Finally a chance to peek into this thread! Only by braving the moskitos outside the campside reception building (where the wifi is ). I don't have much running to report - week one of my vacation is over, and I only went for two runs together with my sister, both quite short (it's really hot, and we were always exhausted from general vacation activities in the evening). So running-wise I'll be completely out of shape when I come home.
But we did some hiking and sightseeing, which still amounted to more than 20,000 steps per day on average. And today we went canoeing, which I hadn't done in ages. 24km - my arms and shoulders are going to be super sore tomorrow!!
---
@bride001 That's awesome that the warm-up suggested by the PT helped, I hope your foot will be fine from now on!
@zdyb23456 Kudos on your great 14 mile run
@JulieS3103 Yes, trails are fun! Some nice trails are responsible for a couple of scrapes and cuts on my legs every summer, but I still keep coming back to them ;-p
@shanaber Glad that you are feeling better! Wow, you have trails with nice bathrooms? Sounds like any runners dream come true
@PastorVincent good luck with the house-hunting!
@sarahthes Sorry you are sick. Get well soon!
@taylorlegal welcome to the challenge
@skippygirlsmom Great race, congratulations!
@rheddmobile Happy birthday!
@hanlonsk Great pictures! It's so hard to capture wild animals, usually I don't manage to snap a photo ((I've seen a fox a couple of times, and a large group of boar once, but no way to prove it ^^))
@biketheworld lol, me too! only if I could make any wish, maybe I'd want to be a *lot* faster
@shanaber I'm a bit jealous of your cooler weather. I love the cloudy sky in the picture, I want some of those clouds too!3 -

Goal = 110 miles
Got out as early as I could for another steamy run on trails by the lake house. It was not as bad as yesterday but close, with temps in the 80s and high humidity at 7 am. I managed 3.3 miles but walked a tiny bit at the turnaround and up one final hill. No stamina left after spending basically all day in the heat yesterday.
After my run, I had to make good on my promise to take my great niece to try stand up paddle-boarding. Really I was the one who wanted to do it, but had invited her and she all keyed up about it. She's 10 and pretty athletic, and she had no problem standing up on the board immediately. And surprisingly neither did I. We watched a YouTube video before we left to get the technique - LOL, seemed to work! I really liked it, she did not love it (the paddling was too challenging and she gave up easily). I may have to get myself a board!

Had a busy day yesterday and was up until 4am. I did sleep in, but still exhausted. Also, it is hot outside. Those 2 factors made it a tough run and there was a lot of walking. The schedule shows 12 miles, but I only got 8.93 before I decided I had enough.
Despite the very slow average pace (due to a lot of walking), Garmin still estimated Aerobic Training Effect at 3.0 (improving). Maybe the heat increased my HR.3 -
Okay, just when I thought I had seen everything.... A sky diving ultra trail run?!? That race is WAY to hardcore for me!2
-
I got up at 6:30 with the best of intentions to run before it got too hot and muggy. But instead of putting on my shoes, I put on some coffee, and then next thing you know, I've had 2 cups of coffee and I'm enjoying sitting on the deck with the kiddos and it's 10:30!
So I did a 2 miler in the heat and humidity and mostly didn't die.

Went to the greenway with Skip this morning, she had 8 on her agenda I figured I’d do 3 after yesterday, I felt great and did a down a back for a total of 4 and then walked almost 2 more while I waited on her.
@cburke8909 that is the sweetest thing, thank you very much.
Happy Father’s Day to you too!
Thanks @Scott6255 Skip said thank you too!
Thanks @bride001 I just realized my picture said first trail run, we actually run trails quite a bit, it was actually my first trail race.
@5BeautifulDays thanks, it was a nice one. I love the medal, it’s made out of wood. You get one for each race and if you do them all you get a plaque at the end to hang them on. I hope you are okay?
Do we still have “Embrace the suck” shirts sitting somewhere that I can order one? Skip mentioned wanting one yesterday?
Dang I just noticed how big my pictures were ha ha sorry!
@PastorVincent hope it works out with the house
@rheddmobile Happy Birthday
@weat0043 you’d have to be pretty over the top to offend this bunch! No worries
@Elise4270 great job!
@biketheworld hysterical about running the dog!
@ContraryMaryMary that is definitely some mud
@marisap2010 great job the long run – nice job to everyone getting those long runs done in the heat
@MobyCarp glad the Achilles is feeling normal
@keeprunningfatboy I’m looking at your list 13.1 one day and Olympic Tri the next, what the heck awesome!

