Hmmm.... I think you should stop equivocating and go for at least 63 miles. You get 13 of those in a race, leaving just 50 to do in 3 weeks. You could dance that much at the festival...lol2 -

Fair point. And yeah, given we have six hours of workshops AS WELL as social dancing, I’ll be averaging 10 miles a day of the festival.
Ok. 63 it is!! That’s suspiciously similar to what I achieved in June, but then I barely ran for three weeks having lost all motivation...

I didn't make goal last month so I'm dropping back to 45km for the month. We are at the beginning of a 8 day heat wave so not much running for me I'd think.2

Goal for July 150km
Lots of it in the mountains as I start 3 weeks of Vacation today and the Emperor's Challenge Mountain HM is my next event - actually it's my A Event for the season unless something else jumps up and hits me.
Off to my brothers Cabin at Slave Lake for a few days for some electrical wiring and then into Tumbler Ridge, Grande Prairie ( Evergreen Park Sand dunes ) Grand Cache ( Canadian Death Race Trails I hope ) and Jasper ( Skyline Trail and Nigel pass ) so will have very limited cell coverage and no PC unless I get to a library.
@garygse - Had to smile that 250 miles is your cut back month for the middle of summer in Texas!2 -
Hello, I'm new here. Starting to up my training for a half marathon in November. Currently regularly run around maybe 16k per week but need to increase that drastically.
So my goal is to run 90k for July. Does that sound appropriate?8 -

Welcome, @Avidkeo !
How far is your weekly long run lately? I'd suggest increasing that by 1-2 kms every week, rather than an overall sharp monthly increase.5 -

Bar any new injuries developing (knock on wood), will try to get in 90k this month.
Non distance goals
1: get into marathon training plan, hit all long runs
2: retain current level of (haphazard) cycling and strength training
3: hit the trails at least once7 -
I want to give this a try. My goal this year was to start running again. I started this month (June) and have been slowly working up. While I'm not the best at it and can't go very far yet, I was able to run (jog?) most of a mile the other day while on my 3 mile walk/run.
This may motivate me to get out there more and keep going.
So the goal I am setting myself as I am still new to running is for 30 miles in July. I'm not an everyday runner yet so I think this is achievable for me at the moment.13 -

Welcome, @monkeygirl08 ! Don't give it a second thought that you don't run every day. It takes years and years to do that, and even then, the jury is out if it's advisable. Rest days are very important - that's when your body heals and gets stronger.
Good luck! Are you doing Couch to 5K? That's a great way to start.1 -

my weekly long run is currently around 8k. I have done 10k once, but that was about a month ago before getting a few illnesses etc.
My plan for the next month is do a 5 to 10k plan which is a run 3x a week increasing in length, with an additional long run on the weekend. then in 6 weeks jump into a the cool running beginner half marathon training program. I know I can just go out and do runs regluarlly but I like having a plan to follow lol6 -
I'm in for another 175.4

200 goal miles for July (I think topping last month could be a stretch, but ya just never know)5

@Orphia Thanks for the support! I did C25K about 7 years ago and was thinking of starting it back up. I wasn't able to get past week 7 I think because of my knee. So far, I've just been making my own way. I'll run until I cant, then walk until I talk myself into running again. The distance I've been able to run get further every day I'm out there, if not, then at least every other. I rotate the walking and running at my own pace and timing.4 -

Welcome to the new folks, glad to have you on board with us. It's a fun and talkative group, so just jump right in.
July is going to start out super hot, and with a race next weekend. I am just running this one for fun with a friend, so will not likely try to get a certain time. I've heard it's a fun race and a big party, so I'm just hoping for not too awfully hot. I may do another race later in the month that has both 5k and 10k options - probably the 5k because I haven't done a 5k in a long while and would kind of like to see how I do.
Not sure how to set my goal, exactly. June was my highest mileage month and I should be building (marathon is 17 weeks away), but July only has 4 weekends. Let's just say 130 miles as an initial goal.
I still need to figure out a September half marathon. I am on the waitlist for Wineglass half on 9/30. I would really like to do one the weekend of 9/15 but haven't come up any definite possibilities. Seems like every race I want to do is the next weekend, when I have work trip to Boston - but no races in Boston that would work for me on those dates.
Upcoming races:
7/8/18 Boilermaker 15K, Utica NY
7/28/18 Chocolate Challenge 5k (or 10K?, not yet signed up)
8/19/18 Falmouth Road Race (7 miles), Falmouth, MA
8/26/18 18.12 Challenge, Sackets Harbor, NY??? (not yet signed up)
10/28/18 Marine Corps Marathon, Arlington VA

So I've started videoing my runs and they're really bouncy as you would expect given I'm holding a cell phone in my hand to record. Has anybody else here recorded runs, or even bike rides or skiing for that matter? What sort of gear do you use if so? I would like to invest in equipment that doesn't give viewers motion sickness as at this point I think my videos are easier to listen to than to watch and podcast isn't really what I'm going for.
(Channel is Run Sarah Run on YouTube if anyone is interested.)2 -
Aiming for 50 Miles

Will try to hit 80 miles in July. Just being conservative with my Achilles and come back slowly.

I think most people use a GoPro for that type of video.
I was watching your video from last night and nodding along with the shoe talk. And wishing I could run that path. Looks nice!2
