Happy Father's Day to all the Fathers! There is so much I wish I could have talked to my Daddy about. But, he was a stoic man and not very open to airing feelings.

Sue: Thanks for your good wishes for the RV. We used to love cruising in our sailboat. DH can't balance well enough to be afloat any more so this seemed like the next best thing. We haven't had much fun in the last few years. :ohwell:

I am planning to have breakfast with dear friends today. Since it is Father's Day, I wonder how crowded the restaurant will be. DH won't be coming along. He is not all that comfortable with this group of women, and eating in restaurants is a challenge for him with the restricted diet he is on. The good news about his dietary changes is that he is feeling so much better than he was. Being gluten free is making his life better.

Hello! I’ve been out of the loop lately because my grandkids are here for a while.
Yesterday was my DGD’s 8th Birthday. We went to the movies to see “Incredibles II”. It was lots of fun and I was so surprised to see the theatre full. We had to sit at the 4th row from the front. The kids had popcorn and sodas. (I had a Diet Coke.)
When we returned home we had pizza and birthday cake! My DH was a darling to pick up the pizzas and cake.
I’m not going to church today. I’m just too tired to get up and go. One week of kids is wearing me out!! Maybe next week.

Donna how were your peaches? Love white peaches and black cherries with cottage cheese, tho the window for both is narrow. Resisted when the cherries first showed up, but Friday they were so big and beautiful and black that I succumbed. Even got two tiny white peaches. Hoping they'll sweeten and soften in the brown bag. The cherries are pretty but lacking that rich ripe flavor. That'll teach me patience!
Rebecca belated best birthday wishes, your bday is same as Joe's.

EvelynI’ve had the kitty slip into the bath - but didn’t get out unscratched! I should not let Kidd Kirby and Jackie Kane perch next to me when I bathe, but I do- lol. Yes, like you, brushing my teeth early on in the evening is a major tool in my weight maintenance arsenal too! Someday I’ll share the story of how we got Kidd Kirby - he was everything we had set on NOT getting when we went to the animal shelter to look at cats. Lol.

Rita it sounds like an RV would be fun to rent for a vacation. But since I dont drive that wouldn’t probably be fun for John so I probably will never know. I’m not so sure about living in it, John and I often want to retreat to separate rooms - does your RV have a separate space for a bedroom (I assume different ones are laid out differently) ?
KJ watch out when Joaquin gets his feet under him, he sounds like a ball of energy! It is wonderful you get to visit with him that way!

Nothing much here - we got back the artwork we had dry mounted and the one piece we got framed so we are off to the hardware store to pick up hanging supplies. I finally figured out how to hang dry mounted pieces of art so we’ll probably spend most the day doing that.
And I had a shocking realization on Friday, I have been swimming for over 1/2 a century. Somehow more than just knowing my age that fact kicked me in the gut and made me feel very old. Lol
We will make our grocery store run doing for weekly stocking up on the fresh fruit, potatoes and frozen veg. Maybe I’ll make some pot roast tonight.

Rye - What time is dinner? I’ve been wanting pot roast for months!! I need to remember to make one while hub is home. I can freeze the leftovers and enjoy them many more times.

On Sunday? Dinner is usually between 5:30 and 6:30. Just enough time to drive from OK to DFW - lol. John thinks pot roast should be a winter meal, but I’ve always loved it in the summer.2 -