There is a series of trail runs around here called the Backyard Burn that I think does something like that with the medals. If I can get my mileage up, I want to do the fall series. They do 5 races and you can choose 5 mile or 10 mile options (although I think they're a little loose with the mileage...the 5 miler is basically a 10K).
Also, I'm fine! I just had one of those pesky womanly procedures that wound up hurting more and making me more exhausted than I had planned for. I ran the day after and was fine, but then the next several days were just blah for running.

Happy Father's Day to all the Dads in the group! Hope you are having a wonderful family day, being celebrated!
Now spending a few minutes to catch up on all the posts I have missed...
@sarahthes - Hope you are feeling better!
@skippygirlsmom - So glad the race went so well for you and for the Skippygirl! Love the pictures!
@kat_ontherun and @weat0043 - I can't run fasted either (although I did try for a while). I get dizzy and often my legs feel dead. These days I typically have a piece of toast with some peanut butter and some banana. It seems to be just enough.
@elise4270 - look at you!! 6+ miles woohoo! Followed up with another run and a ride! Getting stronger every day!
@5BeautifulDays - hope you are quickly feeling back to normal!
@bride001 - My chiropractor gave me a yoga stretch/pose to do for my PF. I do I before every run and while it was difficult and hurt initially now it is fine and I think it has really helped me. I rarely have any issues with PF any more. http://rebeccapacheco.com/asana/for-your-tired-tootsies-from-om-gal-with-love/
@rheddmobile - Happy Birthday! Great job on your birthday 5k as well as on your progress in the last year!
@hanlonsk and @juliet3455 - You both must be traveling to remote areas. In all my travels I have yet to have to stay at a hotel in the US, Canada, Central America or Europe that didn't have some kind of a gym with at least a couple of 'mills and elliptical and a free weight set even in small villages. @hanlonsk - love the pictures! Did the chicken run with you?
@biketheworld - I get that all the time too. People will say 'have a good walk' and I always respond 'Thanks I will have a great run' It used to bug me that people couldn't tell I was a runner, but now oh well!
@katharmonic - So awesome that you could run with your Uncle and get some tips from him. I suspect he was honored and loved running with you too! You really should plan a race with him maybe somewhere you both want to go or in between where you both live. Also on the SUP... it is a legit workout! There was a guy who also worked out with my trainer who competed and raced to Catalina island. It was about 30 miles! He was in amazing shape!
@ContraryMaryMary - love the muddy shoes and legs. Looks like you had a great time!
@marisap2010 - Awesome long run!
@MobyCarp - Congratulations on the race and that the achilles seems to be ok!
@_nikkiwolf_ - in all fairness my trail is in an urban/suburban area and is only 1.5mi each way. I can however go out onto the dirt service road or over to the longer bike trail on the other side of the river and still not be too far away from them. One way or the other I have to go by one to get home too.6 -
It's super hot outside. Thank goodness for the treadmill.
Did 2 miles running and 2 miles walking uphill yesterday. Found that my HR gets up just as high as running just from walking uphill. Nice.
Today is Sunday, which is the day I usually feel super worn out, so it is a rest day. Tomorrow morning I'm back at it.
Got a shift in my medication coming up, and I'm prepared to feel funky for a few days. Hopefully I can still run through it. Nothing major, just a dosage adjustment. But I'm so sensitive to changes in meds, so you never know.10 -

Sincere Thank you! I frequently use events as supported training runs as I did these 2. They both supplied water and Gatorade and Gu which is easier then on me.
The Half was delayed by lightning, and it was so humid! But the finish is in the Toledo Mud Hens ball park. And the shirt is a keeper, super nice. Not bad for a last day register.
The TRI, was planned. I wanted an open water swim and a middle distance bike route. It got to 92 degrees. I was happy with the swim and bike, but I was getting sunburnt and lost tons of fluid through sweat. I considered taking a DNF for safety, but decided on a walk jog 10K.11 -

Thanks! You have so much experience, i just had to ask for more information. Glad to hear you didn't have to DNF. 92f/33c is unpleasant. Awesome swag score on the shirt!1 -

Super muggy and rainy outside today, so did 3 miles on the treadmill! I got plenty of sleep last night, started with an early breakfast and lunch, then ran at around 5pm when I felt like my energy was finally back after so many days of fatigue. It was tough to keep going after the first mile, but I decided to play around with the speed a little to keep things interesting and push myself. I'm so happy I pushed myself for 3 miles! I celebrated with a cold shower and chocolate ice cream. T'was a good day.
