What is your "Petty" Reason to Lose Weight?

To offer a bump to our pettiness, I'd posted a while ago that one of my reasons was that my mother has been a naysayer. This weekend we were discussing my shopping for clothing a size down as I'm bordering moving down another size. This irks her to no end because I'm now smaller than she is and it surfaced a little when she decided to make the comment that eventually it was going to backfire and all my efforts were going to be 'all for naught' because I'd end up the size I was. Rather than supporting my progress so far ( Over 50 lbs lost so far ), she decided to try to make it sound like it was only a matter of time before I went back up in weight.

This is your mom acting that way!? I would be so proud and take you shopping.....sheesh....mother love!
Make her eat every foul thought in regards to your weight loss and look FABULOUS every time you see her!
Sorry but she is a horrible woman12 -
I want to be a MILF. I don’t want to be the fat mom24

I want to lose weight for me. But also to shove it in my husband's mothers face after having to listen to her interrupt our wedding ceremony discussing whether or not I was pregnant, or just fat. I was the only one who apparently heard her other than the people she was talking to, but still. I detest that cow and want to do everything I can to be 100 times better and hotter than she ever has been or will be. Pretty sure I'm already there, but no harm in meeting my own goals now.33

Lots of benefits for me from lowered blood sugar to more energy to looking better etc. but my petty one was that I finally was able to do was to wear shirts that didn't have TALL on it. By the time I combined my height with broad shoulders and the gut I used to have a regular length shirt was not happening.4
-
Not petty but it dawned on me that I needed to stop having refined sugar and lose weight as well, otherwise my relationship could be at risk. If I developed diabetes and my long distance girlfriend couldn't come to my country (maybe her daughter couldn't come as well) we'd have to break up because her country lacks proper medical care.6

I have many reasons, but my pettiest is that my girlfriend has cheated on me and still talks to various guys online. I want to lose weight so other women might find me attractive and want to talk to me. At that point, maybe she'll straighten up, or I might finally start over and be able to find a woman that both fully loves me, and is faithful for once.32

I had already switched to a more natural diet and cut my carb intake in half early last year...it never particularly bothered me being overweight...well obese actually before, but as I moved into my thirties my body just couldn't handle the diet I had gotten used to eating anymore and I knew I had to do something. I lost about fifteen lbs and then seemed to hit a plateau.
But what finally got me motivated to start counting calories and taking the weight off in a more consistent way was a thread on another forum poking fun at the 'fat acceptance' movement, particularly one community on Tumblr. Suddenly I was reading quotes from what were basically female incels every day full of blame shifting and science denial and spite, and being exposed to that turned into such a huge motivational tool for me and several others in the thread to NOT be like them in any way and to take responsibility for our health. Since then I've lost another thirty and I'm going to keep going.15 -
I want to prove that you can be in the best shape of your life at 50. Feels kind of nice to be more defined and have lower BF (7.5%) than most of the 20's and 30's at the gym. I hope this will continue for another 10-20 years. For me it's just knowing i did a total transformation in my late 40's. Hope that will motivate a few in a similar demographic.12

Work in the school system. Have summer off
Would like to go back a little smaller than when I left.6 -
People always call me fat as an insult. Maybe they will think of a better insult if I lose weight24

^^^^^^ YES!!!!! 1000 times this. Sometimes you just have to not be nice.10 -
Because my ex-best friend has been nothing but cruel to me since I started losing weight and became thinner than her. I know she stalks me on social media, so I carefully only post pictures of myself that are exceptionally awesome (full body pic of me finishing a 5k). After being told that I am a "loser fat B, and will always be a fat B", I am done being nice.38

🤘🤘. There will always be haters. All shapes and sizes are beautiful. I feel sorry for people that have to tear others down to feel good about themselves.10 -
I want to like seeing pictures of myself.15

Very true. Which is why I don't say anything on most social media (here is the exception), I don't even acknowledge my weight lost (other friends do, in ways that are supportive and nice - you know, what real friends do), but I know that posting my successes pisses the haters off. Ran the Wounded Warrior charity 5k - took pics with my "running buddy", Sgt Ortiz (he was blinded by shrapnel in Afghanistan) - that picture went up. Having fun "coaching" peewee soccar (coaching is a very loose term with 4 yr olds) - that one goes up too. So yeah, the best revenge is to say nothing, but prove them wrong.17 -

You are spot on. Keep rocking it. 🤘5 -
I know that many of us choose to lose weight because we want to have a healthy lifestyle and feel better about ourselves, but c'mon, we also have "I'm going to stick it to X" reasons.
For me, it's because I don't want to be the fat gay cousin. I want to be the hot gay cousin. I also want people's minds to be blown when I can lift heavy boxes by myself.
What's yours?
People say I will never be thin (including some family members). I want to prove them wrong.10 -
My petty reason is that I don't want to feel insecure when "the lights are on," if ya know what I mean. Also, want to wear a bathing suit without shorts on to cover up my ginormous booty. And to be completely honest, I've hit mid-thirties, and I want at least a decade or two of hotness so I don't feel like I wasted my youth disgusted by what I see in the mirror. I want to feel confident like so many of the other beautiful women my age seem. I do understand that those issues run a bit deeper than extra pounds, BUT...damn it. I want to see my legs and LIKE them in shorts and want to not worry about cellulite or what I look like.16

She is who she is. It's time to start over.19 -

You find out who your real friends are, for sure.4 -
I'm losing weight to have a baby with my husband (in and of it's self not petty). Petty part -- I'm doing it because my stepkid finally pulled the "mommy will let me ..." fill in the blank of anything Daddy & I haven't let her do age 5 - 11 - "so I'm living with my mom now". I feel like after 5.5 years of helping my husband raise his daughter, who lived with us 5 states away from her mom who regularly disappears/moves to other states, while parading around the midwest bars/honkytonks like she's the next karaoke queen of the universe restarting (again for the 3rd time) her own family w/out keeping a single regular phone date with her own kid, providing child support or even sending along a birthday card/note regularly, that it's time for he and I to focus on our family's future. So it's petty, but also a little like freedom. Like I'm getting a second chance to have the family I dreamed about w/out the input of a slacking, yet opinionated 3rd party. I'm probably gonna lose friends for this ... oh wells.13
