Love the wedding pics and happy endings. Janetr,I know you are proud that your grandson is doing so well.
Beth, ha! I will take that as a compliment.
Had a good day. The grandkids brought their plasma cars and I raced them in the driveway on my knee scooter. My husband didn’t think it was the smartest thing I did today, but I had great fun. Logan won. Silly me thought I would have to “let him win.” Nope! He beat me fair and square.
Thanks for the update on Terry. I feel for her and her upcoming surgery.3 -
Allie and Janet, thanks for sharing your happy wedding pictures
Katla, one summer we took a 99 day trip in our RV that took us as far east as NW NY. Jake started talking about how we could be full time RVers and what fun it would be. Then one day in New Mexico he saw a beautiful giant Native-made wall hanging and told me exactly where it would go in our house in Washington. That's when I told him that we weren't ready to be full-time RVers. We were still too attached to our house.
Father's Day went well today. I asked Jake to decide what he wanted to do and then followed his directions. We stayed home except for his excursion to the automatic car wash nearby. He cut the grass, did the laundry, sat on the back patio while I cooked a simple lunch. After I washed the dishes we took a nap and watched the Mariners baseball game. The only down-side to the day was that the Mariners got soundly defeated by their opponents. Now it's time to sit on the patio again with the dogs. I got out extra early this morning to spread bark and pull weeks before it got too warm. A really good part of the day for Jake was that he got long phone calls from both his children.

Oh I can't tell you the granddaughter is off the wall, think she is overtired and hormonal...she calls me mean grandma because I don't let her play me...I just hope she is fine for school tomorrow..3 -
Allie: "Mean" Grandma's are often the very best sort. They teach a child how to behave in public. :flowerforyou:3

Ooh two pieces of lasagna noodles cut into 6 pieces. Then layered small spoonfuls of sauce and some cottage cheese in each layer. Can you say yummy! Yeah, it wasn't baked, but that's ok.I

Beautiful pictures from the weddings Allie and Janetr. You must be so proud of your family
Beth- do I look like a Methodist? Been one for many, many years.
Lisa- thanks for your reflections on being accountable to yourself. For a few weeks, I’ve not weighed and just ate whatever. But, tomorrow ai will begin again thanks to you.
Heather- you are so active and I love that you are your hubby are learning ballroom dancing. We dance but mostly Texas two step, jitterbug and what we call Biloxi shuffle ( really like a two step).
Rebecca-Happy Birthday, you are just a “baby”. I have a birthday coming up on the first day of our trip. I will spend the whole day flying to London but thankfully business class.
Had a great father’s day weekend. Went to son’s ranch, had a great steak dinner, played Mexican TrIn with grandkids but best of all DGD came up from college to be its us.

Oh Cheri, I sympathize! Something you might try is turning on a podcast or similar ( I aim for something 1 hour or so in length). If it is bed time I inevitably find I fall asleep before it is finished. I choose podcasts over radio because when it is over my player goes silent allowing a good night sleep afterwards.
That allows me to fall asleep without ‘going to sleep, alone’ which I despise.
Whatever you do, I hope you do get good sleep!

Allie and Janet: Lovely wedding photos. So inspiring.
Beth and Sue: I had to laugh about the Methodist comment. You both do look like Methodists, and I am not sure what that means. Just laughing at it all.
Horrible eating day today, and I am feeling it. No excuse. Just tired and lazy.
Hubby flew out early this morning, so we had a quiet day. Over 90 and sunny. Just wonderful. My little guy was able to swim while I did yoga. He found a school chum to play with. The outdoor pool at the fitness club has lifeguards on the weekends. It's really nice.
Exhausted, so going to bed.

Machka - glad your medication is helping with the hot flashes. Do the docs give you any indication when your DH will be released - are they still waiting for certain milestones to be reached? I am tickled that he's able to be up and moving around and walking with you - I'm betting that physical activity is helping his brain rewire in all sorts of ways. (((HUGS)))

There is no set date for discharge yet, and there will be a number of steps between now and that point. We're starting on those steps, but our progress will depend on how my husband does with it all.
Vague ... I know.

