadn't done for an entire month! (Have I mentioned already that the last couple of weeks were a bit crazy at work? ...). So now I finally have my total for April (110.5km), and my current total for May (67.2km). Last year I had twice the distance... But I'll be getting back on track now! At least for the next two weeks, then I'll be on vacation.

@shanaber I did have a banana post-race yesterday and those don't always sit well but usually the effect is more immediate, as it were. I woke up feeling off in general this morning - it took about 90 minutes before food was even appetizing. That's pretty unusual for me. But it's also been stinking hot (for Canada in May anyway).

I have a 10.4 km run from Friday evening to report as well as a short and slow 4.34 km from today. Glad to find the time and energy to get a little bit of distance in while traveling this week! Brings me to 119.4 for the month, with just 30.6 left to go to hit my goal of 150 km! :)

It was so nice to be outside again today. Goodbye and good riddance, wet weather! I did two nice miles (and a quarter-mile cool down).

18.75/10 miles for the month (26.25 forward motion)

Okay. Had a sec to pull the data out of Garmin Connect:

    5/21/2018 2.99
    5/20/2018 9.02
    5/18/2018 4.06
    5/16/2018 3.61
    5/15/2018 4.92
    5/14/2018 3.61
    5/12/2018 3.2 Treadmill
    5/11/2018 3.63 Treadmill
    5/10/2018 3.7 Treadmill
    5/9/2018 2.12 Treadmill
    5/8/2018 3.61 Treadmill
    5/7/2018 4.1 Treadmill
    5/4/2018 3

    MTD 51.57

Missing two weeks of long runs really lowered my mileage, but proud I stuck with the treadmill while on vacation. Not sure I'll hit 80 this month, but that's okay since it was so screwy.

@Teresa502 - It was pouring and windy when we arrived and Saturday was wet in the morning but then it got pretty nice. Sunday for graduation was in the mid 80's and today high 70's. I was happy and excited to run in the rain (California thing you know ? :) ) but even today was nice despite the humidity.
@_nikkiwolf_ - Thanks for the tip. My DH did have shaving cream so I could have used it. I will remember it for the next time for sure.

I am counting today as 3. My running intervals only lasted till about 2.25, but I still had to walk home. I am fairly certain I had a physical manifestation of negative thoughts. But my ankle protested badly, and so I aborted the running bit to stay on the safe side.

It also still fascinates me how different a “good” diet is for mostly running vs mostly lifting. Food today would have fueled a lifting day nicely. I think it was poor fuel for running.

    ETA- 3 today = 20.5/30

Tonight's group speedwork was 2 minute intervals x 6 with 1 minute recovery between. I forgot to restart my watch for the sprints at the end so I only got "credit" for 1 out of the 4. Hate that! Ah well.

Beautiful night but a bit humid. We had a nice treat of popsicles after which really hit the spot.

I'm not sure if anyone in here listens to My Favorite Murder but there is a virtual 5K formed by fellow fans. A portion of the fee goes to End the Backlog, which is a really great cause founded by SVU's Mariska Hargitay. The theme is This is terrible... keep going which was said on the show but really does apply to running as well. :D

    https://www.eventbrite.com/e/this-is-terriblekeep-going-murderuno-5k-tickets-44724662670

If you get the FOMO package you also get the SSDGM shirt from last 5k.

    that's one LONG drive @kristinegift !!!

when planning that sort of drive how do you work your stops? Last year I drove up to the island of Mull, which was a mere 330 miles, and I planned stops every 100 miles. I gave myself about 20 minutes at each stop, and made sure I walked about (hard to plan runs round gas stations here). Later I realised that I should have done stops based on time rather than miles.

On the way back, as I'd barely slept and was concerned about some weaving I did early on in the drive back, I made myself stop every 1 and a half hours, push my seat back, and sleep for 20 minutes. That got me and every one else on the roads home alive.