Some of my fondest childhood memories were staying with the grandparents (even tho they only lived a few miles away) and getting to do different things. My maternal grandparents would always dress up just to go to town and get groceries and shop. Nylons and hat for grandma in addition to her "town dress" and grandpa - clean shirt and dress slacks. We'd hit Montgomery Wards (that was a big deal back then) and eat in a little café. And then visit with other "old people", generally their siblings. We grandkids would sit politely (or else, lol) and listen to the grown-ups talk. I always was fascinated with what was going on in their lives.
Wendy - happy retirement! It's hot so many places here in the US I love reading your comments about chilly weather. I just finished reading a good book called "Following Atticus" by Tom Ryan who lived in New England and got a miniature schnauzer and decided to go hiking a lot of the peaks in New Hampshire. Some in winter in blizzard conditions and that little dog wore mukluks and a winter jacket and soldiered on. It's really a very touching story about their friendship and different things that happened in their lives during that time. Highly recommend it.
Machka - glad your medication is helping with the hot flashes. Do the docs give you any indication when your DH will be released - are they still waiting for certain milestones to be reached? I am tickled that he's able to be up and moving around and walking with you - I'm betting that physical activity is helping his brain rewire in all sorts of ways. (((HUGS)))
Rye - I am amazed at what a loverboy Kidd Kirby is. Seems like every cat we have ever had would run for cover if company came, and the last cat we adopted wouldn't even tolerate us petting her.
It was an easy decision to send her over the Rainbow Bridge when she became old and frail, plus my cat allergies kind of sealed the deal. And I love hearing about your swimming! Lets me relive the times I had access to a pool. Even tho I swam on my back, I loved the freedom of being in the water like that.
I heard from Terry! She's been going through a lot - main concern right now is she'll be getting surgery on her foot (which has been getting worse) July 26th then will be in a cast and off her feet for a month. Anyhow she misses us and hopefully can pop back in soon.
Barbara AHMOD.... you have me laughing thinking about getting in your steps late last night and keeping the girls at bay, lol.
Allie & Janetr - thank you for sharing those wedding photos! Wishing the couples long and happy lives together.
Allie - I too loved your daughter's gown. She and your granddaughter are dolls. Whew, it's over! Good day to put your feet up!!
Janetr - that photo of your grandson reminds me of my 6'3" brother standing with his 5' tall maternal grandmother at his wedding. She too was very proud of him.
Supposed to hit the upper 80's today - we opened up the windows this morning when it was in the low 50's and have the house chilled to mid 60's, so now all the windows are closed and blinds pulled down.

Hiding rocks—— I leave one at each campsite we go to painted with my FB travel page address on it. Several have been found and people will leave me messages saying they found it and a little about themselves. Fun!
“An Idiots Complete Guide To RVing” is a must for all RVERS, newbies or experienced. I have it too!
Fifth-wheels can be HUGE! I definitely would not want to tow one around the parks. Great for full timers who stay in one place for a long time though. Just like the “park models” or other named “tiny houses”.
Nice light rain yesterday. This area really needed it. Sunny and cooler today. I’ve only seen rain like this twice since last August when we left CT!

Rye in Texas RV’s can be configured in many different ways with separate bedrooms or not, with bunk beds or not, etc. ours is only 27 feet long so only one bedroom, no couch, but a nice dinette. We replaced the queen bed with our new twins to make one large king size. Lost one night table in the process but with it for the bigger bed. My DH, 3 small dogs, and myself need the room! Lol. We had separate rooms when we had the house and I worked. My DSD was concerned when she found out we were going to a king bed in one room, but no problems came up. We have been doing this since April 1, 2017 and still enjoying the experience!

Beth - nearly all the crew are Filipino. The executive chef is German and he is the one cycling the 61 miles of the canal today.
The German food tasted exactly the same as in Dusseldorf. :laugh:
We went to the Rumba classes and I enjoyed it, but DH didn't get on with it. The rythmn is more tricky.
Then I had a nap and later we went off to the Arms and Abs class. I can feel my triceps!
Classical concert before dinner and then dancing.
Then a West End and Broadway show from the resident dancers and singers. It always fun with great costumes.
I'm feeling reluctant to get changed, but feel I would like to.
Haven't worn a short dress or skirt yet. Hmmm.
Tomorrow is our last full day on board. I shall be so sad to leave as we won't be on this ship again. They are selling it next year. This is our third trip in the same cabin and we are very attached to the old girl.

One of my favourite photos. I just texted it to my brother to share with my father (who does not have nor want a smart phone). Me and dad.
I just noticed I still have the same hair style! LOL
Dad was a recreational Mountain Climber before his back surgery in 1979. After that he was a trekker and would disappear into the foot hills of the Andes or Himalayas for weeks of hiking. To stay in shape for the treks he would climb DOWN the stairs in the downtown Chicago office building where he worked. 3X a day down 39 floors.
I often find myself standing just like he does, hands on hips, right leg bent in front of me- lol.
After his bout with pneumonia and rehab stay early this year, my brother bought a treadmill for him and he faithfully walks a couple miles a day in it now.
I am so glad I will be visiting him in August.

So far, the two I have had were run-down-your chin juice and delicious. I paired them with a cucumber and chicken sandwich. My neighbor’s cucumber garden runners over! I love cherries and they are good for my diabetes too.