Hi everyone!
Did my half hour swim this morning, breakfasted and had my last linedance session. I've so enjoyed it. I love standing behind the professional dancers and following their beautiful moves and admiring their gorgeous bodies.
Feeling a bit flat as it is all ending tomorrow.
Tonight we are splashing out on a bottle of champagne. It's a cocktail party first so I will have to go for the AF alternative.
I've still got a ballroom lesson to go and aerobics.
The lecture this morning was about the Vikings in Britain. DH's specialism.
It was pretty good.
Love Heather ☓

Lisa- thanks for your reflections on being accountable to yourself. For a few weeks, I’ve not weighed and just ate whatever. But, tomorrow I will begin again thanks to you. SueBDew in TX
Sue... glad they were helpful to you - they were part of a process I'm going through, as I'm sure you could tell... Been stalled out for some time, due to my own actions, no one else's. Small realizations build up to the fact that, if I don't own it, it's not like someone else is going to step up and say, "Yep, I put that food in your mouth," and "Yep, I told you not to exercise today."
Rye and Cheri - I know yours is because of also being alone in the house, and mine's a little different. I don't like sleeping alone, either, and as someone who travels a lot for work, some of the tools I use are white noise, usually PBS, on the TV, and lots and lots of pillows. My husband and I tend to sleep back to back, so I line pillows along my back. That way, when I turn that direction, there is SOMETHING there, and I don't wake up searching for him. In hotel rooms, I also drop the temperature down in the room quite sharply, so that I can sleep under covers.
Trying to wait patiently through this whole process with the house, and to convince myself that, if this one doesn't work, another will. Hoping for the best, preparing for the worst. For no reason, I might add... there's been no hint from the other side of the transaction that things might not go well. Just don't want to mourn if this one doesn't work out...
Have to call the VA today and see what happened with my consult to the orthopedics people who will need to make a decision on whether my knees can be worked on. It's been more than 30 days now with no word and the pain isn't getting any better, for sure.
Time to go make Corey's lunch, make sure Egg has food, and settle into my day.
Love y'all!
Lisa in AR3 -
I forgot to mention, for those who worried about my son along with me. Newest mixed blessing - the VA came through with a 70% disability rating, which will be back paid to December. Massive weight lifted from us (we won't have to pay his rent) and from him. He said he'll send us money from that backpay for everything we gave him (to the tune of about $3,000). I will not be holding my breath, honestly--love him, but he's not terribly good with money at the best of times.
The overall benefit is that a) he'll get a monthly stipend, and b) he will have medical care for the rest of his life. The hazard is that he'll get a monthly stipend which will pay his rent and enough to eat... and I'm hoping he doesn't just stop there. He SAYS he plans to take advantage now of the VA paying for him to go to school. He started doing that once with culinary school, ended up dropping out. Just want him to continue to strive. It's only when we stop trying to go forward that we fail.

Morning, gonna be a scorcher today, so I'm dressing light and bringing plenty of cold water along for the day, the classrooms are pretty miserable, but this is the last week of school, so no complaining from me!
Had a lovely Father's day, DD and I took DH out to a new restaurant "Rockin' Ramen" a wonderful little fusion place run by a retired cop, super friendly guy who loves to cook and came up with all of the recipes himeself. Plenty of vegetarian choices, traditional ramen and carribean choices as well, I didn't overeat, in fact I'm back in the zone, not overeating, so I will take it.
Heather the Times just ran an article about retiring to a cruise ship year round, could you imagine that!?!? Sounds like you had a most wonderful time, I'm happy for you.
Stay cool everyone, NYKAREN2 -
Morning ladies~
Slept well, with Tal in bed with me, think she felt better with Alfie and me here, im going to get her up at 7 and get her fed and to the school bus , and then walk the boys.. feed my dfil ,He didnt eat on Saterday ,and wouldnt eat for anyone, Tom tried yesterday as we were both there and he would only eat for me, so I got his food in him....I am hoping that this is a quick faze and that even though I am there almost daily that I wont have to be the only one who can feed him...

Nice wedding pics, Allie and Janetr.
Allie - I first saw your post on my cell phone where the photo was so small I thought the bride was carrying a bundle of birch switches! :noway: When I looked again on my computer I realized her bouquet was made of lavender. That makes much more sense.
Janetr - I don't know if I've ever seen a man dressed in as intense a shade of blue as your grandson is wearing. He totally rocks it!
Yesterday I put up the protective netting around my strawberry patch and sowed a bunch of seeds (carrots, arugula, "mixed lettuce", dill and other stuff). That will sound awfully late to most of you but my garden is at 70°N latitude and with all the cold and rain we've been having, the soil didn't dry up enough for planting until this week. I'll cover the beds (and the strawberry plants) with non-woven cloth to protect them from birds, bugs and hares and then leave them in the hand of God while I tootle off to New Hampshire for a month. Last year the garden was a total flop. My biggest carrot was an inch long and thinner than a toothpick. It won't take much to beat last year's crop!
Our neighborhood farmer has started letting his goats out of the barn, as he does every summer. I see them right now, clustered on the side of the mountain like a bunch of white boulders, except boulders don't move. They'll mosey up the slope - often grazing to well above the tree line - and in late afternoon they'll come home to be milked.
Rebecca - Your comment a couple days ago about all the wildlife you see now that you live on Whidbey Island resonated with me. Out here on "my" island we're smack dab in the middle of nature. From my place at the dining table I can see two nesting birds this year - one thrush and one seagull. I can also watch what's going on in the bird feeder, where we currently have about 8 species visiting regularly. The bullfinch and European greenfinch chicks have learned to fly and are constantly pestering their parents for food.
It makes me SO happy to feel that I am part of this rich tapestry of life :flowerforyou:

Good morning.
Ended up having a solid 6 hours sleep. I was so tired from getting up at 330am to take hubs to airport and purposefully not napping during the day.
Let me clarify a bit. Hubs and I sleep in separate rooms and have for many years. Story for another time. Works for us wonderfully. What I don't like is being alone in the house at night. Just knowing there is not another person around at night is scary to me.
Hubs and I are together for everything (except when he's at work) and it's hard not having his presence. I'll have to get used to it as he is traveling quite a bit this summer/fall. More than usual.
Thanks for the suggestions. I have an essential oil mister that I run with lavender and I use an app called Relaxing Melodies that I play. Part of the problem too is still getting used to the new house with its new sounds/noises etc.

Pip, I'm listening to the audio book "Born to Run" (recommended by Heather and have been listening to the part about running barefoot and in those monkey feet shoes that you wear. I couldn't help thinking about you and your successful running. If you haven't read the book yet, I highly recommend it.
Cheri, Jake and I sleep in separate rooms for many good reasons and when he is gone overnight, the house feels empty even though I'm used to sleeping alone (with the pets). I read myself to sleep.
Barbie from beautiful NW Washington where it will be hotter today than it was yesterday.3 -
Cheri - I used to keep a baseball bat by the bed when I spent a lot of nights alone, and for whatever reason that was enough to make me feel secure. Now it's usually me traveling, and airlines frown on you having a baseball bat in your luggage (go figure! ) so I've had to learn to cope in hotel rooms however I could. I do get it though, and first nights in hotel rooms are always light sleeping for me. After one night, I get used to the noise and the bed. When I'm doing a lot of one-night location visits, it makes for a long and exhausting trip. And, honestly, when traveling, there is an almost ingrained fear of an intruder that doesn't help me get to sleep, either.
Trying the habit-stacking thing again, and taking a page out of the Bullet Journal fad, and putting together a habit tracker, in Excel of course. Trying to keep the old, bad habits at bay, and see if I can string some successes together. Also logging again here in MFP--even though I don't have to count calories on this plan, I'm curious as to how much I'm actually taking in, calorie-wise. So, not changing my eating plan, just checking up to see where I land as far as calories go. Could be I'm taking in more than I think.
Later, y'all,

Thank you so much. They had a rainbow themed wedding. All the bridesmaids and groomsmen wore different colors of the rainbow.

OMG: So True y’al: Perfect! LOL!
About a month ago I had some very painful scratchy feeling in my eye while I was in my very public job. Ended up wearing an eye patch for a few hours. True story: I heard about cousins who lost their eye, rare diseases, had one person go out to the pharmacy and bought me an eye wash, and heard about a bunch of eye injuries.
Had this happened up where I grew up the reaction of strangers would have been at most one or two people would have vaguely gestured in the direction of my eye and said ‘you ok?’ And when I acknowledged I was ok they would smile and move on.
My eye, btw just got excessively dry - I work in a building with a pool and seem to need to add eye drops every so often.
Interactions with strangers are SO different down here. And the scene where she hides out rather than go hug a bunch of strangers: TOTALLY HAVE DONE THAT! LOL
Thanks, you started my day with a very big smile!!

Ok, I just watched that Line Dance video.
Wow that is a LONG line. And that looks like a lot of fun. But how do you remember all of that?
